Many people have discussed Sarah Palin as a narcissist. Because we have had so many movies that portray psychopaths as almost mythical supernatural characters most people have no idea they are actually everywhere and not easily identified. Over the past few decades our country has been harmed by psychopaths in politics, corporations, the judicial systems, our regulatory agencies and religion who are using our resources to satisfy their selfish greed and sick agendas. We have to understand this to fix our problems.

It is very difficult to differentiate between a narcissist and a psychopath. One of the keys to telling the difference is to remember they have very different thinking processes going on in their psyches, but manifest some similar characteristics. The narcissist has a conscience, feels normal emotions and may be a person in a lot of emotional pain, even though some of them inflict a lot of damage on others. Some narcissists can also offer something positive to society. Life would not be as entertaining without comedians and actors who are narcissists trying to get attention. The psychopath has no conscience nor normal emotions. Psychopaths and narcissists have widely differing intentions that manifest in similar behaviors.

When all the new research began to be published about psychopaths I was not interested in it at first. I thought, what is there to know as I thought they were very obvious. I was wrong about that, the more clever psychopaths are not obvious at all, even to experts on psychopathy. Some have become politicians, religious leaders, CEOs and have taken other positions of power. As a country we have not been able to see behind their masks and have large numbers of people who are taken in by psychopathic politicians. The unsuccessful, not too bright ones get caught, but many are clever enough to fly under the radar of law enforcement. Look at Sarah Palin’s use of shyster lawyers at the Department of Law (attorney general’s office) and some in private practice to manipulate the law, intimidate and threaten people, or reinterpret laws to protect her. This allowed her to do illegal or unethical acts without consequences. Psychopathic politicians have networks, sycophants, financial backing, and advisers to a very alarming extent. They are charming, charismatic and tell people what they know they want to hear to win their support.

Sarah Palin is not as stupid as she appears. The intelligence of a psychopath is used for manipulation, fakery and game playing. They do what they enjoy. They do not like to do the drudgery of working to get experience or education, that is boring to them. Instead they use a cheating strategy. Having average to high intelligence allows them to navigate among the population as subcriminal psychopaths. Like I have discussed in the past with regard to workplace bully type psychopaths, rather than expertise at the job they are doing their skill lies in mimicking a competent employee to get what they want, so they undermine the real work and the real workers. Then when people who know they are incompetent and harmful start to balk they go after them. Psychopaths who are incarcerated are not necessarily the cleverest, most successful psychopaths. Just like most people I mistook psychopaths in my personal life for narcissists (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) for a long time. I even made excuses to myself for them.
Sarah Palin has a mental health problem, yes, but it is not what everyone thinks. Psychopathy is not considered a mental illness. The peculiarities about the speech of psychopaths and their inability to remember the massive lies they tell, along with the way they try to fake they are experts (such as a foreign policy expert) and make lots of odd mistakes make them look like they have a mental illness or dementia.

Narcissists have deep feelings of inadequacy and are looking for attention or an adoring audience to make themselves feel more adequate, loved, or important. I am in no way saying Sally Field is a narcissist with this next video, she has many positive qualities and I know nothing about her other than she is an actor. It is just that this video demonstrates the inner motivation of a narcissist.

Psychopaths think they are fabulously wonderful the way they are…no, they don‘t think it, they know it as this character Jim Carey played demonstrates.

Dr. Paul Babiak describes the differentiation between Narcissism and Psychopathy in an article he wrote for the ezine, Business Coaching Worldwide:

Both psychopaths and narcissists, unfortunately, come across as self-absorbed, arrogant
and insensitive—making differentiation difficult. However, there are some clues to the difference that the coach can look for.

Anyone can use this information to help identify a psychopath in their life or to avoid voting for one.

The Psychopath
The most obvious traits of the psychopath are charisma, charm and a grandiose sense of self-worth, all somewhat positive traits. Many people actually like and are attracted to psychopaths whom they have just met, only to discover conning, manipulation and deceit—the dark side of this disorder—down the line. Unfortunately, in business coaching situations, it is quite common to find a blend of these traits among executive clients—in the form of self-confidence, assertiveness and influence skills—and to misinterpret them.

The Narcissist
Narcissism is a personality disorder, one of ten documented in the psychological literature. [The new DSM5 will have six personality disorders] The common understanding is that narcissists are 'in love with' themselves and see the world as revolving around their thoughts and needs. To narcissists, the world is their audience, and everyone they meet—and everything that happens—is centered on them. Thus, we describe narcissists as self-centered, selfish, demanding and self-absorbed; yet, they can also be quite charming as well, having learned how to please their audience. True narcissists make up only about one percent of the general population—the same base rate as psychopaths. They are drawn to careers that allow them to receive the attention and power they crave, and to exert influence over others, reinforcing their perceived self-importance, the same as the psychopath; hence, it is not surprising to find a large number of both drawn to executive-level jobs.

Clarifying Muddy Waters
How is the business coach to avoid the confusion? If you suspect your client has psychopathic tendencies, look for other signals. To separate the narcissist from the psychopath, one must go further into the traits and characteristics that they do not share. Of the 20 psychopathic traits and characteristics of the psychopath, those that can be gleaned in the context of a normal coaching session include:

Pathological lying:
Psychopaths can and will lie about many things, even those things you or I would not waste time lying about. Lying can often be uncovered through the many inconsistencies in their 'story' as it evolves over the course of a coaching engagement. If you tape record your sessions, try to follow their patter as it twists and turns in response to your questions and challenges. At some point, it no longer sounds like resistance, but rather game playing. While the psychopath will talk a good game about integrity and honesty, his or her behaviors will speak of pathological lying.

Emotional poverty: Psychopaths are unable to feel, express or even understand normal human emotions (there is physiological evidence supporting this). Thus, they will be unable to express the range of emotions (except anger and rage) you would find in others. Even though some successful psychopaths can mimic some emotion, they do not do a good job of it. Many display a very flat affect while describing events that others would be hard-pressed to discuss without some emotional display. Or, they will overact the emotion, going beyond what is 'normal' for any given emotional situation. Look for remorse and empathy; you won't find them in the psychopath. They are cold inside and have no conscience as we understand it.

Blaming others:
This is a very common trait that becomes more evident as sessions go on. While most clients who blame others for their difficulties will eventually 'get over it' and take responsibility for their own actions, psychopaths will not. (Note: If they seem to, watch out for the lying and manipulation as noted above.)

True narcissists are more problematic, as helping them often involves delving deeper into the psyche. Underneath the bravado and attention-seeking, they are not all that self-confident or sure of themselves. Rather, they suffer with intense feelings of inadequacy with which their audience helps them cope. Because lack of self-confidence is not often a trait of successful executives, it is imperative that these feelings be hidden from peers, subordinates and coaches. The narcissist will find negative feedback demoralizing and exhibit emotional responses based upon the perceived challenges to his or her personality. Much coaching work will revolve around helping the narcissist resolve internal conflicts and regain the approval of his or her 'audience.'

The psychopath, on the other hand, while similar in appearance to the narcissist on the surface, is not plagued by such unconscious dynamics. Rather, psychopaths do not need an audience. They are, for all intents and purposes, their own audience. Seeking and demanding power and attention is not driven by a need for reassurance, but by a means to manipulate those in the surroundings; they are consummate game players. The psychopath takes the floor and arrogantly demands respect as a way to manipulate others.

The Curious Mating Habits of the Wild American Psychopath

I am not a psychologist nor have I played one on TV, I have a bachelor of science degree in nursing and have worked with psychopaths in the past. I have read the research about them over my adult life due to finding them fascinating. I have had some psychopaths in my life, they are drawn to empathic types like nurses and we unknowingly let them exploit us because of our own issues. Since my workplace bullying which caused PTSD my interest is even stronger because I recognized psychopathic traits in at least two of the people involved.

A couple years ago I said to a probation officer as we walked down a hall past a picture of Sarah palin, "This is the probation department and you have a picture of a fucking psychopath on your wall." That was just one of the many reasons they loved me (sarcasm). It has been fascinating to watch large numbers of people be sucked in by her when she was so obvious. They kept sending her money even recently. Some of those people retaliated against those who tried to tell them the truth, well actually they still are.

Sarah Palin made this statement yesterday in Korea while speechifying, “Knowledge must be used for a noble cause.” I agree with whoever wrote that statement for her, but there were other parts of her speech which were rather dangerous. I am presenting this information for a noble cause. We need citizens to be aware of the dangers psychopaths pose to children, our crime levels, our political structure, world peace, our economy, our health, scientific research, our planet, OK everything. Sarah Palin is a great educational tool.
You can look at the Palin baby stories and say to yourself, this is not as it seems. You can say, that woman did not give birth to that baby, no way. You can listen to or read Sarah's wild ride story and know the whole thing is a lie. You can realize there are many people in on hiding many parts of the stories. You can look at the spacing of the births and realize they must have lied about birth dates. You can read about the Palin family Social Security information being sealed and realize how strange that is and know they are hiding something. You can look at the pictures and conclude the ones supposedly taken after births may be staged or from a birth that happened a while back. You can wonder how many babies there are, and just how many Bristol gave birth to or how young she was when she started popping them out. You can wonder if someone else had one of the babies. You can look at just one little aspect of a scenario and realize many people are lying. You can wonder if Sherry Johnston was set up to shut her and Mercede up for the years of her sentence and probation. But, you can’t at this point put a finger on just exactly what has happened.

There are so many theories and so much evidence it is dizzying. To understand the reality of how twisted the Palin baby mysteries are one has to look at a lot of the evidence. The information has been compartmentalized, propagandized, hidden, and people with authority working in government agencies have been used to facilitate this and the court system is involved. There are ear issues, obvious faked hospital birth scenarios, switched babies, faked pregnancies, and threats against those writing about their attempts to sort this conundrum out by shyster lawyers. When commenters on blogs provide links to pictures or articles they often become inaccessible almost immediately, this was very evident the past two days on Jesse Griffin's blog Immmoral Minority, but happens on all the many blogs that discuss the Palin baby conundrums. They have exploited the normal reaction that this just can’t have happened because it is too strange and the MSM did not do any investigative reporting to help the public understand the truth.

I believe they made the story very complex as a general strategy to divert attention from a simple truth, but what exactly is that truth? Probably something like Bristol started having babies at a very young age and Sarah Palin did not want the public to find out. She faked a pregnancy to cover it up when selected as a V.P. candidate and then had Bristol do the same to cover a second baby she had recently had. After all she was wearing the mask of a Christian woman and family values politician, a teenage daughter who had given birth to at least two babies did not fit with that persona. There is no telling how many babies there really are as Bristol appeared to be pregnant on dancing with the stars and then was seen with a newborn claiming it was her godson. All this while scamming money as an abstinence spokesperson.

Many will not touch this story due to fear of being labeled a conspiracy theorist or wackjob. Get real, we have evidence that some conspiracies do occur. It takes courage to discuss this story, I commend those who do and have done so in the past, there are many of them who have put a lot of energy into alerting the public while being ignored by the main stream media.

This whole cluster is complex on purpose to obscure the truth. This reminds me of the JFK assassination and the general procedures the CIA uses to compartmentalize, obscure and replace the truth with a whole new story (always remember this). Eventually some of the players in this sick game are going to mature, come to a realization and tell the truth or come forward simply for a profit or out of anger. Some of the players were or are children who are sadly being exploited and there will be more to come.

We all know anytime new information is revealed the Palin internet gang stakers are all over the Internet with false information and gaslighting tactics, some of them even pretending to be Trig Truthers to insert information to obscure the truth. They pop up and attack those who tell the truth about not just Palin, but many of her old sycophants. The "Talis Colberg is the most honest man I have ever met" troll is my favorite. They are willing to lie about almost anything. There is a reason for this and knowing why is important to the survival of our country, they have no conscience.

It is important for people to understand children were used as props to further a political career and that does not translate into a good leader for our country. These children are often not in school and Trig does not seem to be getting his special needs met after being used as a campaign prop (or maybe both Trigs). What about the ruffled ear, FAS looking baby that was in a couple pictures and then disappeared?

Even though Sarah Palin at this point could not end up as president, there are others just like her waiting in the wings. A clue is most are wrapped in a blanket of religious fakery. A large number of our leaders are people who think of only what they want, what benefits them or the special interests who give them money (which is still about what benefits them) and work together in networks funded by the plutocracy because as a country we have not been good at detecting those who take and have nothing to give. How they treat their children is a indicator of how they would treat the citizens of this country.

“The relatively new discipline of sociobiology argues that psychopathy is not so much a psychiatric disorder as an expression of a genetically based reproductive strategy. Sociobiologists assert that one of our main roles in life is to reproduce, thereby passing on our genes to the next generation. We can do so in a number of ways. One reproductive strategy is to have only a few children and to nurture them carefully. Thus insuring that they have a good chance of survival. A different strategy is to have so many children that some are bound to survive, even if they are neglected or abandoned. Psychopaths supposedly adhere to an extreme version of the latter strategy, they reproduce as often as possible and waste little energy in worrying about the welfare of their offspring. In this way they propagate their genes with little or no personal investment.
For male psychopaths the most effective way to have lots of children is to mate with and quickly abandon a large number of women…The behavior of female psychopaths also reflects a cheating strategy, one in which sexual relations are had with a large number of men and the welfare of the offspring is ignored…When asked why she would want to have another child given her obvious lack of concern for the fate of her first three she said, “I love children”. Alaska is far away from the other states and information is harder to access. They can put on any mask they want here and who would know they were completely fake. There is certainly nothing wrong with starting over or wanting something different in your life, or deciding to change for the better, but most people who do this are not looking for a new supply of people to deceive.

There are of course people besides psychopaths who neglect, abandon and abuse children or sleep around. Many people have lots of sex when young, but don't have a plan to abandon babies or collect them for selfish reasons. This is not the same as having sex with lots of people while preventing pregnancy or getting pregnant and then taking care of the child. There is a difference between a woman who gets pregnant accidentally and then learns to use birth control and one who continues to repeatedly get pregnant, states she wants the children and then neglects them. An immature teenager who gets pregnant, especially unintentionally, is not unusual and in most cases means very little. You have to look at the whole picture to sort out why people do what they do. In this case we do however have an overwhelming amount of information, so much it can’t be sorted out as yet.

Not all psychopathic males and females leave their current mates or spouses, they fool around instead. They leave when their mate is no longer of use to them. When putting on a play you don't want the actors to leave until the show is over.

Unnamed Sources Were Joe McGinniss’s Only Choice To Protect People

The story needed to be told and unnamed sources were the only way it could be done. I commented on Joe McGinniss’ blog a while back that I was not going to buy his book because he was attacking some of his supporters and Alaskan bloggers. Later someone told me I had to read The Rogue because he discussed the typical bullying and intimidation that happens in rural Alaska similar to what I had experienced. So, I changed my mind and bought it. He nails it. I enjoyed the book because even though he probably does not agree with me he described Sarah Palin as the psychopath that she is.

Joe McGinniss wrote an article for USA Today explaining his necessity for unnamed sources in Alaska:

"Why is anonymous sourcing OK in Washington or New York but not in Alaska, where the consequences of being quoted by name can be far more severe? In Alaska, people refuse to speak on the record about Palin for fear of losing their livelihoods, and threats of violence.”

They can also be arrested, wrongfully imprisoned, have their property stolen, be blocked from getting their PFD, have their beloved pet harmed, end up with a severe case of PTSD, become suicidal and end up disabled and much more.

“As I document through named sources in my book, throughout her career in public office, Palin — often with the assistance of her husband, Todd — has relied on intimidation to silence her critics. She and her husband have a long-standing and well-deserved reputation for settling scores, for seeking vengeance, for exacting retribution from those they believe have been disloyal.”

This paragraph describes just a few of the many Sarah and Todd Palin psychopathic behaviors. Not only are people afraid of the Palins they also have their flying monkeys who attack people verbally or in written form, spread rumors, make threatening phone calls, sabotage jobs and exclude people from social activities. People also have to worry about the effect the disclosure of their name might have on their spouse, children or other relatives. The fear is well founded.

After about nineteen or twenty months of workplace bullying while working at a very backwards and dysfunctional hospital called Norton Sound Hospital (Norton Sound Health Corporation) in Nome Alaska I had a complete melt down. This was after I had been bewildered about what was going on there and watched several others lose it in as little as three months before me. If I had been in most other states rather than the criminal charges I would have been sent for psychiatric help for the traumatic injury that was caused to my psyche, then there would have been an investigation of what was going on at that hospital. Instead I was arrested with a crazy number of charges, many were based on out and out lies. Workplace bullies don’t give a target help, they continue to try and destroy them. The torture was continued afterwards by the workplace bullies and their sycophants in the village as well as a malfeasant prosecutor manipulated by them, a drunken public defender (and some sober ones), a judge who doesn’t seem to know what due process is and clearly was protecting the psychopaths who caused the problem to begin with due to wanting to stay on the bench. This was a mobbing that even included lies written about me in the newspaper.

