Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Report on OBL's facilitated escape at Tora Bora

WASHINGTON — Osama bin Laden was unquestionably within reach of U.S. troops in the mountains of Tora Bora when American military leaders made the crucial and costly decision not to pursue the terrorist leader with massive force, a Senate report says.
The report asserts that the failure to kill or capture bin Laden at his most vulnerable in December 2001 has had lasting consequences beyond the fate of one man. Bin Laden's escape laid the foundation for today's reinvigorated Afghan insurgency and inflamed the internal strife now endangering Pakistan, it says.
Staff members for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Democratic majority prepared the report at the request of the chairman, Sen. John Kerry, as President Barack Obama prepares to boost U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

It is about time they addressed this obvious piece of evidence in the engineering of the war in Iraq and it’s extensions into other countries in the middle east.

Delta Force did everything they could to get Osama Bin Laden and their plans kept getting disapproved. This is the kind of mission needed to get to the leaders of terrorist groups. This kind of action helps prevent wars and thousands from being killed and countries from being destroyed. If war is the goal their actions would be sabotaged just like they were. If the government wanted to divert more war actions they would have given them orders to follow through with their plans even if it was very dangerous for them because the lives of a few are not as valuable as the lives of many. I can only imagine how this soldier feels. Was the Bush administration surprised at how good Delta Force was? I knew how good they were back then and kept asking why they were not tracking him down and taking him out.

The Bush regime clearly let Osama Bin Laden get away by leaving them a corridor to escape on more than one occasion and sending just a tiny number of soldiers after him. This was done on purpose, engineered to keep the confabulated rationale behind the invasion of Iraq viable. If Osama Bin Laden were reported dead they would have a more difficult time justifying staying in Iraq. The boogey man they had gotten the people behind would no longer exist. Since we know the invasion was planned years before it happened a reason for the invasion was waited out and I believe helped along by turning a blind eye to the security reports of the plan to use planes to target strategic buildings in this country. In other words they knew about the 9/11 plans and allowed it to happen, at least. It may have been even worse than that. We have significant documentation that they had information about this plot.

Our own actions have caused much of the radicalism in the area and altering our actions in the future will help. More war will of course cause more radicalism. Having trials for war crimes committed by the Bush administration would be the best solution. It would air out the lies and give those harmed some justice. The people in this country for the most part would like to see this done and so would the people of the world. Will the Bush administration have the courage to do it? I believe Eric Holder does, but does President Obama? First the extraordinary rendition trials in Italy(kidnapping) and now the inquiry into Blair’s actions in the U.K, when will we take responsibility for our own actions? A little progress is being made in other countries. The United States is the main player, where is our senate hearing on the lies told to the citizens in this country? Perhaps this hearing about what happened at Tora Bora is the beginning. The real solution to terrorism is to look at the causes and provide solutions. Hating a country or a race of people or a particular religion because of a small group of terrorists actions has been used for thousands of years by different countries to start wars. It is a favorite of the U.S.

From Article III section 3 of the constitution:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

I know it is a stretch, but by declaring this false war GWB with the help of many caused us to go to war thereby causing death and injury to our own soldiers. By not allowing Delta company to take action against Osama Bin Laden, by allowing OBL an escape route by strategically allowing an escape corridor, by removing OBL’s family secretly from the United States before they could even be questioned, by manufacturing evidence which was false, by creating radicalism which threatens our security, by allowing private defense contractors to control a large part of our military, by ignoring security intelligence warnings of the 9/11 plot, and by allowing the wall that separates church and state to be taken down in the pentagon which affected the military I believe GWB, Rumsfeld, Rice, Cheney and many more are guilty of treason against the United States. Will they ever be charged? I doubt it. My only hope is the world will insist on a trial.
