Recently Chelsea Manning refusing to supply information on Assange was imprisoned again, she shows huge courage. We also have Reality Winner sitting in prison for revealing information the public needed to know. John Kiriakou was formerly with the CIA and revealed the US intelligence community was using torture, they imprisoned him for having the ethics to care and the courage to take a risk. Edward Snowden leaked a large amount of information contributing to the population of the world understanding the huge surveillance state's tools used to gather information on us. He had already observed what the US does to those who expose wrongs and fled to another country. They place whistleblowers in isolation and prevent communication with news media and much of the outside world. This is a form of torture. Snowden's revelations helped me immensely as a targeted individual. There are others who have had the courage to patriotically leak the truth for the good of their country and humanity.
The most recent leaker is Reality Winner who worked for a security contractor and leaked a report on Russian hacking to the Intercept, a news outlet who betrayed her BTW. She was given a harsh sentence. Our government is being run by contractors who have access to massive secret data, they hire idealistic young people who have not lived long enough to understand just how fully corrupt and psychopathic the government is. They are shocked when they discover just one aspect of it and are then motivate to right the wrongs. Teaching young people to be honest, ethical people can be dangerous for them. Is it any wonder that young people are backing Mike Gravel's run for president.
It seems the main purpose of classified material is to control information, to control the population and prevent the truth from contradicting their propaganda, not so much the protection of assets and methods.
I have been a serial whistleblower of a different type which has been about corrupt health care corporations, drug dealing abusive cops, the horrible conditions at homeless shelters, corruption in low income housing, etc. It's related to the environment I am in and what is observed or experienced, knowing something must be done. If I was dealing with classified information people were being tortured and our country was being turned into a fascist state clearly that would have propelled me to take action. I would never have done something to endanger operatives etc. but this country can't last much longer considering what has been done to it over the last few decades. In every case of my whistleblowing the government already knew about the problems, allowed them, facilitating harm, abuse and violations of laws for the profit of some corporation, a national law enforcement agency, to protect some psychopathic politician or corrupt local government. There were always others whispering about these issues, but afraid to speak up.
I found out through the process of speaking up, writing and protesting, our government is fully captured by corporations, psychopaths and their puppets, they don't want anything done to stop the debauchery and will slowly kill anyone who speaks up (with occasional fast kills). The courts are corrupted, the officers of the court can be promised something or compromised into very criminal and unethical actions to protect the evil players in this country and harm vulnerable people for them.
One of those health care corporations I whistleblew about, CHS continues to do corrupt things, just saying...hello. The government just lets this crap continue even when they know about it until some insider files a whistleblower lawsuit to benefit themselves. I just wanted the government to do their job and stop them. CHS also claimed they didn't run a massive Medicaid scam with the help of local politicians in Deming NM. The government knew something was amiss because I reported it to several agencies in 2002. Then an admin insider filed a whistleblower lawsuit so he could become wealthy. I got ganstalked and had to run for my life. All I wanted was for my government to do their job, over and over but no that can't happen.
The drug dealing cops are all over the country. Homeless people are being brutalized and criminalized everywhere. Most of the localized problems I have reported in the past are actually SOP everywhere and the government allows criminal, unethical and harming actions by corporate entities. Most people probably still believe these things are not allowed, they are sanctioned. They do however prosecute huge numbers of poor people with no power, even if innocent of the charges, including setting them up for false crimes because that is a benefit politically to some and boosts corporate profits.
Does no one remember under President Nixon we had a high ranking FBI agent that leaked information to journalists called Deepthroat? His real name was Mark Felt and the leaks about Watergate brought down the corrupt Nixon White House. Even though Nixon and many others knew Deepthroat was Mark Felt, they protected his identity until he revealed it in 1991. He was born in Idaho but had been living in my home town, Santa Rosa California with his daughter before his death having developed dementia.

We have a long history of people courageously coming forward to tell the public about corruption, crimes, harm to others and evil. What we have now is a government that is run like a mafia. Those in charge control what everyone says, if you don't do as they say they come after you, destroy you, harm your health, force you into poverty, homelessness, deny health care, deny legal aid. This all causes the dissidents to die much younger than they naturally would have. They don't just use law enforcement agencies or the military like in the past, they now have an army of brown shirts in communities going after truth tellers. They also have propagandists in place of journalists. Journalists who actually investigate and uncover the truth are under attack.

Remember the Pentagon Papers?
People risked their freedom to inform us of the atrocities the US committed against Vietnam, but much of those same tactics are still being used against not just other countries but also innocent citizens who act as if they live in a democracy in the United States. The Pentagon Papers was a classified study of the DOD involvement in Vietnam from WWII to 1967.
Daniel Ellsberg former U.S. Marine Corps officer and strategic analyst at the Rand Corporation and the DOD, and Mike Gravel, a senator ended up working together to expose what was going on in Vietnam. Ellsberg supplied Gravel, former senator from Alaska who is running for president at the present time the documentation. They also sent the Pentagon Papers to a large number of news outlets. Gravel very carefully enlisted help to go through the Pentagon papers so no harm would be done from the release. He then read the Pentagon Papers into the record on the
senate floor in a committee after his attempt to enter it into the record had been blocked
I am very interested in what went on with the DOD in Vietnam due aspects of the Phoenix Program used there to disrupt, discredit, destroy and torture Vietnamese citizens being very similar to a program used in South America and now on citizens in the United States, including myself.

Legislators and other from the right and the so called left (which is right of center) are celebrating that Julian Assange has been arrested for his conspiracy to commit journalism. These puppets do not represent the interests of the American people, they represent corporations and massively wealthy individuals who for decades have worked to get complete control of the US and world. The fourth estate is now a complete propaganda machine for them and anyone with the courage to tell the truth is under attack.