I stayed in this village awaiting a trial they would never allow to happen, I thought I was still in the United States, so I kept pushing for due process. At one point I asked the judge in a note if Nome had broken off from Alaska and floated over to Russia. All they did was cancel hearings over an over, not notify me of dates of hearings and finally a public defender told me lies to get me to take a plea (no deal). The judge tried to block me from going to one hearing telling the public defender the defendant did not need to go to that type of hearing, this was because they were railroading me and knew I would be outraged by what was going to happen. They would either move my hearings to the end of the day or have them in a very small courtroom with no one else around because I would speak up. They don’t like it when people speak up in Nome. The judge would tell me I had a lawyer and I would ask him if he was sure about that.

Several people tried to convince me to run from Alaska while all I was capable of doing was fighting back and one was angry at me for not doing so. I was told by outside sources the judicial system here is corrupt, they we certainly right, but it is also ineptitude. I could not have imagined a place in the United States where running from a corrupt court system would be necessary at that time. I am much wiser now. I know a lot more about psychopaths, workplace bullying and Alaska’s corruption now. I probably should have run, but that just is not me. Instead I have been outspoken about all of it. What I have learned is that when there is great corruption there is no justice.

I got permission finally to go visit a relative in the lower 48 who claimed he was very ill (that’s another story). While there I got strange phone calls from the public defender agency. First they said the prosecutor was upset I had not given them my flight itinerary, but I had taken it to their office with lots of details along with the phone number and address of where I would be. Interesting they were able to find the phone number that was included in that information to call me isn’t it. I was also told that my public defender had to leave town suddenly. I said, “You mean she went to rehab?” Next phone call was a statement that the prosecutor wanted to know if I was coming back because if I was not he would not be preparing the case. I was puzzled as to why they would think I was not coming back. Relatives had heard my side of the conversation and said, “He does not want you to come back.” I stated that he was getting a big surprise as I wanted a trial to address all the lies.

They prevented me from having a trial and they worked to that end from both sides. The public defender who manipulated that was appointed magistrate in Kotzebue. Quid pro quo?

The defense was a cluster even though I kept telling them what needed to be done, while calling supervisors, legislators, and the governor‘s office to complain. It was very shocking to me just how screwed up some of the people who run the agencies were. I did not understand the appointing of inexperienced, inept, sycophants to cover Palin’s ass thing yet. At that time I had no idea that Sarah Palin was not a real governor and in fact most likely a psychopath running a scam. Trying to deal with these people is a frustrating nightmare and results in more bullying, sabotaging and retaliation, especially when you ask them why they don’t have a clue what they are doing. There is no accountability. The most obvious evidence the public defender agency was compromised was the fact that twice I had done research myself to gather evidence which they refused to have staff verify and then told me they would just call on me to testify and be my own expert witness, yep they did that twice. They never did call on me to present this information. I fell for that twice.

I thought the second one who pulled this might be a real lawyer. As it turns out he had been in some trouble in Texas where he came from and had been a prosecutor. Yes, pne of my defense attorneys was a former prosecutor from Texas. Quinlan Steiner, the PD agency director told me this manipulation to get me to shut up about putting a real defense together was the fault of just one of the public defenders, but the second lie came out of another one’s mouth. That means it is S.O.P.

Then later because I was on disability I had limited choices for places to rent, ended up in a dump and was accused by a conman landlord and his abusive brother falsely of a crime I believe one perpetrated on the other and then scapegoated first one person, then when that did not pan out I was accused. They were covering for an insurance scam, angry at me for using the landlord tenant act to recover money they owed me, etc. The one starved/tortured my cat and stole or destroyed my property. This was not new behavior for him. This all happened while several government agencies, the governor’s office, corrections staff and the public defender agency were told by myself due to this man’s psychopathy it was happening. The state troopers also knew he would steal my property and one of them took pictures of all of my property before he had to arrest me (I am sure he knew I was innocent) due to a warrant issued from Judge Esch in Nome hundreds of miles away based on no evidence, just the word of two lying conmen and the manipulation of a malfeasant prosecutor. The state troopers destroyed those pictures, never charged either of these men with crimes and then told several lies about it. Almost none of the paperwork was sent to me when I made a FOIA request. Later when I was released I got a court order to get my property and a state trooper blocked me from getting it, except some token items the conman gave him as if I had left a few things there. This trooper then threatened to arrest me for disorderly conduct for getting upset about it. He became very angry when I said I was calling my attorney for some reason.

As I have discussed before in some detail I was moved around to four different prisons/jails while being told I was going to a hearing in Nome (I never got to Nome), was tortured, denied access to a defense attorney who should have immediately gotten me released, denied health care (it was dangerous), my medication was abruptly stopped (dangerously) they tried to put me in administrative segregation for writing grievances (and more) and bullied by corrections officers. I saw horrors and experienced some. I had a nervous breakdown at the fourth facility and ended up in the mental health unit, it was like a medieval torture chamber. The moving of inmates like this is done by immigration often to block access to media, family and break the inmate. I asked them if I was at Abu Ghraib. They made me beg them for toilet paper and fed me a very low calorie diet. I lost eight pounds in just a few days. Then after all this a psychologist who had never even had a conversation with me presented in my window and said, “You don’t have a mental illness, you are just arrogant and nasty.” What kind of mood did he think I was going to be in wrongfully arrested, PTSD meds abruptly stopped, knowing my cat was being harmed, property was being stolen and all the rest? This is how they do things here. No conversation with a patient never stops them from just making up the conclusion they want.

Later as I have also written in detail, I was harassed by probation officers in a rather illogical way on several occasions which I believe was encouraged by outside influence. Remember the harassment about “prescription strength Tylenol” and when I told them there was no such thing they threatened to send me to prison? Not only a violation of my civil rights, but also pretty strange.

While still in Nome where the workplace bullying leading to the meltdown happened I was harassed when I went to the grocery store or a restaurant, severely medically bullied at the only clinic which was also at the hospital where I was workplace bullied, had an attorney I tried to hire do strange things like laugh when my name was called in court, was bullied by my public defender who liked to meet with me when no one else was in the office (no witnesses), had the judge and director of the public defender agency become abusive when I pointed out she had big problems, received death threats on my phone and whispered threats in public. There was an incident in Nome’s history similar to something in Joe’s book, a minister who wanted bar hours reduced had death threats leading him to have people stay with him at the church for protection.

All this time I had no job or income for seven months. The doctors refused to fill out the paperwork I needed to apply for disability, the Social Security people had to fly me to Anchorage to see a psychiatrist who had come up from the lower 48 instead and I was told the doctors have a history of not filling out Social Security paperwork. I was suicidal with the original melt down, received no help, and was even left alone for a month with the staff at the hospital knowing I was suicidal. Apparently they knew workplace bullying was happening and did not care people were being harmed. They also did not care that sometimes in these situations the bullying target can become violent in a murder/suicide against those who have destroyed their lives because the bullying was allowed to continue.

When I requested the judge allow me to go for help in the courtroom, he told me my besotted public defender would help me, I said that she would not and he did nothing. Hell, I would have been surprised if she could find the right forms to fill out. I was continually re-traumatized over and over and could not get any help over a very long period of time. This was a clear set up to traumatize someone severely, believe me they know exactly what they are doing. They have little networks that are well established to destroy people, they work together, it‘s gang mobbing. Those who have lived in Alaska a long time know about it. I could not have even imagined that people could be so evil and even more bizarre to me is that it is allowed and there is no response from the government unless you have money or power when complaints are made.

Within the social services and mental health communities in rural Alaska there is gossiping and sabotaging with respect to patients and many practitioners in the Anchorage area are quite disgusted by it. It is just about impossible to get help unless you are for some reason liked by the practitioners. They seem to like uneducated, compliant people who just go with the flow and don’t question them. When you work with people like that you don’t have to know what you are doing, so they run off any client that has a clue.

It is also clear that some of them don’t like people with left leanings. That immature right wing cliquish behavior does go on with them in a most unprofessional way. Isolation from influence from highly skilled, ethical and trained colleagues and lack of educational opportunities are a large part of the problem. Then there is that right wing distrust of scientific education as well. I have been misdiagnosed over and over with some really strange conclusions, often completely contradicting each other. I do have rather severe PTSD and I was suicidal, but in the rural areas there is no point in even trying to get counseling. It is just going to cause more trauma. Once I called the suicide hotline and the guy who answered said, “I don’t know why they are sending those calls to me.” This is just one of many reasons people learn not to seek help for mental health issues, frustration of trying to get help traumatizes the patient even more.

The bullying behavior in the social services includes the homeless shelters on the Kenai Peninsula. After being wrongfully imprisoned I had a court order that I could not go to the place I had lived to even get my property and my cat was very ill and mentally disturbed from being tortured. So was I. I was wrongfully accused, wrongfully imprisoned and the court blocked me from getting my property and the state of Alaska dumped me back in Homer homeless. I unfortunately had to go to the shelter. I was bullied by the director of the shelter in a group with multiple witnesses, two were so horrified they got up and left. There were other issues, I had to make lots of phone calls on my cell phone to try to get things done and I was harassed about going outside to make phone calls which is the only place I could get reception. Rather than be supportive they took every opportunity they could to belittle me or harass me. I also witnessed them doing this to others. What kind of women’s shelter is that? They also had people on drugs and alcohol causing problems and were indignant about complaints. One day I and another woman witnessed another resident who was so drunk and high she passed out standing at the kitchen sink, head first into the sink. When I went to this shelter I was just trying to hold on to my sanity by a thread in total disbelief that there were so many horrible people in this state and it included the government agencies. The way I was treated was unconscionable and I did not know then what I know now, they gossip from place to place and spread information which is often false about people here. It is one of the ways they seek to harm. When I attempted to go to a board meeting to discuss the bullying the director turned out to be the chairman and I was not allowed to attend. The bullying director was the chair of the board overseeing her performance in that agency, that is not a good sign.

When I was in the shelter in Kenai I complained about the filth in the bathrooms and crazy behaviors of the those who were clearly on drugs. It took me three hours to clean a bathroom one day. They like the drugged people who are too high to care about their surroundings so they keep them and throw out the non-crazy acting sober people. The staff was very dysfunctional staying in the office and gossiping rather than interacting with clients. There was a drug lock up and narcotics were frequently taken from client prescriptions by staff. I was bullied after complaining about problems by being moved several times to what they considered problem rooms in rapid succession. I witnessed them do something really awful to a woman who was an alcoholic in recovery and she relapsed. They would do things like tell someone as they were cooking dinner for the whole place they had to pack their things and move to another room. If they really wanted to be assholes they would do that and then tell the woman she had to have a meeting the next morning with the director, but refused to tell her why. It was clear this was being done on purpose just to cause people to blow up. It was really sick. These are well known tactics of serial bullies. I was put in a room with a woman who was constantly manipulating for drugs, she told me to go to a doctor and fake a back injury and request Oxycontin. My reaction was WTF and no way, she then started telling staff all kinds of lies about me to cause me trouble. She was a very sick woman and the social workers on staff should have been able to figure this out. Other residents witnessed incidents where nothing happened yet she ran off all histrionic to complain to staff. This woman wanted to get her grandbaby who was in foster care due to her daughter being incarcerated. We told staff we were horrified by this. She was on so much Valium she would drop the baby and one day a blood curdling scream came out of her room from the baby, OCS was called and the baby was removed. I can only imagine what happened, but it was so obvious something was going to happen, that I was stunned by the inept decisions of the staff. It was really weird how they tried to help this woman get that baby when she was clearly a danger to it. They kept this woman and others who caused lots of problems for long periods of time. The director threw me out on a day I had just been to see a nurse practitioner who almost put me in the hospital. I had a very high fever. She most likely had gossip from the director in Homer that I tried to talk to the board about her and she decided to dump me to shut me up. How is that shutting me up thing working for ya?

The only place I could go was a horrible hotel which has the nickname of Sodom and Gomorrah. It was like living in hell, prostitutes, drunks passed out in the hall, noise all night, cigarette smoke. Yes, it was very similar to the women’s shelter, only I had a clean bathroom and no psycho-woman in my room trying to get me to get her Oxycontin from a doctor. If I had ended up homeless on the streets they would have been even more pleased to throw me out. I had no other option due to my income level and the multiple charges out of Nome. I certainly could not go back to the shelter in Homer. This is in contrast to Brother Francis in Anchorage where they do their darndest to treat everyone with dignity and don’t put up with bad behavior. The interesting thing is the two women’s shelters on the Kenai are attractive yet people are treated ugly on the inside while Brother Francis is utilitarian with a system that welcomes people with warmness. They put up with dysfunctional behavior of the mentally ill and are very good at managing the severely mentally ill people who come to their shelter.

I have two friends who have also been thrown out of both of these shelters, it is a frequent occurrence and an extension of the bullying that starts with the directors and runs down through the staff . One of my friends said to me, “They threw us out because we are better than they are.” I told her no, they threw us out because they felt we were a threat to their dysfunction, bullying and incompetence being exposed. Someone should send them a memo that this tactic does not shut up some personality types. It is interesting that the two best staff from the shelter in Homer had been fired and were working in Kenai when I got there. I bet they are gone from Kenai by now.

The point of discussing this is to demonstrate that even psychiatric information is not confidential in Alaska, they will gossip about clients. This changes attitudes and outcomes for people. Those doing the gossiping have an agenda and a reason they want to harm a particular person and it is generally to protect themselves from their own incompetence or unethical behavior.

I have asked staff at HHS what they are doing about this. They are very aware of it yet have no solutions. They are always willing to laugh at my stories such as the social worker who told me to hitch hike from Homer to Anchorage to check myself into the hospital while suicidal as it would be safe due to my not being a young, cute girl or the doctor who told me I was bipolar when I described symptoms similar to MS and sleeping problems or the psychologist who after I described a story about corrupt cops who were drug dealers and a hospital that was scamming the government big time in a border town in New Mexico which ended in me putting my possessions in storage and running because I was afraid I would be found dead in the desert wrote in his notes simply that I had a problem at work so I left town. When I read that one from my medical record late at night I laughed so loud I was afraid I had disturbed my sleeping neighbor. Then there was the incident in which a social worker told me I was paranoid with psychotic tendencies (but I was not allowed to see the psychiatrist for three months) and then a psychologist a couple days later told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with me. A friend called me a few days later and said he had sent a letter to someone we knew soliciting sex in exchange for him helping her keep her child, guess I wasn‘t young and cute enough to get offers of sex. The public defender agency had someone who was not licensed to even diagnose, make a crazy diagnosis for me over the phone from another state. His diagnosis was so nuts I called the board of licensing in that state and found out he was not licensed as a psychologist and they investigated. The public defender was delighted at his diagnosis and had called me in when normally she would refuse to see me to try to prove I was wrong about the PTSD, I just laughed and told her it was ridiculous. Then they had a psychiatrist from another state who put about twenty-five false items in a report for the court about me that included the false statement that my father sexually molested me when I was a child. At first I thought he sent them the wrong report, but after thinking about his narcissism I began to suspect psychopathy. It is possible he gave the public defender agency exactly what they asked him to put in the report, who knows. Several psychiatrists have told me I have PTSD which is more than obvious and so is the fact that I meet some of the criteria for Obsessive/Compulsive Personality Disorder, but not enough for a diagnosis. OCPD characteristics are often found in critical care nurses. Now dammit everyone go wash your hands and use proper procedure.

In Homer I was bullied by some of the right wing bullies there when I held an Obama sign across from the poling place. I asked the staff at the poling place where I should stand and even called the police to ask them to clarify it. I knew they would cause trouble. The police in many of the small towns in Alaska only react to those with power, money or influence so they did not respond to my call. They only came when the right wingers in the poling place decided to change the door they measure picketing distance from in the middle of an election after years of using another door. They called the police to move me three times that day while right wing wack jobs drove up and down the street honking and flipping me off.

There were other things that happened like not getting my PFD. The year I was wrongfully arrested I had applied three times and kept being told they did not have a record of my application. In fact I had a letter ready to be mailed to them right next to me that I had just written the night of the arrest.

I have so many more stories and examples, but these should serve to support what Joe McGinnis is saying about people who are afraid to go on the record here in Alaska. I am outspoken, pissed off, disgusted and outraged by all of this and will not be shut up. Yes, it can get really ugly and dangerous here, you better believe it. I have been listening to The Help by Kathryn Stockett. The black maids in the book talk about how a white woman could blackball them from getting a job as a maid and influence their landlord to evict them while convincing all the others not to rent to them. It so reminds me of what goes on in Alaska. But, just like Joe McGinnis discusses in his book Alaska also has some wonderful people who would do anything to help people. I call them the real Alaskans.

I contacted the governor’s office under Sarah Palin about many of these issues because silly me I thought they would want to actually fix the problems. I sent a fifty page letter with twenty pages of documentation attached , sent multiple emails, and made phones calls sometimes daily to them. I was ignored and hung up on. We now know the governor’s office under Sarah Palin was essentially closed for business, except for grifting, manipulating and bullying. Eventually I was told the Department of Law-lessness told them not to talk to me or help me. They were too busy working to cover up and manipulate the truth about Palin’s unethical behaviors to do much of anything else. Talis Colberg, the Attorney General was a sycophant put in place by psychopath Sarah Palin to use for unethical activities.

