James Durbin American Idol Contestant With Aspergers and Tourettes Is Amazing

The cough is part of the Tourette Syndrome.

Of course here in Alaska they would tell him he doesn't have Aspergers because he is intelligent and uses language well. That is because they don't know diddly squat about it. I actually had some idiot tell me I did not have Aspergers because I used language too well. There are authors, song writers, actors, comedians and reporters who have Aspergers for heavens sake. Many of the great writers from the past are believed to have been Aspie as well. Aspergers is not rare, it is rarely diagnosed

I love that James picked Uprising a song done by the group MUSE, it happens to be one of my favorites. It shows his passion which shines through in every song he sings. I don't normally watch American Idol, but now I turn it on and listen for James.

Uprising lyrics (Same as performed by MUSE)
Songwriters: Bellamy, Matthew;

The paranoia is in bloom, the PR
Transmissions will resume, they'll try to
Push drugs, keep us all dumb down and hope that
We will never see the truth around, so come on

Another promise, another scene, another
Package not to keep us trapped in greed with all the
Green belts wrapped around our minds and endless
Red tape to keep the truth confined, so come on

They will not force us
And they will stop degrading us
And they will not control us
We will be victorious, so come on

Interchanging mind control, come let the
Revolution take its toll, if you could
Flick a switch and open your third eye, you'd see that
We should never be afraid to die, so come on

Rise up and take the power back, it's time that
The fat cats had a heart attack, you know that
Their time is coming to an end, we have to
Unify and watch our flag ascend, so come on

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious, so come on

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious, so come on

Hey, hey, hey, hey

Thanks for sharing. I love James too, and am vying for him to win. My best friend's son has Asperger's. I'm hoping James can encourage others who face the same challenges.

My son too has had challenges very similar to Asperger's.....it's never been diagnosed. I find these kids/adults very creative and talented, musical, passionate about the things they love.

So many more people are wondering if they might be in that category. It's true that it goes undiagnosed.

Am hoping for sweet James Durbin to win!!
