This is Democrat Congressman Bob Etheridge from North Carolina. If this happened last week why did we not find out about it in the news media? Maybe this college student was too freaked out to tell anyone. We can't tolerate congressmen acting like this from either party.
Ethridge would be within his right to say no comment, give a non-answer, or even be snippy with them, if their questions were obnoxious he might even tell them to go to hell, but this was a physical assault. He has no right to grab people like that. People have been arrested and charged with assault for such behavior. The kid did not seem to be a trouble maker, but we can't tell from the video and we may not be seeing the whole exchange. We have no idea what their agenda was and can assume it is right leaning due to the question being about supporting Obama's agenda. He certainly did not say anything ugly to Ethridge and even if he had that sort of thing happens to congressmen. People are going to ask them questions, especially the ones they don't want to answer. No he does not have any right to know who the kid is. This is a democrat acting like that, Damn. Had he been drinking? There clearly was another camera, did he notice that?
Update: Congressman Ethridge apology.
"I have seen the video posted on several blogs. I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction and I apologize to all involved. Throughout my many years of service to the people of North Carolina, I have always tried to treat people from all viewpoints with respect. No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does not justify a poor response. I have and I will always work to promote a civil public discourse."