So, while people may find the bullying Joe McGinniss wrote about difficult to swallow I think he may be sugar coating it for two reasons. He may not want to piss off people in Alaska by telling the whole truth and he may feel people in the lower 48 just won’t believe the whole truth as it is just too hard to believe. For one thing the threats with guns that goes on here would result in arrests in other states. We have seen this lack of understanding of Alaskan culture with regard to the MSM and some reviewers of his book because they don’t have enough information to actually know what they are talking about, so they base it on how things work where they live. Joe McGinniss came here and experienced some of the threats and bullying himself. I could hardly imagine it myself even while it was happening which is one reason it made me so sick, so I understand why they don‘t get it but Joe is not exaggerating. His writing rings very true.

Dr. Hare describes psychopaths as "intraspecies predators” and states there are 2 million psychopaths in North America, about the same as the number of schizophrenics.

The most annoying and dangerous psychopath in Alaska has declined to run for president to the relief those with I.Q.s above 80, but what about the other psychopaths running for president? What about the annoying yapping that will continue to come out of Sarah Palin’s “unshackled” gobhole through this whole election campaign? If there is one thing I can’t stand about a psychopath it’s that they can‘t STFU. Their spewing of crazy mixed up words that make no sense because they are trying to BS as if they have some kind of expertise when they are clueless. They do that wordsalad talk because they have no emotional connection to any of the words they are saying. They keep contradicting themselves while talking because they are constantly lying. These trailers are from the film Fishead and in no way demonstrate how amazing this documentary is. I strongly suggest following the link and watching the whole thing. They start by describing what psychopaths are and their role in the problems we have in our country. They then go on to discuss how the dampening of emotions by drugs are keeping many people from taking action about the problems of our society and contributing to their own antisocial behavior. This explains a lot, such as when the psychopathic workplace bully goes after the best workers while the drugged co-workers sit by and say nothing. They then become depressed and end up on antidepressants or perhaps sedatives. The bullied worker then ends up with PTSD and ends up on drugs too. Of course many are taking numbing medications to deal with the “psychopathic conditions” we have in our country right now. Half way through the movie the question of why the rest of us are not doing anything about this is discussed. A solution is presented.

The news media was not the whole reason Weiner had to resign. Of course most of the news media is owned by some delusional self serving people with far right leanings who directed MSM to go after Weiner. This is not the whole story however, the Democrats chose to join the group mobbing. Many did not like his progressive politics or his blunt factual way of presenting his arguments. Their excuse that he is a distraction keeping them from working on the economy is very transparent as far as I am concerned. What a ridiculous argument. The now right leaning, heavily corporate influenced Democratic Party seek to quiet any strong progressive voices. He fought against the crappy health care bill we ended up with in favor of single payer health care. This means the corporations would have been lobbying both the Republicans and the Democrats to get rid of him, after all they are the real decision makers.

This by the way, is a form of bullying and makes people sick with all friends and allies abandon the target due to fear. They are afraid they might be next if they show any kind of spine to defend those who are unjustly attacked by bullies. Just like chickens who will peck a bleeding chicken to death they join in with the flock. Keep in mind this has an effect on those legislators who are observing that might have a skeleton in their closet, as almost everyone does (and if they don't something can be arranged). The message is cooperate or be exposed and destroyed.

Political bullying is similar to school bullying or workplace bullying. It is done by those who are very primitive in their thinking, such as, jealousy, feelings of low self esteem, and thinking they can do whatever they want to get whatever they want, along with much of their actions being based on feeling bad about themselves in the presence of a person who they feel outshines them to make them look bad. Their actions are designed to destroy the target, emotionally, financially and even to rob them of their mental health. Giving information to MSM and bloggers is the same as the typical false rumor spreading of workplace bullies. I have to wonder what might have been going on behind the scenes to lead up to this incident. Bullies find weaknesses of targets and exploit them (everyone has a weakness). We know there are some who are capable of most anything in the political world and clearly many have traits of sociopathy.

I could have respect for any politician who says all who engage in scandalous sexual behavior should resign from political positions and those who consistently say they don’t give a rat’s ass what politicians do in their own personal sex lives. This is not what happens however, the scandals are all treated differently just as defendants in court are treated according to their connections with power and money along with their ability to hire a good attorney and essentially buy justice. This situation comes from the same kind of logic used to not charge Palins with crimes or give them light sentences while others get harsh treatment by the courts. It also comes from the same thinking that allows those who engineer torture to go unpunished while punishing the immature kids who were trained to follow orders or else.

Jesse Griffin has a post on Immoral Minority about Keith Olbermann discussing the Boehner sex scandal that is emerging. This investigation and potential scandal could discredit one of the excuses the MSM, pundits and the leaders of the Democratic Party used to bully Weiner out of his congressional seat. They say his name, Weiner was part of the “distraction“. Well, I have always called Boehner, Boner (because he is one) without having any idea that was his actual nickname, as it turns out. He clearly has alcohol issues and promotes tobacco use (and delivered payoff checks from tobacco to legislators during a vote on the tobacco industry) while sitting on a high horse over everyone else’s ethics and morals.

Having seen the toll of both of these substances on health and watched people die slow miserable deaths because of them for over two decades I am disgusted by the willful ignorance of those who promote them for their own personal gain. As far as I am concerned sexting is a tiny little offense compared to promoting alcohol and tobacco. While sexting might get people into trouble with their significant other or even lead to sex addiction it does not cause the devastating health problems of alcohol and tobacco. They both lead to deaths, huge health care costs to society and in the case of alcohol destroyed lives including prison sentences. Boehner is an opportunistic con man and clearly owned by the tobacco companies. The GOP won’t go after him, except maybe some minor sanctions. They know what he is already and they made him their majority leader. Republicans and their corporate masters will gin up the MSM talk circuit to protect him. Can you imagine the flood of tears he would produce to "demonstrate" the shaming, redemption, forgiveness ritual of the Dominionists? The Democrats will not be able to summons enough scrotal material to make even one full pair in the wake of forcing Weiner out when he didn’t even have sex with the women he sexted against Boehner.

The degree of the infraction in the U.S. judicial systems depends on who you are as we have all seen, apparently this is also true of the legislative bodies. As long as you support the Dominionist cultists and ask for forgiveness you get a free pass. In other words they can do as they damn well please and then be absolved of their sins by their leaders. They distort everything about Christianity for their own purposes including their use of forgiveness as a tool to do anything they so desire. I doubt they would even ask Boner to give back his "Ten Commandments Leadership Award."

Sarah Nixon Palin Update

Nearly a month of former Gov. Sarah Palin's emails are missing from the documents released to media organizations last week, a gap that raises questions about what other emails might also be missing from what's being nationally reported as her record as Alaska governor.

The records include no emails between Dec. 8, 2006 and Dec. 29, 2006. The state's log of emails that it withheld from public release lists none from that time period.

Well now, we have proof the emails were manipulated. Did they think no one would notice a whole month of missing emails from the Palin email dump? This gap is not accounted for by the dicey redaction-removal process the DOL and Governor Parnell facilitated. It’s the Palin equivalent of the Nixon 18 1/2 minute gap. Will the Palin gap ever be recovered? There is no doubt in my mind there are all kinds of missing emails which would not show any kind of gap because they did not span a long period of time. I am sure many people are wondering why their emails are not found in the data base. This was very predictable, but quite amateurish. A thread can easily be removed without anyone noticing. A single email here and there would not be noticeable. To make emails disappear they would have to remove any reciprocals from other people’s accounts as cover. Sehr interessant!

The Redacted/Deleted Palin Emails Don’t Smell Fishy, They Smell Like a Rotting Corpse

Well so far the Palin emails have been a big revelation for the main stream news media. They found out she was obsessively concerned about what they were saying about her, that is the big story. Wow…they just now figured that out. Oh snap. She displayed obvious paper thin skinned paranoia about anything negative anyone said while making continuous negative comments about the “lamestream” media. Behind the scenes at the Palin administration a bunch of high school kids from the better-than clique were running the government and it was clear to anyone who was paying attention. They also had not figured out the obvious blog posts, comments and letters to the editor were engineered by Palin and her crew. In the comments on the online Anchorage Daily News people respond to one commenter by saying, “Hi Todd.“ There was someone or perhaps someone-s who kept writing on line all over the internet that Talis Colberg was the most honest person they had ever met who attacked me when I said anything negative about his lack of ethics on blogs or online newspapers. What that person or persons wrote was clearly a scripted piece of propaganda designed to counteract the actions Colberg took under the Palin administration. He or she was quite upset with me for posting something negative about Colberg on the WSJ law blog and posted the legal charges I had in Nome in an attempt to shut me up. That did not work of course. It seems odd they only discussed the original charges and not all the others they tacked on. I used my real name and this cowardly person who worked for either the DOL or the Palin administration did not, or perhaps this was a hired PR firm.

Of course there are no big revelations from the Palin so called email dump. They had over two years to go through them and pull all incriminating evidence. The DOL is complicit in this, in fact they engineered it. They are not the people’s Attorney General office, they are the legal firm for the protection of all that is Palin. That type of corruption is one reason why they are so dysfunctional and couldn't find justice if it bit them in the ass. The DOL is good at withholding evidence so this was not difficult for them. I think we would be shocked if we knew the man hours and the real cost to the citizens of this state to protect Palin and many others from their actions. Of course they did this and it is what has gone on in Alaska for a long time. The basic system was in place, Palin and some of the most slimy lawyers in the country just ramped it up.

During this period of time they would have also plotted strategies to spin some of the emails as positive and to come up with alternative stories to explain others which appear negative and have the Palin flying monkey squad spin them positive all over the internet and in newspapers. Reading the emails it is clear they designed them to make Sarah Palin appear to be something she is not. This is just a part of the whole marketing strategy her oligarchy backers planned. The bus tour, the propaganda movie, and the release of the heavily redacted and removed emails happening around the same time were no coincidence. Evidence of their plan is as easy to find as new plastic surgery on a Palin.

I know how they operate, so I knew they would remove any relevant information before the release of the emails. It is done here all the time in many ways. You know, just like how the DOL and APD or the DOC claim that just the piece of information the public wants to know can’t be divulged due to privacy or discovery issues when other information just as sensitive has been released. It is also interesting the information always seems to be associated with a controversial decision or a screw up.

The DOL told lies about me, printed false information in their newsletter about me, and told a newspaper false information. Palin’s office told me the DOL directed them to not help me or talk to me and Rick Svobodney told me they would never do anything about the malfeasant ADA Earthman in Nome, then he hung up on me. The whole system is designed to allow them to practice law in a consistently malfeasant way without consequences. That is how they want it. It insures a small number of people will get their way in this state and those who cooperate with them are rewarded. They also have a system of obstacles in place to prevent citizens from using the court system. One of their tactics is to have useless or non-existent law libraries in much of the rural areas. That allows the attorneys to retain power and make more money. This means those who can't afford lawyers have no recourse to fight injustice.

I have dealt with several agencies who are given advice and back up by the DOL on manipulating the truth and jerking citizens around. The Department of Corrections disappears grievances and then they tell you they can’t do anything about an issue because you didn’t file a grievance. I filed over twenty in forty-eight hours and none of them were addressed. At one point a corrections officer was so pissed at me for requesting them he threw a large stack at me and they landed all around me. I filled out all of them and attached a document requesting copies to each one, "because grievances have a tendency to disappear." I was threatened for filing them at other times, but all of them were disappeared. They tried to place me in administrative segregation, aka the hole aka isolation for filling them out and voicing concerns about civil rights violations including lack of health care. I had one of their staff tell me just a couple weeks ago that she can't investigate anything because I did not file any grievances. After years of leaving her messages and being ignored someone with more authority finally told her to talk to me. She was quite angry, defensive and lacking in key information about her department. She was very upset with me for saying, “Oh Jesus Christ” to her BS. You know because torturing inmates and denying their civil rights has so much less of a priority than words she thinks are sacred. When confronted with torturing and denying inmates health care she has no emotional response other than anger at me for having the audacity to bring it up, but taking her lord’s name in vain certainly jacked it up.

Then there was the state troopers who did not respond or intervene in many crimes I reported, did not protect my property or get my cat to safety when they knew exactly what Robin Hume would do to both. They destroyed evidence that an officer obtained to protect me, lied to me (including higher ups, oh especially them), told me it was not against the law to give false information to law enforcement, blocked me from getting my property when I had a court order to go to the property and get it, and then threatened to arrest me for disorderly conduct when I tried to explain to the state trooper what he was doing was wrong. I said for years that all the things that have happened to me could not have just been random. They had to have been directed from someone higher up.

I reported a child in a dangerous situation to OCS and they took five weeks to bother to check. They were gone by then. There are many other agencies such as the board of licensing which pulled a lot of crap as well. They are under the Department of Commerce. The only response I got from the higher ups there was, “Well, that was quite a story”, then no further contact. They are all very well trained in lying, ignoring, destroying the trail of evidence and not returning phone calls. They are all quite haughty and incensed by those who are not a part of the special insider Alaskans who dare to contact them.

One of the main things Sarah Palin did to get her way as governor was to select a bunch of weak personalities with no moral compass to function as her second layer of bullies. They followed her blindly and she left one of them in place as the governor to protect her and boy did he do that for the quittin-ist governor any state has ever seen. She has used the system to her advantage, but the dysfunction of Palin and those running her administration were all so incompetent it has been exposed. Did the MSM catch on? Of course not. In a state and country where a huge percentage of the population can be convinced a woman with a flat abdomen, sporting a tight belted skirt is seven months pregnant what the hell else would we expect?

Remember my hacked emails? Most of the corrupted or missing ones had been sent by myself to Governor Palin or received from someone at the governor’s office, you know useless responses relaying an intent to do nothing. It is interesting that I find absolutely none of them in the Palin email data bases. Not only have they cleared them from the released emails, but someone went into my email account and cleared most of them not too long before the release of the emails. I wonder if this happened to others. Someone (who I wish I could remember) recently wrote the Palin email release smells fishy, the truth is it smells more like a rotting corpse. I certainly hope some news agency or organization with some integrity takes on the fight for the redacted emails in the court system. They would be doing their country a great service.

Arrested for Dancing at the Jefferson Memorial

Adam Kokesh is an anchor for Adam VS the Man on sat TV channel RT. They spoke up loud and clear about their civil rights. Kokesh was among the people arrested for protesting the U.S. District Court’s upholding of the ban on dancing at the Jefferson Memorial on May 28th. Some of their behavior during the arrests I would not recommend because if there are not a lot of witnesses the police are likely to get ugly. It is best to just go limp.

This silent flashdance was due to a case related to a silent dance done by some people celebrating Jefferson’s birthday in 2008. The group on Saturday were charged with demonstrating without a permit. Since it is not permitted to dance at the memorial they would not have been issued a permit. The charges make no logical sense.

During the arrests Thomas Jefferson was heard to say, “When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for people to resort to dancing to demonstrate how screwed up our judicial system is we’re all f***ed. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, whenever the police do something really stupid they claim it is illegal to film it, unless they are doing the recording themselves. Apparently in D.C. that includes the press.

USPS In Alaska Is Working Short Handed. Update

We have been having days in Soldotna where it seemed we did not get our mail delivered. When I put something out to be picked up and it was still there at ten P.M. on Monday. I decided to find out what was up. I knew we had recently lost our beloved whistling mailman to retirement, but that was all I knew.

I spoke with Hector Rivera, the Postmaster here in Soldotna about the mail situation in our community and Alaska. The postal service as everyone already knows is planning cut backs and there is the discussion of cutting service on Saturdays, they also intend to close non-profitable post offices while combining some. That means the Kenai and Soldotna post offices may be combined with all carriers most likely working out of Soldotna. They are essentially not filling the vacant spots to decrease the workforce. The whole of Alaska is one postal district and they are only allowed to use a total of 10% temporary employees for the whole district. Their district manager has rotated staff so different post offices get extra help at varying times. The USPS rather than hire more staff is paying lots of overtime.

They are now short two carriers in Soldotna with the recent retirement of one carrier and one temporary staff on maternity leave. Many days they have only three carriers for five routes. They also have to work vacations in. The carriers are all working overtime up to twelve hours a day to try and get the mail delivered. They have about forty hours worth of mail delivery per day here in Soldotna and if only three carriers are available on a given day they have thirty-six hours of delivery, four hours short, with three carriers working twelve hours each (The hours with overtime equal 4.5 carriers when 5 are needed in other words.). If it is Monday or a day after a holiday like next Tuesday they have extra mail to deliver. That means next Tuesday some people will not get mail. Last Monday over 200 homes did not get mail delivered even with the carriers working twelve hours.

When the carriers are doing extra routes they also leave the post office later than normal because they have to prepare two routes to be delivered instead of one, so this sets all the usual times people receive their mail back. Then on top of that a carrier who is unfamiliar with the extra routes they are doing will be slower than the regular staff. The staff at the Alaska District Office was decreased significantly so the local offices have less help to fall back on when they need an extra hand or technical advice.

