NO GMO, NO Monsanto March in Soldotna

The March against Monsanto took place all over the country and the world, including here in Soldotna Alaska. I thank all the people who took the time to express their opinions and fight for the health of our community and country. We are sick of the unhealthy food that has been shoved down our throats for corporate profits. This is how change happens.

Fred Meyer now has grass fed organic beef and Safeway is carrying Organic Greens Plus. These are very positive changes.

I admire people who's convictions are strong and who make their decisions on certain causes known. But, when they do they need to be armed with the facts that support their causes. So far I have not read one fact, or even one unsupported statements from this group of people that causes me to have any concern with GMO's. I never even heard what the abbreviation "GMO" stood for, although I knew they were referring to genetically altered seeds. I also never heard why they believed genetically altered seeds were bad for us.

The demonstrations appeared to me as being shallow and without any real message. The press also seemed reluctant to cover the demonstrations.

Anonymous @3:15, The information about GMOs is very easy to find and very widespread. GMO crops cause multi-organ failure in lab animals, produces unhealthy food animals when it is fed to them, has produced a new kind of infectious agent which not only infects plants, but also animals to name just a few of the problems. I read research papers to get my information, apparently you just use your lack of any information at all to form yours. Your statement that you have never even checked to see what GMO stands for says it all which makes your statement that the demonstrations are shallow more than hilarious. The press in this area and state are reluctant to cover almost everything.

Monsanto's argument is their seeds increase crop production, that are affected by weather, etc. and help farmers. Agriculture is the top billion dollar industry in our country - so of course, newspapers -owned by powerful people, who are probably invested in the agriculture business - would be reluctant to cover these demonstrations.

Anon sounds like a Monsanto troll "Concern troll".
well he/she better be concerned b/c the UK is banning GMO's and another country burned the corn.
To say there is "no evidence" is beyond ludicrous but I've seen this same "meme" the past few days. Looks like you guys had a really great turnout! Awesome!
I will have to agree the press is not covering, but only b/c it sold it soul to the devil and can't publish the truth anymore.
That's exactly why we need blogs! Citizen journalism!
Thanks Celia!

Anon: 3:15: A leading GMO side affect impacts the intelligence factor of average Americans in their "contempt prior to investigation". It is a duh, apathy wherein people are blind to Corporate interests in poisoning our food supply.
I recommend either researching Monsanto before shooting yourself in the foot...or continuing in your misleading rhetoric, and sleep walk through life.