I was impressed with Mr. Rivera, he was a surprise to me. He has a lot of knowledge about what is happening with the USPS, cares about the carriers and the quality of mail delivery for the public. I was expecting the usual Alaska incompetence to be the problem and anticipated leaving a voice mail only to be ignored. One reason for my expectations were negative post office experiences in Nome where my mail was opened by a post office employee and from the old Postmaster in Homer who thought my uterus made me too stupid to figure out how to use a key when they had given me the wrong key to my post box. Mr. Rivera answered the phone right away and cheerfully described the situation for me. He went to Capital Hill in March and has been lobbying our legislators to protect our mail service. I just hope they are listening to him. The USPS is especially important here in rural Alaska where we have to order so many of the things we need from other places. It is also very important for the elderly who may not use modern technology for communication to keep in touch with family and friends.

Venting anger at carriers does not help and whenever they have to stop and explain why they are late or mail was not delivered the day before that may mean a couple less deliveries they can make that day. They are working their butts off in a very trying situation. I tried to think of what I could do to help and this post was my best solution besides walking my mail to be sent to the post office everyday when I go for a walk.

Update: KTVA has a report on their website featuring Senator Murkowski‘s anger about the USPS. They have cut distribution centers and are even moving the handling of western mail to a Denver Colorado distribution center. These decisions will delay our mail and as we all know it takes way longer to get mail here than in the lower 48. Shipping mail from Alaska to be received in another part of the state all the way to Colorado, then back to Alaska is insane. This will cause not just delays, but way more damage to materials shipped.

The people of Alaska must get involved and start voicing their opinions about the special needs for frequent efficient mail service in Alaska. Please contact Senator Murkowski, Senator Begich and Representative Don Young.

Excusifying Incompetent Alaskan Agencies: OCS

I started this post several days ago when this story first broke and found the whole story so disturbing I got too upset to finish it. I am disgusted by the cruelty and willful ignorance of those who run the agencies of this state and the legislators who don't give them funds to operate at an acceptable level. This triggered my PTSD due to several incompetent excusify-ing agencies being involved in my multiple traumas. I am sick to death of all of them and the jackasses who have appointed each and every one.

I don't need to reiterate the abuse because unless someone has been living in a cave they know the story. Anya James had six adopted children plus foster children. OMFG! Is there any agency in this state that is not incompetent? The higher ups in this state knew there was a problem with OCS many have reported it including me. They just ignored us. Six kids adopted…I can’t even comprehend how screwed up an agency has to be. They should be doing home visits before each adoption and evaluate the condition of the children periodically. For foster care they need to make frequent unannounced home visits and interview the children when the foster parents are not present. Perhaps James started adopting, so she could refuse them entry for Foster Care home visits. This woman sounds like she would be a good candidate to be a corrections officer or work in a mental health unit in the prison system, same kind of torture.

I have never raised a child, I am a DES daughter (lies from drug companies, harmful drugs) and the only time I ever got pregnant was after being gang raped by eight men. Fortunately I never had that instinct that many women have that they will not be fulfilled if they don’t reproduce. I have taken care of some children as a nurse, mostly of the medically fragile, on ventilator type. My expertise is not in pediatrics and I would generally refuse to take care of children in hospitals as it is important to know in great detail how to care for a patient. In home health care is very established and you only have the one case, so it worked for anyone with any background. I did this part time for extra money or when I was too ill to sweat blood in the ICU.

Many foster parents want foster kids in their homes for the profit and they will lie like a corporation to cover up what really goes on. They also frequently make those in charge of overseeing the foster children such as social workers who are guardians, good friends for protection. Those involved should know better than to become personally involved with the foster parents so they can look at them objectively. It’s called having ethics, objectivity and professionalism.

In home health there are lots of foster child cases. I was shocked at the treatment of sick children by foster parents and in one case the birth parents. It was clear many of the parents just had the kids in their homes for profit. In one particular case the mother a hateful mean woman who clearly disdained the child, had no interaction with him, would not take him to doctor appointments, would not let them take him off the ventilator he did not need (she would get less money from the state) and was abusive to him. The first morning on the case I told her he needed to come off the ventilator and she gave me such a look. The nurse coming on told me the pulmonary doctor had been trying to get her to bring him to his office and she canceled the appointments. The doctor wanted him off the vent. He was on tube feeding due to the tracheotomy. Once removed he could eat, I am sure the thought of him eating dinner with them horrified her.

This five year old was kept in a hospital baby crib with the bars up and a bubble on top to keep him from escaping sixteen hours a day. He was on multiple psychiatric meds he did not need including Thorazine. He could not walk in a straight line due to the severe overmedication. Then they were all surprised he had behavior problems. Who the hell wouldn’t?

The foster mother kept a detailed log to manipulate the doctors and CPS staff. We read it and realized she was making stuff up. His social worker was her friend and they spent hours on the phone gossiping. She also sabotaged the visits with his birth mother and then lied to the social worker that the birth mother did not show up. The house had lots of toys all over the place, but she only let him play with two of them. When asked why she said he threw them against the wall. Yea he probably did when he was younger just like all toddlers do. The foster parents went away for the weekend once and we let him play in the room they normally would not let him in with any toys he wanted. He was a perfect angel, not one problem.

I was pretty freaked out the whole time I was there. The woman also had the nurses doing some really odd things due to her obsessive/compulsive issues. He had tube feedings and she made us take both ends off the can with a hand crank can opener that was rusty and hard to turn and then smash the can in a certain way. I brought a garbage bag with me and took them home and disposed of them. We could only eat our lunch at one end of the table with a particular place mat. The ventilator tubing and equipment in home health is washed and reused. Normally it is taken outside and spun to remove the water, then hung up to dry. She made us sit on a blanket on the floor and dry each and every piece of it with a hair dryer. It was really weird.

I asked one nurse who was from another country how she felt about the treatment of the child. She thought it was a cultural thing, I said, “Oh, Hell no”. While giving the day shift nurse report she asked me what I thought about what was going on there. I told her how I felt and she said she had been waiting for me to get there so she had someone to back up the truth. We contacted our employer who contacted Child Protective Services. I decided to resign from the case and take the blame for the complaint to CPS as the other nurse had been taking care of the child a long time and he needed someone he could trust and I really did not like home health or pediatrics so much, I was very bored.
The state investigated and this woman was very good at manipulating. They decided to leave him in the home because really the foster parents never had any contact with him and the nurses were taking good care of him. He would not receive such attention in the state facility which was the alternative. But, the problem is the foster mother was calling all the shots and manipulating everyone including his social worker and doctors. The sad thing was his birth mother who had problems when younger was desperate to get her son back and was doing everything she could to show them she had straightened her life out. They should have facilitated her getting him if at all possible, he was unloved and abused where he was. There was also another party who volunteered to be his foster parent and allow the birth mother to visit as much as she could with the idea of her getting custody again.
It is interesting that just like the James woman this child along with a handicapped adult were kept in a converted garage. The five year old and an adult woman were in the same room. The adult who was mostly paralyzed was not allowed to come through the house to get to the only room other than the converted garage she was allowed in. We had to take her by Hoyer lift to the new garage to put her in her wheel chair. Then she was brought into the room through an outside door. If she was incontinent of urine and it got on the carpet she was punished. All she ever got to do that she enjoyed was watch videos and she took them from her. Her movement consisted of kicking her legs some. The foster mother told me when I was horrified by her actions that I just did not understand how she was, “she holds the urine on purpose so she can pee on the carpet.” That is ridiculous. It was like she felt these two medically fragile human beings in her home were parasites. She thought this woman who was neurologically deteriorated was plotting all the time just to figure out a way to pee on her carpet. If you have foster children or a group home situation your house should be designed to be cleanable and durable. The foster parents got thousands of dollars every month from the state and pocketed most of it, they were the parasites. The purpose of the money the foster parents get is so those it was intended for can get the extra help and things they need to have a decent life.
This state tried to get me to have a home for medically fragile children because they knew I would fight for their care and rights. They even promised to buy me a wheel chair van. I was not ready to be that tied down, but was sure in the future I wanted to do this. Now with the felony charge I am sure I would not be considered.
The director of OCS, Christy Lawton, when interviewed acted like they had done everything right and oh well they just can’t catch all the problems. Yes, the agency had huge problems before she got there, but why front near perfection when it’s clear you have huge problems with lack of training and other issues. I almost expected her to start blaming the victims which is standard procedure for the government of Alaska. OCS had ample opportunity with multiple complaints and went to the house on more than one occasion yet did not investigate. They decided the kids who had lived there were lying. That is how it works in Alaska. They believed her lies and did nothing. Why? There is a strange cultural habit in Alaska of thinking people of a certain class always tell the truth while those of another class always lie. This extends to business owners and landlords as well, they take complete advantage. Then there is the habit of frequently appointing people who do not have the experience to do jobs that require experience, education and skill. They are selected to support other agendas. The legislature plays it’s part in preventing agencies from operating at even a mediocre level by under-funding all of them. Not enough staff and poor training results in crappy service every time.
Many people have reported problems about OCS and been ignored. Here is my story:
In the lodge in Homer where the two meth cooking guys were with the con man landlord, Robin Hume, who along with his brother, Steve Hume, lied to the state troopers and the idiot prosecutor in Nome who relayed it to the due process blocking judge in Nome to have me wrongfully arrested there was a four year old boy. Along with him living there the guys brought underage girls for drugs, alcohol and sex. Did the state troopers care, absolutely not. I thought two of them were high school age. There were times when the boy’s father had two girls in the room all night along with the four year old. I couldn’t see what they were doing, but I’ve been around over 50 years, ok. I made a number of calls to the state trooper to which I got no response which included vandalism, thefts, threats to myself, breaking into another roommate’s room, a missing person, stealing property, spraying several CO2 fire extinguishers in a roommates room, and a lot more. The first night I was there I made a general call to make the statement that whatever those jokers were up to it had nothing to do with me. I also reported fears for this four year old and the fact that I did not want to leave the lodge until something was done about his situation. The state trooper told me he would call OCS and I also called. Considering the actions of the state troopers out of Anchor Point I would not be surprised if that call never happened, but this particular officer was better than the others so it may have.
One night I called about several serious crimes including assault threats to myself to which the state troopers did not respond. They did however come for loud music as odd as that seems because anyone who lives in Homer itself knows the Homer Police do not respond to loud music. There were two or three underage girls on the property on some kind of intoxicants as well as the little boy‘s father. They would not let the trooper in so I did. Two girls ran out the back door and were not pursued, even though the trooper saw one of them and knew she was underage. Why? For one thing the troopers who take about twenty-five minutes to get to the hill above Homer from Anchor Point work alone. Second, they hadn’t done anything about any of the other crimes, why start now. The third woman locked herself in the bedroom with the four year old. She would not let the cop in and the father of the child refused access. The trooper called his supervisor to discuss probable cause. He said they did not have probable cause to go in the room. The trooper asked me if I had seen a meth lab because the father was high on meth, yet they had no probable cause to check the welfare of a child or underage girls. In many states they can check on children pretty much any time they feel there is a problem. Why can’t they in Alaska.
Five weeks later an OCS worker and a state trooper finally showed up to check on the child and by then they were gone and I was trying to get out of there myself. She told me she knew nothing about the long length of time that had passed as she had just been hired. After listening to the director of the department, Christy Lawton’s TV interviews recently I realize that may not have been true. I did not want to leave the lodge until the child was safe and quit looking for a place to go that month. If OCS or the state troopers had done their job I may not have been wrongfully arrested in Homer by the corrupt legal system powers that be. Oh, if they could have found anything else to use to arrest me they would have, but there was nothing until two conmen came onto the scene.
When I reported this story to the govenor's office nothing happened. I have never lived in a state where they would not come in a timely manner to check on children or where those who complain about child abuse are ignored until I came to Alaska. I have never lived in a state where the police could not do a safety check on a child in potential danger until I came to Alaska. I have never lived in a state where those who try to report the problems at the level of the governor's office are lied to and hung up on until I came to Alaska. Remember, how a society treats the helpless is reflection of what they are. Now will those children not get the help they need due to the poor mental health care? Will they end up in the prison system because they have been traumatized and perhaps become chemically dependent or just can't function in society? Then will they be blamed as causing their own problems?
The one funny thing about the story was her attorney, Rex Butler, repeating the crap she told him. He isn’t smart enough to keep his mouth shut. I believe in due process and vigorous defense for everyone, but really Mr. Butler have some common sense. He said her case is complex. That was the reason he used when I called him about my case to turn it down and then he hung up on me. What he really meant was I didn’t have any money. I guess James has a lot stashed away.

People in my generation and the generations before us were all taught that we are a country of immigrants and everyone is welcome and equal. Does the public have a fundamental right to know about releases of radiation?

Yes sir. Absolutely. It’s important that the members of the public that have the competence and capability to do this continue to do this. You have this problem inherent in the system, the lying bastards theory you were referring to and that is you have a lot of competent people that work in the government or in the national laboratories of the industry that can’t talk for one reason or another. Then you have people who have no idea what they are talking about and they talk all the time. And then you have people in academe that may have some capability in this area and they owe it to the public to explain things as best they can.

As best we can tell the Japanese have been entirely and completely forthcoming. Every measurement they have made has been made public right away and there is not evidence of anything but that. They have been candid about confusion they faced when they had different measurements of the same thing by different groups. They have been candid about their confusion in their interpretations in some of the difficult measurements they have made and analyses. So, they deserve commendation for their candor which was unusually complete as best anyone can tell on our side of the pacific and I think that is of course a wonderful mark of their culture.

This was the general impression I also had and I paid very close attention to the information for weeks. I do believe there were problems with not answering some of the questions the press was asking and NHK World News would always cut away when the discussions got heated. The engineers in Japan were giving so much information including lots of radiation readings that they were making people mad about it. I guess they were blinding them with science. Engineers for the most part aren't good at communicating with the public, that is why those who teach are the best choices for explaining the science to the public.

We didn’t have very much information at first not because they were hiding it but because they didn’t. I don’t have any evidence that there is anything they knew that they didn’t tell not only us, but others around the world.

About Tepco: The information they are getting at Berkeley mainly comes from the Japanese government. They are communicating with Tepco’s engineers, not Tepco’s management and pointed out that it was not the engineers who have been indicted for fraud in the past at Tepco. Anyone who knows anything about engineers knows most of them would find it very difficult to not be extremely truthful about facts and information.

This is well documented in Chernobyl that the disease burden of the anxiety, fear and the disruption was worse than the disease burden from the radiation because people….got scurvy because they wouldn’t eat fresh vegetables, they got depression…In public health…the whole area of stress hormones and how they impact the body is a very important area. They are actually as bad for your body as any environmental chemical we have ever seen. Under stress we flood our bodies with chemicals that are more dangerous than things that come in from the outside.

This is of course why the government in Japan was trying to keep people calm. They have had lots of disasters/trauma and have learned how to keep traumatized people from getting PTSD or how to keep the symptoms at a mild level. They have had mass information to the public about how to talk to the victims of the earthquake/ tsunami to help minimize their trauma and PTSD. The public is also taught how to help people heal and emphasize letting everyone tell their story without asking them direct questions which might cause more distress for them. This is something our country needs to learn from them. Our mental health system can’t even handle PTSD in the military or in those who have been workplace bullied. All one has to do is remember how the victims of Katrina were treated. We have many systems set up that cause PTSD such as our prison systems, the courts, workplaces and law enforcement. Then most of our mental health professionals as I have learned the hard way know nothing about PTSD, misdiagnose people who have it with some kind of personality disorder label (especially females) and in my case my PTSD was made worse by the crazy, nutty misdiagnoses which have ranged from telling me there is nothing wrong with me to paranoid with psychotic features, both were wrong, as well as most of the other crazy diagnoses. It is both entertaining and very sad, along with traumatic to have to put up with this level of incompetence and abuse when you are seeking help with trauma. They are the opposite of therapeutic here in Alaska with some exceptions in Anchorage. Our government in many ways causes stress diseases and then makes health care nearly impossible for those being affected, instead they are blamed for having PTSD which is another very harmful thing that makes the problem worse.

At the end of this video they offer good advice about getting to the truth. You have to read information from many sources to get to the truth. Figuring out the agenda of each individual or group is a good place to start.

Radiation Basics From Professor Richard Muller & More

The night I was wrongfully arrested I was listening to a physics lecture from Berkeley on line, Professor Richard Muller's Physics C10 aka Physics for Future Presidents. All of us dangerous criminals like to listen to science lectures on line. For years I couldn't listen to his lectures due to the PTSD being triggered. In these two videos from 2008 he explains radiation. This particular series is designed for non-science majors so they will have an understanding of science without having to learn the math. He relates the course to current events. In these two lectures Muller discusses what radiation is, the effects it has on the body, why some radiation is not a danger while other types are and how much radiation our bodies can tolerate.

Potassium 40 is found in Bananas, each one has about 0.1 microsieverts of radiation. Everything has radiation, we get 0.05 microsieverts of radiation from sleeping next to someone. It is the type, amount and length of exposure that determine the safety or danger of radiation. You can check the radiation from different sources from this Radiation Dose Chart.

I would like to clarify a couple of things Professor Muller said about food. The foods he talks about being bred to have more toxins is absolutely true, but it is really the GMO foods that contain high amounts of toxins, this is why we need them to be labeled. Nearly all of the crops bred in universities over the last few decades to withstand bacterial, viral or fungal infestations have toxic chemicals that fight them and so do plants that occur naturally. Naturally occurring plants have them at lower levels generally. Heritage seeds provide food that has toxins at a level our bodies are designed to deal with as well as providing the right nutrition for humans. We have evolved so our bodies can deal with a certain amount of toxins, but when the levels become high or a toxin our bodies have no mechanism to deal with are introduced we have a problem. In plants bred for defensive chemicals there is no need to spray with pesticides or fungicides and as it turned out some of the varieties resistant to diseases are more toxic than some sprayed on chemicals are. We have no way of controlling this source of toxins in our diet unless we research the background of each variety of plant we eat. Most of us don’t do that. The reason it is much worse with GMO foods is genes don’t work by themselves they are all a part of a group or system of genes, so changing one gene can affect many processes.

There are more chemicals used on foods than just pesticides. The herbicides must be taken into account. There is research done on Glyphosates (Round Up) that show it stimulates the growth of fungus and other pathogens because it decreases the ability of plants to defend themselves and immobilizes (chelates) the nutrients in the soil so the plants can't use them. Dr. Huber recently put out a warning that he had found an unknown pathogen by electron microscopy associated with glyphosate use that was infecting both plants and animals causing detrimental problems. They believe it may be causing health problems in humans. Naturally we have had no response from the FDA or USDA. Much research is underway. I am really pissed about this because as a Master Gardener I was taught Round Up (glyphosates) was harmless and just bound with the soil eventually breaking up into natural compounds. I gave this misinformation to the public myself, this is lying by proxy using the Cooperative Extension. Monsanto has lied about nearly everything they have made and the USDA along with the FDA get all of their information directly from the corporations and just repeats whatever they tell them. They also have people inserted into the government agencies who get their products past committees and prevent consequences due to the problems they cause.

Even if we buy organic vegetables that were selected for disease resistance and have a higher level of toxins than some vegetables just being organic means the areas where they are growing were not sprayed with glyph sates and they are not GMO. No glyphosates makes it more likely the plants will be able to take up nutrients from the soil. It is the nutrients in the plants that give our bodies the ability to protect us from toxins and the damaging effects of radiation. Our food supply is poor for many reasons which is effecting the health of the population in general. Even if people eat vegetables the nutrition is decreased by the farming practices of the large growers. Eat local and eat as much organic as you can afford.

Microwaves, while being fairly innocuous have been shown to possibly alter the nutritional content of food which is why I don’t use them. I might change my mind in the future with more information. Considering all the problems with our food supply I do whatever I can to increase the nutritional components of my diet.

Bullying is set to become a crime for the first time in Australia as concern grows at the rise of abuse that has destroyed lives and driven workers and teenagers to suicide.
Victorian Attorney-General Robert Clark is expected to introduce amendments to stalking laws in the state Parliament tomorrow, placing workplace and cyber bullying under the Crimes Act.
The new legislation will provide penalties of up to 10 years' jail.
It follows the 2006 suicide of 19-year-old cafe worker Brodie Panlock, who was subjected to "merciless" bullying by four colleagues at Melbourne's Cafe Vamp.

This is certainly a different attitude about workplace bullying than our legislators, court systems and mental health professionals have. Workplace bullying is a very serious act which should be considered a serious crime. It destroys lives, takes highly skilled, highly educated people from the workforce and wastes resources. It also has a negative effect on those who observe it in the workplace. So far in the United States there has been no success in the many states where legislation has been introduced. Of course not, corporations are in charge of everything, they will never allow these laws to be passed as long as they are in control. Now that the Koch brothers and others put in place multitudes of useless legislators who could care less about the workers of this country I expect the situation to get much worse.

That is why in places like Alaska where especially in the rural areas workplace bullying is epidemic the victim is the one who is charged with a crime. I was bullied until I had a nervous breakdown at a hospital where workplace bullying had been going on for years and many lives had already been destroyed long before I showed up. In their eyes my main crime was having the audacity to speak up against dangerous policies and practices along with concerns about corruption and incompetence. While the bullying was ongoing I tried to see a psychiatrist five times to sort out what was happening to me and he refused to see me. The bullying was done by mostly nurses and some doctors, just to give you an idea of the level of compassion at this hospital.

I then did something I don’t even remember associated with a suicide plan. Rather than being given psychiatric care and trying to fix the problems at the hospital which is what would have happened in most states, I was arrested and charged with several felonies. Several people told me not to worry because it would be insane for the prosecutor to indict me. I told them the serial bullies at the hospital were in control in that village and would make sure I was prosecuted to the full extend and in fact were lying to insure this. Workplace bullies are well known for lying, BTW. I was then prevented by a practicing alcoholic public defender, along with her supervisors, and the judge from going somewhere to get help for the PTSD. This was a bush town with very poor mental health practitioners. I was medically bullied when I tried to get help as the clinic associated with this same hospital. The medical bullying was so bad that when I broke my foot I set the bone myself. This all compounded the PTSD exponentially.

I was lied to by especially the public defender agency that I could not leave this village. I was harassed by the police, bullied in public places by the two primary workplace bullies, (especially one of them), I was not given court dates(in an attempt to have an excuse to incarcerate me), Sarah Palin appointed a woman to run the board of nursing who was not supportive of nurses (after the first supportive one insured me they would support me), all of the so called friends I had at the hospital essentially abandoned me, my mail was opened at the post office (only certain types of mail which indicated someone fishing for information and one of the postal employees was friends with at least one of the serial bullies), the local newspaper aka rag, wrote false articles about the incident (and is friends with the judge’s wife) fueled by workplace bully and DOL lies, and I received death threats by telephone.

Later I was wrongfully arrested and imprisoned by the combination of malice and incompetence of the public defender agency, local law enforcement, the department of law, and two judges. Some have suggested it may have been a well orchestrated plan due to the multiple factors of incompetence involved, but since the level of incompetence in Alaska is very high it is hard for me to judge this. While incarcerated my medication was dangerously, abruptly withdrawn. I was bullied and harassed by corrections officers ( as well as a doctor, mid-level, and multiple very frightening bullying and in one case obviously impaired nurses), my civil rights were violated, and my safety was certainly threatened. After having a second nervous breakdown I was placed in solitary confinement similar to Bradley Manning’s situation in a mental health unit that I can only describe as some kind of medieval torture chamber where I observed many horrors, including a woman being chained to the floor. She was clearly very mentally ill and they were not giving her the medication that she begged them for day and night, “Please give me my….my mind is going crazy”. They tried to put me in administrative segregation (solitary confinement) for filing grievances which were never responded to other than threats and anger. When this attempt failed they put me in a cell with a violent psychotic woman at the far side of the unit, I am convinced they were hoping she would hurt me. This would give anyone PTSD, but since I was already very ill with it, it made me extraordinarily ill.

I have lost the ability to work which I managed to continue to do for over two decades with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis in the past. I am on Social Security which is difficult to live on and have been homeless several times since all of this began. This also makes the PTSD worse and has made some other health problems much worse. I have a felony charge on my record as well as all the other multiple charges along with even the false and completely manufactured charge out of Homer for everyone to view on the Alaska states court records. If I had been in one of the more competent and enlightened states, first of all I could have complained about the problems at the hospital to agencies and actually gotten a response. They would have looked at the incident that occurred and realized the workplace bullying was severe and I would have not been charged with a crime. There would have certainly been experts, including some from the board of nursing that would have been on my side in most states, they would have assisted me to go back to work if at all possible. The hospital would have been forced to do something about the situation to prevent others from being harmed.

Remember we have had shootings secondary to workplace bullying in Alaska and the powers that be continue to totally blame the targets who had become suicidal. One of the manifestations of suicidal ideation is murder-suicide. Individuals may target their torturers when they become suicidal. We see this also in other types of bullying, as in domestic violence, school shootings by kids who were bullied or the radicalization of those who were tortured who then become terrorists.

What happens in the United States and which is worse in the more backwards states is the victim or target of the bullying is blamed because of the illogical blaming and meanness embedded in our culture. We certainly have recently seen this from the new crop of right wing assbackwards agenda legislators who seek to punish the unemployed, poor, disabled and elderly for our economic problems when they are not the ones in control nor are they the cause. Those who caused the recession and deficit are going completely unpunished, except for very rare cases and most of them have been wildly rewarded. It is very similar to blaming women who are raped. This attitude will be maintained and is only going to get worse because workplace bullying is a tool used by corporations who are a magnet for those who are selfish and have no conscience. Adding unemployment and the obvious creation of low paying jobs and the attacks on unions to the mix I doubt very seriously the United States will take any serious action against workplace bullying.

Facilitating Government Shutdown, Crazy Legislation, Contracting Relief and Lemmings

It would turn Medicare into vouchers whose benefits are funneled into the pockets of private insurers. And many of the plan's savings would go to wealthy Americans who'd pay even lower taxes than they do today.

Which is where the cynicism comes in -- and the shutdowns. Republicans may get blamed now. But if the shutdowns contribute to the belief among Americans that government doesn't work, Republicans win over the long term. I have been really thinking about what kind of a country these anti-American’s who falsely wrap themselves in the flag are actually trying to create. Sure, part of this movement is about Christian Theocracy, but I doubt those who are pulling the strings from the top actually believe in that crap, dominionists are just their puppets. The Koch’s and other overlords believe in the almighty dollar and the power it affords them, that‘s it. They have been rewriting history and issuing their own warped interpretations of the Constitution for decades.

What is their real objective? They are creating a large population of poor people while trying to take away the programs that help keep the working poor, elderly and poor surviving while the wealthiest pay next to no taxes. Normally during difficult economic times relief programs are expanded, not contracted. Relief is mainly in place to prevent civil unrest, not to help people. Why would they want to trigger civil unrest. Is it to create a shock doctrine situation so they can get legislation passed to take away even more of our civil rights? If they think people are docile enough to not cause trouble they will let them live on the streets. Relief programs are designed for controlling the poor and to funnel them into low paying jobs. That is why those who live in public housing have to sign several documents stating they will not go to school full time. If a poor person who can not find a job during this recession could somehow get help to go to college so he could get a secure job what a travesty that would be for the oligarchy when he could have been coerced to take a low paying job when the recession starts to lift. They prefer to keep him in public housing for several years rather than allow him to increase his chances to get a job much sooner.

A huge part of what is going with the oligarchic overlords right now is an attempt to control the population which is becoming slowly more aware, thanks to the internet, of the history of the control of our government by a small selfish segment of society. The spread of information is then amplified by experiences of large numbers of people who are enduring economic hardships. They are clearly desperate, fearing the elimination of Capitalism, or controls legislated against their greed, or fear of paying their fair share of taxes. That is why they spent so much money putting all of these sociopathic personalities into the governor’s offices of many states. Just look at Walker in Wisconsin. The rest are pretty much like him, he was just the one designated to start the ball rolling to implement the plan to eliminate unions. Between him and some other Republicans who have been governors in the recent past, like Sarah Palin, it is clear they have no ethics, could care less about their fellow humans, and their stated love for their country is a lie. How can they say they love a country they are hell bent on destroying? It is love of money and power that motives them, certainly not a new situation in the history of mankind. They come up with strategies for marketing plans to make changes over time disguised as another agenda, such as the radical religious right ideologies. These are basic public relations tactics which are working well on many people who don’t do their own research.

Their plans for reducing spending are like someone deciding to reduce their bills by using rather severe eliminations because their budget is out of wack and failing to prioritize or use logic. If this person stops paying for medical insurance and moves out of his home to live in a tent he will save a lot of money, but what kind of a quality of life will he have and how long will he live? In the case of those passing the legislation they will be filling their coffers while they force someone else to live in a tent, that guy living in the tent gets no say at all. We all know where that extra money that is saved by taking away from the poor and middle class will end up going, don’t we Mr. and Mr. Koch? Rather than look for the obvious reasons we have a big deficit, like the wars, or Wall Street greed or the decades of allowing very obvious widespread fraud of Medicare/Medicaid they want to shift the blame. They always want to blame those who not only have nothing to do with the problem, but were not the ones who made the bad decisions that caused them in the first place while generally these decisions have been made against the will of the majority of the people.

The far right wing of the Republican Party and the Tea Party are doing the bidding of their overlords. The goal is to convince the American people our government is dysfunctional and our deficit is high due to all those freeloaders (Those who are unemployed during this recession and the elderly/disabled) who get unemployment, Social Security and Medicare. In fact they are almost convincing the youth of this country that grandma who worked her whole life and paid into Social Security and Medicare is really just a leach.

It doesn’t matter that their arguments are not based in fact or logic because the uneducated and dumbed-down part of our society which is becoming larger all the time can’t think for themselves or identify fact from fiction. These lemmings just jump off a cliff into an ocean of doom, not even realizing they are harming themselves and their country. In fact they are taught that thinking about the welfare of others is a type of evil called socialism. Most of them don’t know what socialism is, they have just been programmed to react in a negative way to the word.

Then there is the Alaska legislature which is in part hampered by a radically right dominionist governor who wants to give away Alaska’s resources to oil companies. So far our state legislature has only passed two bills and both of them were a complete waste of time. The insane Anti-Sharia Bill which clearly could never be passed, but served to waste the time and resources of the legislature is an example of part of their strategy on the local level. Then we have a bill introduced by Rep. Bob Lynn that is one of the most irresponsible and batshit wingnut crazy wastes of time I have ever seen. Ignoring decades of research he wants underage kids in the military to be allowed to drink and smoke. What a great guy. Here is his twisted logic:

Adolescents rely more on the emotional center of the brain because the logic part is not fully developed yet. That is why they make decisions which are risky and think they are invincible. This makes it difficult for them to make decisions that lead to moderation of drinking. The brain does not develop the ability to override emotions by logic fully until about age 21. BTW, Rep. Lynn since you are apparently clueless. Getting shot at causes PTSD and alcohol is one of the worst things those with PTSD can ingest. PTSD also makes people more prone to addiction due to self medication which is one of the reasons soldiers in the middle east seek out drugs in whatever environment they are in. Alcohol stalls PTSD recovery by keeping the brain stuck in the bad memories. It is also well known that alcohol and drugs stop adolescents from going through developmental stages, an eighteen year old is not fully developed. Then on top of all of this there are a lot of kids who have alcohol problems and mental health problems who end up in the military to begin with. Making drinking legal in the military will change their demographics because kids who want to drink will join the military just so they can. Do we really want more suicides or murders in the military, or kids getting DUIs and possibly killing themselves or others driving drunk? Sometimes I wonder if they put some kind of stupid inducing drug in the water, or is it some kind of alcoholic dementia? What is with all these people in Alaska promoting alcohol and tobacco? Shouldn’t a representative be considered a role model? I have to wonder if Rep. Lynn owns a bar or stock in some alcohol company or is he one of the many in Alaska who has a lifestyle that includes lots of drinking so he thinks it is normal.

Fukushima Daiichi Power Plant to be Decommissioned

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said reactors are contaminated with impurities and salt, and that forced the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi power plant. Koriyama City Mayor Hara Masao Fukushima said the United States assistance helped them come to that conclusion. NHK World writes that Edano says the plant will be demolished. Most likely they will eventually bury the reactors along with their cooling pools in sand and cement. He added that the government can't make a definite statement until they go through proper procedures. The plan is to get the plant under control and then scrap it. Prime Minister Naoto Kan may visit the plant on Monday.

Mostly what we are going to see them doing is keeping the spent fuel and reactor cores cool to prevent radiation leaks. Getting to the point of decommissioning will most likely be a long process. Japan's recovery will be even more difficult without enough electricty.

The Japanese police are quietly beginning an investigation into TEPCO, the managing entity of the Fukushima Nuclear Reactor for charges of professional negligence resulting in death or injury. It is not “official” and still in the early stages.

The charges would be causing death or injury by negligence. If this happened in another country with nuclear reactors would the outcome have been any different? The Tepco executives said they never though this situation they were faced with was even possible so there was no planning for it and I suspect that would have been true in other countries including ours. It is much less likely to have both an earthquake and a tsunami in most nuclear plant locations in the world, but I can imagine other problems that could severely damage the plants. Are the designs the main problem? Most people think because it has been reported that G.E. built all of their reactors. They built three of them while Toshiba built two and Hitachi built one. Do they all have the same defects? There are many questions which need to be answered. I have felt nuclear power was dangerous since the 1970s, now it will finally have a serious examination. Back then we said we did not have the technology to make nuclear power safe and were brushed aside. I doubt however that nuclear power will be eliminated. They will probably make some kind of changes and claim nuclear power is safe and carry on. The powers that be get what they want because we have not stood up to them. That needs to change.

Mr. Jaczko’s most startling assertion [to congress] was that there was now little or no water in the pool storing spent nuclear fuel at the No. 4 reactor of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, leaving fuel rods stored there exposed and bleeding radiation into the atmosphere.

Au contraire:

Today the Japanese government said the current situation is very severe with the nuclear problems and earthquake. The leadership is trying their best to deal with all of the disasters and people outside of Japan are focusing on the nuclear power plant and not realizing how complex the situation is. They are doing their best to give both problems the same degree of attention. “Huge Info gap between Japan and USA, I understand” when 9/11 happened the Japanese people were told not to enter the U.S. at all. But Katz was in the US going to college then and knew the truth.

They have heard someone in the U.S. says the cooling pool of #4 reactor ran out of water and stated that when this was said they actually did not know what the water level was. They say the U.S. asked them to provide the information and there has been close cooperation with the U.S., but there is a time lag of information. (I suspect there are other issues as well, like someone just assuming without having data) They make it clear the US government is an ally and Obama says we are going to communicate with each other and they would like people to act calm. U.S. and Japanese experts have formed a task force. They would not like to criticize what the US experts and the Japanese experts are saying, but there is a gap between what the experts from both countries are saying.

Today the fuel rod cooling pool of #4 reactor was visually viewed by helicopter and the water was high enough that all of the rods were covered. They can’t confirm the water level. There is water in the #4 reactor with all rods covered, so priority was given to do #3 first. (So, the testimony to congress was speculation, they are too polite to criticize.)

They gather information together and formulate their plans as they get it. A good accurate assessment is needed and they are always updating. There are other methods they may be able to use to get water in the cooling pool, but they are choosing the method they feel will be the most effective. The most affective method may not be defined, they will have to use trial and error.

They have plans to secure electricity to power #2 reactor. (I have no idea why #2.) It is sub-power with a small power station which they will build. #4.#5,#6 reactors are inactive and even if their temperatures increase it will be slowly, so there is time to deal with them. They are concentrating on the most dangerous reactors first. Workers are trying to restore power to the nuclear power plant, but they do not know when.

There are continuing problems with people buying up all of the supplies. From the 1995 earthquake they say the people should be smart enough to act calm. At this point they have no plans for rationing. They have a port that is restored and working to restore all transportation. Without transportation new supplies can’t be distributed. The local areas should make sure materials are distributed equally. Prefectures are responsible for distribution of food.

Self defense and the Minister of Health and Labor are trying to send personnel to the designated areas. They need hospitals who can accept these workers. There are many suffering, especially the elderly, and much effort is being made to improve the situation of the elderly. They are considering those who are pregnant and monitoring the radiation levels. They must make sure the doctors and nurses are safe around the evacuation areas. Again with the act calm.

Tank cars are transporting fuel to the north. The fuel is very important to the north and Self Defense is providing their own fuel to them. The local gas stations need to cooperate. They would like to coordinate the overall management of the distribution. The cold in the north is very severe right now, so the other people should be patient about fuel shortages.

They have expressed a need to prioritize for those in the immediate areas of exposure or affected by the Tsunami. Please care about others and please act smart. They are thankful for those who are working hard to help those affected. They need fuel badly. Today is the limit for the work to be done on reactor #3 or radioactive material would start leaking. The water level was low in #3 reactor’s spent fuel pool. They dropped 7.5 tons of water four times (?) with CH47 helicopters. Professor Yamaguchi said, they measured the radiation levels before sending in the helicopters. They decided that even though radiation was high the work had to be done. There was no choice. There was not a significant difference in radiation after the water drop. When dropping the water a lot of it does not land in the pool as it can’t be aimed. The pool holds about 2000 tons of water and does not need to be full, the rods just need to be covered. It may be necessary to drop water continuously. Earlier the pressure levels were stabilized. The reactor shook from the water and some pipes broke. The workers (possibly in the control room) ran out of the building without using proper exiting procedures. The riot police are going to spray about thirty tons of water from five of the 11 pump trucks onto reactor #3. The people will operate from inside the trucks and not have to be outside with these five trucks, that is why those five were chosen. The final decison about when is yet to be made. They are trying to speed up the process of cooling, but police can’t get too close to protect them from radiation. They are wearing nuclear radiation protection gear. After the spraying they will evauate the results and figure out where to go from there.

Then in other news:

The US military and the self defense of Japan are working together to distribute food, transport, etc. A U.S. Navy ship is transporting Self Defense of Japan vehicles.

The U.S. is sending an unmanned plane to be used to take pictures of the plant to help with data.

No people have required total decontamination procedures. They have just had to wash their shoes (other than workers at the plant).

14 people have died after evacuation from a hospital and taken to an emergency shelter. They were elderly and two died on the bus. (It is very cold and they may not have had medication, water and food.) There are people freezing and starving. (Other countries and fossil fuel companies need to hurry up and get them fuel for heat and transportation.) Part of the problem is lack of transportation to get to areas and rescue people.

Many countries have told their citizens to evacuate from Japan and the U.S. is sending planes for government officials.

Prime Minister Kan and Japan's chief government spokesman Yukio Edano were yelling at the executives of Tepco today.

People were upset that a newspaper had a lead story about a rape conviction of a U.S. teacher who raped about 15 girls with a sentence of 18 years. They think this news should not be as important as the disasters.

The U.S. news continues to report the 50 heroes story, yet now with all the spraying going on there are probably more than 200 workers taking shifts.

People who can reach areas of the disaster including high school and university students are helping people clean up, especially for the elderly people.

They have discovered bird flu in chickens. All farms in that area were inspected for the virus. They are killing chickens at one farm and sterilize the vicinity.

Today 5,198 are confirmed dead with about 9,000 missing from Tsunami/earthquake. That is over 14,000 missing or dead.

Workers were sent from the British embassy and they were stopped due to not having the right papers by the British, not the Japanese.

The cold people in the north are being given rental gloves, etc. from ski resorts to help them keep warm.

They are putting in about 170 mobile charging stations for cell phones.

Fed Ex will not send to the U.S. because of the radiation scare.

Due to the power plants not producing power they have been having rolling scheduled blackouts. Now due to cold weather people are using more electricity and theyare warning of an overall blackout today. The government has asked the train company in Tokyo to limit service to help the situation.
A U.S. Navy ship is transporting Self Defense of Japan vehicles.

All evacuees are screened for radiation and so far no one has had to be decontaminated, but some have had to brush off clothing and wash their shoes.

Update:

The pumps in the reactors were damaged by sea water, so even with electricity they may require repairs to work.

Resignation of Chief Cabinet dude due to working too hard? He is moved to some advisory position for the Prime Minister. A new Chief Cabinet dude will be appointed today. Reporters wanted to know why they did this at this time. Apparently there was some scandal in the past involving the new appointment.

People of Japan are being asked to host the refugees. They should go to their city office and register.

Many people are working hard to rescue people and there are some who are trying to take advantage of the situation, so watch out for donation scams.

Radiation before and after the helicopter 3780 microsieverts and after it dropped by only 30 microsieverts. They tried with the policemen and the radiation was too high. Now Self Defense is now spraying with riot water canons.

The oil refinery in Miyagi has reopened.

The ATM system keeps getting stopped. This may be related to the electricity being turned off and on.

The water canon trucks sprayed water and it is too early to say what the result is.

The blackout they expected has been avoided due to companies using less electricity.

Nuclear Safety Counsel was sent to monitor radiation and requested International Atomic Energy to assist them.

#5 and #6 nuclear reactors have diesel generators being hooked up to run the cooling system for their spent fuel pools. They are waiting for supplies to put in a power line.

They say the water stream was effective at cooling the water pool, but no numbers are given.

From Katz on YokosoNews: he watches the Japanese news and interprets it for English speaking people. Here is information from multiple news conferences in the last couple of hours. He did social information before this disaster. They are trying to not say anything negative about the government at this time and be responsible during the emergency. Helping keep the population from panicing is a big goal because they can't do what they need to do to help themselves and others in a panic state. Some of the information being reported in the U.S. is wrong.

Anything in parentheses is my comment.

The officials/scientists in Japan on the news media said for a while they were not sure what was on fire while the U.S. news was reporting a specific reactor . They say they could not see due to the smoke and the radiation was too high to send people in due to high radiation. It could have been #3 or #4 or a cooling pool. (The cooling pool is a very likely source of smoke.)

The science people say many sensors are broken which makes figuring out what is on fire by remotely using instruments difficult. They say they can't cool down the fuel rods because they can‘t figure out what to even work on. Now they are saying the fire could be a third nuclear reactor, they just don't know.

One of them says the fuel rods may be exposed to the air, but they don’t know. The general picture from what they are saying is just a big cluster. They also sound very stressed. They exchanged the fuel in the storage pools 9 months ago, there are 514 of them under the cooling process. If the temp is greater than 1200 they may be hot enough to burn.

They are trying to organize more fire trucks to help feed water and any kind of pump to help with the water. (This is just desperate. OMG.)

Now another guy reports they took a picture from a mountain and it looks like #3 (northwest corner) is the one smoking.

(These reactors were built by idiots (GE) and have spent rods which cool above the reactors, so spent rods on fire could take the whole reactor down.) The Japanese government doubled the normal exposure of radiation allowed for nuclear reactor workers so they can stay longer. (There has been a report they may have received lethal doses in some cases.)

They have now announced plans to pour water from helicopters. They will pour it gradually to prevent some kind of problem that could occur from lots of water poured at once and investigating the safety factors of using a helicopter. They claim they are getting information faster.(Japan’s prime minister was pissed he did not get information quickly enough, that‘s why they said that.)

They discuss the food shortages and urge people not to go and just buy out the stores which will cause a shortage for others. They especially would like those outside the disaster area to stop buying up all the food. They discuss transportation problems and ask people to not buy up gasoline. They discuss power shortages due to the lack of nuclear power plants and the public must get used to a society with less power. People in Japan must conserve energy because it goes to the ravaged areas first. They have asked other countries for help with fuel.

The journalists complained about Tepco confusing them. They are trying to allow the information to only come from one source. They say they don’t want to make hasty decisions because of the safety of the workers.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Edano said the Prime Minister has not gone home yet, but he was told to rest so he could have the ability to make judgments. People all over Japan have been very concerned he would collapse due to his constant work since the earthquake, etc.

Japan Security Committee (They are the agency that over sees Tepco):

There has been a variable pattern of radiation today 900 to 2036 to 6046 to 2.3 to2.9 to 3091, all milisieverts (and much more) and #3 reactor water level is down (I thought they could not get this kind of information). (However, all kinds of numbers are thrown around, it is very confusing).

There was a rise in radiation earlier and they ordered the workers to leave the site. People do go there to collect data however. They say the radiation is down now and the earlier reading was wrong (It was just a math error by a non-scientist). For a while they did not know if the radiation was coming from #2 or #3 as #2 has damage to the suppression chamber. Now with the readings down Tepco is sending workers back to the site. They think the reading is 10 milisieverts unconfirmed. Now they are saying the smoke is coming from #3 reactor, but the radiation is coming from #2 due to damage. The pressure of #2 has increased, but they do not know why. They assume the supply chamber is damaged, but they have no confirmation. They want to hear confirmation from Tepco. There is an 8 meter hole in #4 reactor. (They are very scientific or as Katz says, “More geeker than us.” (They aren’t more geeker than me, lol.)

(They report information and then someone else will say it was not correct, but there are many people very concerned with making sure accurate information is given. This has a lot to do with the technical nature of the problem and difficulties in such a chaotic mess as Japan is in now. Remember they had another major earthquake which caused more damage in another area along with all the other problems. There is way to much for any government to manage, there is of course mass confusion. People are working very hard to help their people. The workers at the nuclear power plants are heroes who are risking their lives to try to limit the damage for everyone else. They are very focused on helping those who are outside in freezing conditions and hungry.) When they find dead bodies they put a red flag to mark them because they will be covered with snow and can’t take care of them yet.

The governor of Tokyo has essentially said the earthquake/tsunami was divine punishment, but the news media in Japan is not hyping it because there are too many more important things going on. Katz says, “We don’t care about him now, we are too busy saving lives.” (Wow, in the U.S. our news media would report the idiots before helping the victims.) All through all of the reports there were many earthquakes.

Katz says start saving money because they will recover and want people to come to their country.

They were talking about Anderson Cooper because he is in Japan. Katz had no idea who he was and said he would only talk with him if he was good :).

Update #1: They have called for the National Security Forces to get their helicopters ready to haul water. At the nuclear power plant there are 180 workers trying to clean up the radiated debris from the tsunami and explosions.
From Katz: “If people tell me we are screwed, what’s the level of the screwed?” The reason he says this is he enjoyed the luxury of the electricity and did not complain about the nuclear power plants.

Update #2: Self Defense of Japan around 4 PM deployed helicopters to go pour water into the reactor. This morning in Japan, their Wednesday, smoke from #3 reactor is coming from the suppression pool of the spent fuel due to increased temperature and vaporizing water. Then later they detected higher radiation, then it went back down. #2 is leaking radiation. #3 is running out of water for cooling. #4 has rising temperature, it has spent fuel rods which were cooling. #5 and #6 were off line from before the earthquake. They evacuated 70 workers from the site during the high radiation. Now the 180 workers (180 heroes) are continuing to remove the debris from the blasts, etc. They are all being monitored for radiation closely. Some towns started to detect higher radiation due to the loss of radiation from the plant earlier at levels of no concern. The government keeps repeating the airplane and background radiation spiel. The two missing workers that have been reported as being killed in an explosion were actually swept away by the tsunami. There is no radiation threat in Tokyo. There were injuries with an old hydrogen blast and the people were sent to the hospital. Radiation was worse today than yesterday.

#1,#2, #3 are being ventilated to extract the gases and drop pressure so they can use more water to cool the reactors, fire trucks are standing by. There are over 7000 people missing with over 11,000 missing or dead at this point.

Emperor Akihito held a rare press conference (He is basically a figure head). He expresses regret to the victims, says the power plants are in critical condition and he hopes the workers will resolve the situation as soon as possible. He discussed all the people suffering from lack of food and energy while hoping to rebuild soon. The emperor is impressed by all the people in Japan who are working to help and all the international rescue teams who came to Japan to help under dangerous conditions. He hopes the people stay calm and help each other. He hopes they can overcome the circumstances and he knows the victims will have a hard time. He calls on everyone to offer support and asks the victims not to give up. He asks everyone to help the people in the disaster area a long time.

Katz explains that when engineers are giving press conferences it may not go very well because they are not good at such things. (They are talking over the heads of most people at times as well and keep the journalists confused. If scientists went on the news in this country and started giving out so many facts it could cause seizures)

Legislators Have Once Again Raised The Private Prison Option After Alaskans Have Rejected It Already

Here we have more evidence that appointees of Sarah Palin are influenced by those who stand to profit off the appointee’s decisions. It is also more evidence they were not chosen for their expertise nor is their goal to make wise decisions for society as whole. Decisions are made for the powerful elite who are in the background pulling strings. This problem of overincarceration for profit is happening in many states, but Alaskans don’t seem to care about the people harmed by over incarceration, just the money it costs them.

The new mega-prison rising up in a remote area of the Mat-Su is drawing heat from state lawmakers. One influential Republican senator is exploring whether the state would be better off if it never opened. A Democrat says the prison project may be little more than an effort for the borough to realize its dream of an economic boom.

There are communities in Arizona and Colorado which were built around the prison industry. The grocery stores, restaurants, uniform shops, hotels for family or friends of those who have to spend a lot of time and money to come visit their loved one who is incarcerated in the middle of nowhere. They also have little phone contact due to contracts for prisoner phones given to private companies charging an arm and a leg for phone calls. The Hudson prison in Colorado where Alaska houses it’s inmates charges the prisoner/families $10 to have a video conference with family. A nice way to make a profit due to Alaska’s inability to have insight or compassion. The people of Alaska rejected the private prison industry, but our prisoners were sent to one anyway.

Some communities where there is economic devastation have figured out a way to have a booming economy, cash in on the over-incarceration by building their own piece of the American Gulag System for profit whether public or private. They pay no heed to the morality of harsh and unjust laws or the destruction of human beings and their families. They leave the harmful effects for the rest of society to deal with. The people always end up footing the bill in a big way. Prisons cause physical health problems, mental health problems and those incarcerated have their ability to live in society removed in many ways. One piece of evidence for their lack of humanity lies in the large number of supermax prisons and supermax units inside prisons, they are harsh solitary confinement units where people are tortured until they are mad and can no longer function in society. That includes children, BTW. They don’t mind using those non-violent drug offenders, the chemically dependent and the mentally ill as human cattle for profit. Demonizing of the mentally ill or chemically dependent for convictions is the specialty of prosecutors.

At more than 1,500 beds, the Goose Creek Correctional Center will be Alaska's biggest prison by far. If and when it opens, the state expects to bring home some 1,000 inmates now housed in a Colorado private prison and relieve crowding in regional prisons around the state. Goose Creek is about 80 percent complete and expected to ramp up gradually starting in March 2012.
"A city within a city," says Corrections Commissioner Joe Schmidt.

Just the sentiment we would expect from the Palin appointed Commissioner. Build it and they will come. They can fill it immediately with the 1,000 in Colorado, but they will have to find a way to get 500 more prisoners to fill the other beds. Better notify the DOL and judges. What a surprise this is in the Wasilla area, just tack this bill onto the Wasilla indoor sports complex disaster. With the drug problem in Wasilla they can get that prison over capacity quickly. Round and round we go, where it stops everyone knows, death, mental illness, homelessness and re-incarceration. There will be no money for chemical dependency treatment, job training, education, assistance after release, but they will frequently call those inmates to come to Bible studies.

The giant prison was the centerpiece of 2004 legislation authored by the Valley's most powerful legislator at the time, then-Sen. Lyda Green, a Republican from Wasilla who co-chaired the Senate Finance Committee. Senate Bill 65 included provisions to build or expand prisons around the state, which cemented the support of other legislators.
The legislation didn't specify where the Mat-Su prison would be built. Borough officials took the lead on that, but Schmidt was part of the committee that approved the site.
Nearly seven years later, the vision of the prison construction law hasn't been realized. Legislators are demanding answers on a number of fronts:

Yes, “Nearly seven years later”, after not thoroughly researching the project, not securing oversight, knowing all along about the huge costs of the project, and knowing about the dicey-ness of the people involved they are now very concerned. Alaska’s legislators are reacting because they realize the people in their area got screwed, not because the expansion of prisons makes no sense or will harm thousands of people and their families. They are only motivated by money, not common sense or humanity. But really, why would they just give the DOC and the Mat-su Valley control over all this money and not expect a problem?

• Costs. The state expects to spend about $50 million a year to run Goose Creek, plus another $17.8 million in annual lease payments to the Mat-Su Borough for building it. That compares with about $20 million a year to hold inmates in Colorado.
Sen. Bert Stedman, R-Sitka, the co-chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, is looking into what it would cost to mothball the new prison.

This is like closing the door after the cows get out. Alaska had the opportunity to see the mistakes other states made in their poor decisions about their own corrections departments, yet decided to copy those mistakes for profits for a few at the expense of the people of the state. Of course stopping the project would be the prudent thing to do, but those in power will never allow that. Eventually the prison system will bankrupt the state and that is when changes will be made. The lives of many will lay in the wake of this decision.

"If we were to shut down Goose Creek, not open it up, we just pay the expense, heat it?" Stedman asked at a recent Finance Committee oversight hearing.
That cost would be about $22.5 million, said Leslie Houston, director of administrative services for the state Department of Corrections. That includes the lease payments, utility and maintenance costs, and the cost of hiring private security to guard the empty prison, she said.

• Location. The prison is being built south of the Goose Bay State Game Refuge just off Point MacKenzie Road. It's an area of empty land more than 20 miles from Wasilla. The site was picked even though it lacked water, sewer or natural gas lines. It's also far from major roads, hospitals, and courthouses in Palmer and Anchorage.

That generates overtime for corrections officers and/or more corrections jobs. They have to have staff transport people, they have to buy vehicles and fuel. They never think of the children or other family who will not be able to visit their loved ones very often who are incarcerated far away from town. The welfare of those who are incarcerated and their families don’t enter into their plans.

SAVINGS DEBATABLE

There's disagreement over whether building there on land donated by the borough ended up costing or saving the state money.
"It's clear that we're being held up for greater costs than we anticipated because of the remote location of the facility as decided by the Mat-Su folks," said state Sen. Johnny Ellis, an Anchorage Democrat.
One big cost item that caught senators off guard was $22.5 million to create a water and waste water utility with a single customer: the prison. Other customers could tie in later. The state is putting in $1.7 million directly, but will mainly pay for the new system through higher monthly bills, senators were told.
"When I voted for the bill I didn't know we were going to be ripped off on the utilities," Ellis said. "I didn't know they were going to locate it out in the middle of nowhere, for whatever purposes."

It was known well before this utility system was installed that it would cost millions and was insane. Why did they not do anything before the project was even started? Note the utility system was designed so others could tie into it for the businesses which would grow around the prison. Who owns the land around the Goose Creek Prison site?

He suggested that Mat-Su officials settled on that site in the hope of boosting development of a sparsely populated area.
"It's part of the boomer dream of the Mat-Su valley," the senator said. "And the rest of us get to pay for it."
Not so, say Mat-Su and state corrections officials.

Well, if the corrections officials say something it must be true she said snarkily.

Elizabeth Gray, acting borough manager, said a site considered in Palmer would have required expensive upgrades to utilities and may have cost more in the long run than the Goose Creek location.
"That site was chosen after a long, arduous public process," she said.
But others, including former Corrections Commissioner Marc Antrim, say the Palmer site, in an old gravel pit southwest of town, had much better road access. While utility upgrades were needed, they would not have been that expensive, he said.
"We had final rights on the project," said Antrim, who was replaced in 2006 by Schmidt, an appointee of then-Gov. Sarah Palin. "If it was Goose Creek or nothing, I would have rather started all over again than ended up out there."
• Crowding. Currently, Alaska's prison system is operating at capacity, with about 3,800 inmates in state facilities, corrections officials say. But while some prisons and jails have empty beds, others are overcrowded.

Then there are also about 1,000 in Colorado.

OTHERS FEEL LEFT OUT

Among the crowded facilities is the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel, which has had to send dozens of inmates to Nome and still holds more than it is designed for.
That is a sore point for Sen. Lyman Hoffman, D-Bethel, the other co-chair of the Senate Finance Committee.
Senate Bill 65, which he co-sponsored, was supposed to expand prisons in Seward, Fairbanks and Bethel. But that didn't happen.
"There has been work done. There have been plans," Hoffman said at the oversight hearing last week. "Why hasn't this been brought forth further?"
Schmidt said the department's focus has been on Goose Creek and that the law provided for local communities to finance and build prisons, with the state then leasing the space. In Bethel, for instance, the city council went back and forth but ultimately decided not to take on the project, Schmidt said.
Hoffman wasn't satisfied. Why couldn't the state work on Goose Creek and other prisons at the same time?
"Is that beyond the capabilities of the department?" he thundered.
Because so much money went to Goose Creek, "other parts of the state have been completely neglected," said Sen. Lesil McGuire, R-Anchorage.
Officials with the state and the Mat-Su Borough say they are trying to answer the senators' concerns and questions.
Schmidt said he understands why legislators are frustrated with the stalled efforts in Seward, Fairbanks and Bethel.
"Those three projects did not work out, but not for lack of trying," he said.
Meanwhile, Goose Creek remains under scrutiny.
Senate Bill 65 capped its construction costs at $135,000 per prison bed. With a project budget of $240 million and 1,536 beds, that works out to more than $156,000 for each.

"So basically you broke the law," Hoffman accused the department at last week's hearing. Houston, the administrative director for corrections, said she wouldn't put it that way. The law allows inflation to be factored in and the department's internal auditor is still calculating that, she said.

You can bet they are busy getting the Department of Law to manipulate the laws for them, but they "wouldn't put it that way."

And Mat-Su officials stress that the project is coming in under budget at about $225 million. That doesn't count furnishings, or the new water and waste water treatment system.

Stretching the truth.

The state cut costs by downsizing the prison from a proposed 2,200 beds and changing it from maximum to medium security, the classification that most inmates fall under, Schmidt said.

Non-violent drug offenders don’t need maximum security or generally incarceration.

Antrim, the former commissioner, questioned why the state switched course. A maximum security mega-prison would have given the state more flexibility, especially if the prison population continues to grow. The decision to downsize and redesign the facility cost the state two years, he said. The delay meant a much higher interest rate, state officials acknowledge.
Sen. Stedman said he is going to consult with Gov. Sean Parnell and other legislators about whether Goose Creek should open at all.
"As far as the viability of mothballing it, I would not discount that," Stedman said.

They will never mothball it. There are too many people who have been put in place for protection and too many who can potentially benefit from the business opportunities it will generate. I wonder how many solitary confinement or as they like to call them here in Alaska, administrative segregation beds there are. A psychiatrist, some nurses, some social workers and a psychologist at Hiland Mountain tried to have me put in administrative segregation because, "You are a trouble maker." Translated into reality that means I wrote greivances about violations of civil rights and denial of health care. How is that shutting up the "trouble maker" thing workin' out for ya now?

I would like to know what caused Wesley Shandy’s death at GEO’s (Cornell/Wackenhut) Hudson Correctional Facility in Colorado. Deciding to leave the prisoners in GEO’s private prison in Hudson County Colorado is not an option. Many of the former companies involved in the corruption to get the private prison industry into Alaska have now been acquired and renamed. They lie about services, deny medical care, and have very poorly trained underpaid staff working at their prisons.

They refuse to give inmates medical care in a large number of cases and certainly withhold medication for the majority. They even make inmates pay for visits with health care providers. They have almost no chemical dependency treatment, unhealthy food, little job training, little education, little counseling, poor or nonexistent mental health treatment, some of the maintenance of DOC buildings goes undone, and where is the help transitioning when inmates are released into homelessness. There is however plenty of cash for a money pit prison in Wasilla so some Schweinhunds can make money off the people of Alaska and the souls who will be housed there. The more beds there are the more people they will find to lock up. Did the legislators not have a clue when all the harsh laws were passed what they were up to? Does anyone check to see if the inmates are getting medical care, healthy food, rehabilitation services, etc.? It is clear you can’t believe anything that comes out of the DOC. When asked questions they just play games.

Today the ADN remade the article from yesterday and revealed what the real goal of some legislators and most likely the DOC is, an attempt to private-ize Goose Creek Prison. Surprise, surprise. After all the corruption around private prison corporations (and one of the main players recently arrested for pedophilia) they are trying to use shock doctrine scenario to force the public to accept it. The people of Alaska already rejected private prisons once and had a huge mess to clean up after the corrupt private prison corporations were run off, including lots of trials. Start checking for large gifts, vacations and large sums of money. Have any GEO Corporation executives been in Alaska recently?

"I believe the Mat-Su Borough and the State should sit down together and explore the possibility of a private corrections company leasing and operating the Goose Creek Correctional facility," Keller said in a written statement issued to news media.

The only place they figured they could rectally insert a private prison into the collective backsides of the public without even using lubricant would be Wasilla. They are used to it after Sarah Palin left them with a huge bill to pay off. The arguments continue to only be about money and the DOC talks about how honest their numbers are. This should be very alarming to everyone.

My Experiences With The Alaska Department Of Probation: Part Four

Having reported to the Department of Probation with PTSD from all the trauma I have discussed in the past I had hoped the insanity and abuse would stop. Now for years I have continued to be bullied by the DOC’s DOP personnel over and over and over. That is the perfect set up for causing permanent damage to my brain and it has. What happens in PTSD are changes which help the person survive extraordinary stress and trauma. Hypervigilence, one of the symptoms, helps the victim of the trauma identify threats. It is not a mental illness, it is a psychological injury which in my case was inflicted on purpose over several years. It is also a perfect set up to destroy people and cause them to be unable to function in society and end up in prison over and over and over. One of the ways this happens is people with PTSD have a very high risk for chemical dependency. In my case I understand all of this and even know what I need which helps me prevent some of the secondary problems, but I can’t stop the continued abuses from the DOC/DOP. These continued abuses from the start of the workplace bullying, then the corrupt justice system, then the prison system torture, then the allowing of my property to be stolen/cat starved and tortured, then the wrongful imprisonment and then all that has happened with the DOP is beyond unbelievable. There will be permanent psychological scars I will carry the rest of my life. If they had stopped it at several points, made amends and apologized I may have been able to recover and gone back to work even with my other health problems. Now this will never happen. Their tactics essentially turn people into livestock for profit. This system is very harmful to everyone, but exceptionally harmful for those with mental health issues and developmental disabilities.

I don’t remember if I called Special Assistant for Communications, Richard Schmitz again or he called me back. First I asked about policies of the DOC and wanted to know what the criteria was for being on three month minimal appointments. I did not get that or any questions answered. Mr. Schmitz is the public information person with a fancy name, aka bullshit artist for the DOC. Instead of answering questions he lied, made snarky remarks and pretended like he did not know things.

Mr. Schmitz told me Rebecca Brunger sent him an email asking him to talk to me. From her gasping on the phone when I told her that I assumed it was either not true or she was shocked he was dumb enough to tell me that. However, I think the most probable scenario is that the secretary at the alternate P.O. Chief’s office I called contacted him. She told me he was the one I should talk to because he was taking the place of the DOP director while she was gone and was an expert on policies because he wrote them. I don’t think that is true, the part about being an expert on policies that is. Schmitz said he was not filling in for Donna White. One thing to know about government agencies in Alaska is no one ever knows what they are doing, but they think they do.

He said multiple items I discussed about what had gone on in the past with DOC were not facts because it had not been adjudicated. Which is a cowards way of calling me a liar. Remember they do rely heavily on the Department of Law to manipulate laws and facts to protect them. When I discussed my personal experiences with abuse at the DOC/DOP he asked me if I had gone to the police and filed a police report about the abuse I complained about it. Yea, he really did. He seems to believe that unless a police report is filed about something it does not exist. Remember how the state troopers would not let me file police reports and they told me they decided whether a police report should be filed or not? Of course filing a police report about this particular issue is not the right action and he knows that. He’s playing games which is the response I have gotten every time I have contacted people in administration at the DOC. I have had them call me a liar and hang up on me in the past which seems to be a frequent response here in Alaska to citizen complaints of civil rights violations.

Now remember this man who says these ridiculous things is the one who makes press releases and provides information to the public about the DOC. He would make these insane statements and then say things like, “But, I’m not a lawyer,” No, but he is a lie-yer and gets paid well for it. He also told me that he has never said if my claims about the DOC are true or not and that he thinks my blog, “is great“. Yea, I believe him, don’t you? I kept feeling like I was soon going to be knee deep in fecal material. He thinks he is clever as well and at one point stated he did not know what was in the eighth amendment and wanted me to tell him. I was stunned by that strange question, but realized it was an attempt to try to make me either appear or feel stupid. Nothing this man could say would change how I feel about myself. I had not slept for two days at this point, could barely think and was quite weary of his circular talking games.

What a waste of time and tax payers money to have a conversation with this man. This conversation was the point at which I knew I had to write this series of posts about my experience with the DOP.

I spoke with Rebecca Brunger the Chief P.O. for my district after this and she said they reviewed my file and I would be getting a call from my P.O. to tell me that they would be keeping my status of minimal supervision the same. I got a voice message from him because after not sleeping for two days I slept all day. I informed Ms. Brunger I was going to write about what has gone on since I had been put through two days of hell and this is just the last straw for me anyway. I also told her I believe my probation officer is actually a nice person who wants to see everyone do well, but the system he works in is the main problem. They are essentially trained to be bullies and as we know bullying people is not helpful in any way, it only causes harm. I also told her that I am a good person and did not deserve this.

While it is true that both Donna White and Rebecca Brunger have done what they could to stop the abuses when I complained to them they continue. Why did I have to go through this? What the hell will happen next? I most likely will end up homeless and back in Anchorage, what the hell will the Probation Office there do to me this time? I may have nutritional supplements with me. Will they ask me several times if they are prescription strength nutritional supplements and then when I tell them there is no such thing threaten to throw me in prison? I also drink Greens-plus which is nutritional powder mixed with water. Will they think the powder is some kind of drug I have been snorting and harass me about it? Considering past experiences this is what I would expect them to do. Homeless people have to carry the things they need around with them in a backpack, so they will go through everything. There are no changes at the Probation Department, they still threaten people and think it is their job to find a way to send people back to prison. Nothing will change until we have the courage to tell our stories.

My Experiences With The Alaska Department Of Probation: Part Three

The month before my last appointment with my parole officer I sent in a report. I mentioned that I would most likely be evicted and homeless soon. It is not because I have done anything wrong. I have lived here a year and about seven months and have been told more than once I am a good tenant and in fact the former owner of the property is trying to help me. I can’t discuss the circumstances yet, but when events start to occur I certainly will. Hypocrisy and incompetence are involved. So, unless they just ignore those reports I am forced to send in they knew this when I came in for my recent appointment and would have known I was upset already. Did they decide to pour salt into the wounds? In the future I am not telling them anything unless it is clearly required. My ass could fall off and I would not say anything.

I went to the meeting by taxi as always. When they ask me where I am going I tell them the Trading Bay Center in Kenai. They then ask what part. I tell them, “The adult probation department, I am the most dangerous criminal in Alaska.” Then they always laugh or say , “No you aren’t, I am.”

At the P.O. office I fill out the ridiculously redundant monthly report in the waiting area and then usually start reading a book. Having people fill out a report who have just come in to have a meeting with their P.O. serves what purpose? I get wanded in the hall for metal detection on the way in and sometimes they want to see what is in my backpack, etc. On very rare occasions I have peed in a cup. I had no problem with that for a very long time, now I am afraid they will manipulate a positive toxicology screen somehow. I have told them I would demand an immediate blood test at a lab if it comes up positive. The thing is they clearly know I am not a user of drugs for a lot of reasons and apparently someone isn’t happy they can’t find anything to charge me with and would like to find something, anything to cause me trouble. They know exactly what they are doing. Is it any wonder I rarely leave my apartment.

My meetings are pretty much a waste of time. We discuss books, movies, new nutritional research I have read or I might talk about politics, etc. Sometimes there is an issue, like the time he told me Judge Esch called and left a message because they needed to send me my bail money and wanted my address. I asked him if he did not think it was odd the judge called rather than staff. He said yes he did. I explained that the most likely scenario was Judge Esch was fishing for information.

This last meeting I was told my file had been audited. My P.O. said his files had been audited. Who knows what the truth really is. He wanted to check some things to make sure I was in “compliance“. Why after all this time? I have been on probation for two years and five months with seven months to go. He then told me they needed my mental health records or they would be putting me back on monthly visits instead of visits every three months. He said he had to do what his supervisor told him to do, that would be Ruben Foster. I was thinking about what the hell they were up to and trying to figure out what specifically it was they wanted to do with the records. He knows full well the hell I have gone through in this state trying to get counseling and I certainly have not kept it a secret, perhaps he should read my blog. It is not possible to get professional counseling on the Kenai Peninsula and I just end up with lots of bills. I found someone in Anchorage, but I had to go to Soldotna for housing. The last psychologist here in Soldotna was nice, but the appointments were pretty useless and he got up to three phone calls during our appointments and once had a very long conversation with someone while I was sitting there thinking, WTF! So, when there was a HIPPA issue with another staff affiliated with that clinic I no longer felt comfortable seeing him as she made snarky remarks about information in my medical history.

We discussed the fact that I look a lot different than I used to because I am healthier and have lost weight. He said they should take a new picture of me and they would need to do a home visit. Last time they did one it was because I complained to the chief P.O. I thought, Holy Shit! Is this all they could come up with for harassment and just where is this coming from?

I tried not to be upset and even told him I would send a copy of one of the H & Ps from Providence Hospital. I had a bad feeling when I arrived that day and a fever from a virus. I had also not slept due to being upset about having the appointment that day. I am never in very good shape when I go in there due to the stress and lack of sleep. So, I waited until I got home to think about what all of this meant. When I got home and read the narrative in the H & P from Providence I realized I did not want them to have my medical records. My whole story is so long and so strange that the doctors can never get the story straight in the narrative, none of them. Whenever I get something from a doctor I correct all of the errors and replace the false information. If the DOC has my medical records that would mean the Department of Law has them too. The DOL could take one of the reports of focus on something in the narrative that is not even true and perhaps use it against me. That is how they operate. I don’t want either of these agencies to have my personal information. Not in this state, no way. Oh, they will find out about it in the future in another venue.

I tried to call Donna White, the director of DOP and was told she was out until the end of the month. I called the chief P.O. supervisor for my area Rebecca Brunger and was told she was traveling at least twice and that no one was covering for Donna White. Then I called another chief P.O.’s office who was also reported to be traveling and some secretary told me Edward Schmidtz at the DOC was covering for Donna White after she asked me what my call was about. I told her mostly DOP policies which was true.

Then I decided to call the supervisor Ruben Foster at the Kenai Probation office. I generally tried to just avoid him after the dental appointment incident as it was clear he was just a mean jerk and also my P.O. had told me he had to audit my file because his supervisor told him to. I certainly did not want to talk with the higher ups at DOC and they generally did not return phone calls anyway. I explained why I did not want the DOC or DOL to have my medical records. Since they know nothing about mental health and it seems their purpose is to cause more psychological trauma what they hell would they do with them that was legitimate anyway? They certainly would not be able to understand in any kind of meaningful way what the doctors explained in the H & P. It’s none of their damn business anymore, they have proven to me they are not trustworthy or even humane. I was not allowed to use it for defense and now they want the information. Their purpose seems to be to inflict pain. He told me the court ordered me to supply the reocrds. I explained the court ordered a chemical dependency evaluation, but not a mental health evaluation. The chemical dependency evaluation said I did not need that kind of treatment, I needed counseling for PTSD. I have a court ordered condition for that report and it has been provided. He told me the “deal” was that I was to give them the records or they could go to court and get my conditions amended. Really, after two years and five months of a three year probation? I described to him that both sides in Nome worked to keep me from using my mental health status in court and I doubted the court would order my mental health records be exposed. While I said that I was thinking now it would be even harder to get that condition because they would be trying to protect their asses. After I explained why I did not want them to have my mental health records he said, “I’m all about kindness and”, I think he said compassion here but don‘t remember, as soon as he made this snarky comment I was shocked at his gall. I then said, “Oh, is that why you would not let me go to my dental appointment that day?” Ruben Foster then stated angrily, “Now you’ve stepped over the line.” Oh really, was that a threat, again? So, it seems the main problem in this office is Ruben Foster, he is a bully. That makes him DOC material.

I asked him why after 2.5 years with 7 months of probation to go they were auditing my file, asking for mental health records and threatening to change me from minimal supervision to monthly. He said he did not know I only had seven months to go. They have a friggin file on me and apparently having just audited it had no idea how long I had been on probation nor how much time I had left. He also asked. “Is there a problem with you coming to see us?” I told him it was traumatic, triggered my PTSD for at least a week before the appointments, the stress caused my CFS/ME to flare up, I never knew what kind of abuse to expect, it is expensive and a waste of time. I left out one part, that I really did not like to associate with mean illogical, abusive people. After this conversation I realized it was very clear their intentions had been to harm me on purpose.

So after all this time having found no reason to charge me with violation of probation are they getting desperate? I have done nothing wrong which is my general state of behavior. Perhaps someone does not like what I have been writing about. Is this retaliatory? Is this about the FOIAs I have been sending out to agencies. Perhaps the one about a prisoner found down in a private prison in Colorado who later died was upsetting for someone. (BTW, they gave me nothing) Why no audits before in 2.5 years and 5 months?

Almost a year ago I went on my monthly visit to see my P.O. in Kenai. Since it was expensive for me to go from Soldotna to Kenai and back and I had to have a huge amount of dental work done I decided to try to schedule both the dental appointments and probation officer visit on the same day.

Here is an email I sent to a friend about that experience in April of 2010:

No, I am on probation and can't leave until 9/21/2011 and I have legal stuff that may not be over by then. I have launched complaints about what has been going on with my probation officer. He has been threatening me, "Do you know what we could do to you?" Saying that to a person who has been wrongfully arrested and imprisoned has a clearly known affect. I really did not think he would do such a thing, but I now do not trust him at all. My PTSD has flared up and I can't sleep at night again. It causes the CFIDS/ME to flare up. I cry everyday. I am just fine when I can stay away from these bastards that work for the Department of Corrections. Then a month before my last visit I told him I had a dental appointment on a particular day and I would like his appointment the same day if possible so I did not have to pay for two taxi rides. I wanted to go after the dental appointment as they are always late and I have waited as long as 45 minutes. He wanted me to go the hour before and I told him I could not be late and it would take me twenty minutes to walk over there. He said, no problem "I'll have you out of there in 15 minutes." I reiterated I had to leave twenty minutes before my appointment and he again said no problem.
I go to the appointment and waited 25 minutes, then I went to the window and told the girl I needed to leave in 15 minutes. First she bites my head off and tells me I was supposed to tell them when I had been waiting 15 minutes. I did not do that because past experience tells me there is no response to it. She tells me I have to wait. I tell her arrangements have been made and he knows why I have to leave. She tells me he is not there and tried to make out like it's some kind of official business. She then tells me I have to call him and hands me a card. I then say that I was there on time and he knows he missed the appointment, that all I will get is voice mail, so he should call me. She is then pissed and gets snotty. I ask to talk to the supervisor which I had been doing for weeks to no avail. He tells her I can't leave until I talk to my probation officer. I am pissed and suddenly my probation officer appears, isn't that amazing. We get in an argument in the hallway and he lies and tells me he did not remember my appointment. Later he told me I got loud, yea I probably did. Then I am in his office and he starts acting like an ass. He insists on getting the phone number from me so he can call the dental office like I am lying about it. What my possible reason for doing this is, I can't fathom. I told him I had already called, but if he wanted to call them feel free. He then insisted on the address because, "they had to know where I was". Why, they don't know where I am any other time? I told him all I had was the P.O. box number from the bill, I did not know the street name, but people in Kenai know about Aspen dental clinic. He could call them for the address. He then makes me tell him the route I would take to walk over there. I kid you not. He then lets me go, but I have to go right back after my appointment. Somewhere in this conversation I tell him they are acting like jackasses, then he screams at me that, "you don't talk to us like that."

When I get to the dental clinic I am upset and call the director of the department of probation, Donna White and start to tell her the story, including the part where I call them jackasses, but they call me for the appointment. I get an estimate of the work which is about $7500. I have one necrotic tooth and another that needs a root canal. I am pissed because if I had not been wrongfully incarcerated and put through all the hell I have been through in this state my teeth would not need all of this work. I would have never had a root canal. I would have never had a bill which on my disability will take years to pay off. Then on top of all of this I have them treat me not only abusively, but totally illogically. Why I was surprised that a division of the DOC would be abusive after what I have been through I do not know. After hearing the story the dental clinic put me in the CARTS program so I can afford to go get the work done more often and not have to worry about coordinating with the probation office. Clearly that was a huge mistake.
I go back armed with the bill for proof I was there which is just absolutely ridiculous seeing as I told him the month before about the appointment. He has no reason what-so-ever to not believe me for any reason. He says to me, "You came back", like he was surprised. I realize this is one of the techniques they use to get offenders to not come to their appointments so they can arrest them and put them in prison. I said to him, "Of course, I always do what I say I will." Now his demeanor has changed from earlier and he tells me he has been without a vehicle and he was at the garage talking to the mechanic and it went too long, this is why he was not there. Now I am even more pissed. He tells me he told the girl out front to let me leave after 15 minutes and she must have gotten her wires crossed. This is after he had already told me he forgot about the appointment. Now I am even more angry. If he had called and said I can't make the appointment and asked me to come later, no problem, even if it was personal business. If after I got there they had asked me to come back later, no problem. I just needed to go to my appointment. This was just plain old abuse and disrespect. DOC practices abuse of offenders just because they think they have a right to, it is a violation of the 8th amendment. Now because I am upset he whips out forms for me to sign so he can get my mental health records. I explain they already have those forms that I signed over a year ago. He wants me to go to counseling after I told him my saga of years of trying to get counseling in this damn state, even moving, it's impossible. I found someone in Anchorage, but could not find a decent place to live there. While he fills out one of the forms he checks the sex offender box. I then get extremely upset and start crying. That was it for me. He did cross out that box, but would have left it if I had not gotten upset. I had good experiences in the Kenai office in the past and never thought this would happen. It is time to blog about this. Somewhere in this meeting I told him I called Donna White and told her I said they were acting like jackasses. He then stated that would not make them happy.

I called the area supervisor the next day and told her the story, including calling them jackasses(the nicest thing I could come up with at the time). I told her that I had to be the lowest risk person they had, so what the hell! The DOC posts false policies on line so the public thinks they are doing what they are constitutionally supposed to do. The probation department has a call in program on their site. When I asked since I have pretty much no risk of committing any offenses(except J-walking) why am I not in this program. She tells me it isn't really being used. Surprise, surprise, surprise.
Now today they came for a home visit, because I told the supervisor he was always saying he was coming, but never did. They would not take off their shoes because they said they never knew what kind of situation they would be getting into. More disrespect. I really think they could kick my ass with their shoes off. I was in my night gown and it was the only day I can remember I did not make my bed, of course after being here several months without them coming for a visit they would show up today. I just have been very upset and am having trouble sleeping. The probation department in Alaska is geared towards sending as many people as they can back to prison and I have already been wrongfully imprisoned due to prosecutorial malfeasance. I have told my story and I am sure they think retaliation is in order. I told the supervisor I was not having a conversation with anyone in that office without recording it because I am not putting up with anymore denials of things said and it will also decrease the abuse. She told me I had to inform them if I did. I told her I had just informed their supervisor and I would inform them. I finally did that with that alcoholic public defender I had.

This is all for a monthly meeting that has no point to it. When I first started on probation my conditions were one thing according to the documents I was given. Then after more than a year of probation they tell me something else is in the conditions. Now, that particular thing was something I requested them to do and they refused. Yes, I wanted it and they would not do it, now they are requiring it. The paperwork they showed me from Nome had a date which shows they got it on their paperwork yet it was not on mine. My issue with it was lack of trust of the agency and wondering if they were using it to try and manufacture a reason to send me to prison. It is a wonder more people don't just run from the state. If they have people who are severely mentally ill they won't be able to stand this. Also young people will be terrified and may start drinking and using before the meeting and then just not go which will result in them being arrested. Many people will refuse probation and serve their full sentence in Alaska because they can't take the probation department. This is so sad.

There were other issues during this time, but this was the worst. A week before appointments with the department of probation I start having trouble sleeping and become depressed. I never know if the meeting will be OK or there will be some kind of threatening posture by the P.O. I also have no idea what else could be going on to influence them or even set me up for arrest. Not only have they shown they are retaliatory, but because I have been outspoken about other agencies in Alaska they may be influencing them. Having them come to my apartment is very scary, they could plant something. Remember, there was an incident where they tried to get me to buy drugs in Nome. It didn't work becasue I was not what they had been told by the serial bullies.

I rarely even leave my apartment now. I go to appointments or to get groceries, etc. I stay away from people because I am afraid one of these horrible people like so many I have come into contact with in Alaska will make false accusations against me. It would be one thing if I lived somewhere law enforcement investigated facts, the prosecutors based cases on findings of facts and judges even had common sense, but this is Alaska. The Department of Probation has terrorized me for years and it has all been totally uncalled-for.

After this incident I was informed I was being placed on minimal supervision. I only had to see them every three months and also mail them monthly reports. During the three months between visits I got a lot healthier and was able to get on a sleeping routine that was a lot healthier as well. I felt safer and much more comfortable in the world. I felt as if those in charge of the DOP had listened to me and were implementing changes. I did not blog about any of this and even said some nice things about them. My P.O. stopped saying threatening things to me. He did however piss me off one day by asking me if I was still “feeling paranoid”. This just goes to show how little they know about mental health. With PTSD people have hypervigilence which is behavior to protect themselves from further trauma and it is well warranted with the DOP. They traumatized me, increased my hypervigilence, then asked me if I was feeling paranoid, un-f-ing-believable. Anyone who has PTSD knows having it triggered over and over during a long period of time is like living in Hell. I believe this was the main goal.

If just one person at the DOP had any humanity or cared at all about me as a human being I would not have been traumatized that day. The biggest problem at the Kenai Adult Probation office is Ruben Foster the supervisor. Those under him have to do what he says. These people know I have PTSD. The probation officer who said those abusive things to me is supposed to be the mental health officer. Ruben Foster also knows I have PTSD he just decided he would not let me go to my appointment that day because of something I said.

This is the typical DOC techniques of treating people like they are not worth anything and then wondering why they re-offend. The difference with me is I do know I am a valuable person, that I have civil rights, and have a great deal of knowledge about how flawed the DOC in Alaska is.

I have not told this part of my story about one component of the Department of Corrections, the Probation Department because when I had issues in the past the higher ups did something about them. I got the impression Director Donna White and the Chief Probation Officer for my region, Rebecca Brunger, really wanted to do their jobs in a professional way and they were working to stop the abuses. They seemed to be different than the prison system. They listened to me several times when I called with incidents with probation officers that left me traumatized and stopped some of the abuses. Perhaps they are doing their best to implement changes, but the abusive attitudes are so ingrained in the probation officers because of the system they have been working in for decades that abuses and violation of rights will never be curtailed. I got the feeling for a time which I now know is wrong that changes were being implemented.

I realize they are not responsible for the injustices from the court system or the abuse from the prison systems and their hands are tied about many things. I just never expected so much abuse over such a long period of time. Several times I had hope that things were going to change for those on probation and parole. That hope is now completely gone. I decided to tell this story about my experiences with the probation department after a recent incident. I have even said some nice things about them in the past and really do not want to do this, but I have no choice. I may also be retaliated against.

I have now been through so many traumatic incidents with them in the 2 years and five months I have been on probation that I would not feel good about myself if I did not speak up. It is my hope to bring to light how people are treated by the probation department so others know they too can have a voice about the abuse and violation of their rights. In Alaska people don’t seem to know what really goes on with the DOC/DOP which makes those who complain about the problems seem like they are lying. The more we tell the stories, the more people will realize they are true. It is also very important for the public to know what really happens to those on probation and parole, so they can understand how the DOC/DOP contribute to recidivism and exacerbate mental health problems. I was hoping to wait the seven more months of my probation before telling this whole story for fear of retaliation, but it just can’t wait. They have shown me they are not going to change.

My first Contact with the Probation Department was really no contact. A report was written about me as if the probation officer knew me. In Nome my practicing alcoholic public defender told me how thrilled she was that a particular probation officer would be writing my pre-sentencing report. I found that odd, there is only one probation officer in Nome as far as I know. I told this P.D. that under no circumstances did I want that woman writing my report as she is friends with some of the players at the hospital. I knew she would be manipulated by them and perhaps even slant the report on purpose as that was what was generally happening with anything connected to my case. I also knew how awful people were treated by the court system in Nome. The P.D. told me not to worry as this woman was pregnant and she would not be available during the period of time the report would be written. I then told her this probation officer would “bust her ass” to write the report for her friends. I called Quinlan Steiner and the deputy director of the criminal division to tell them I did not want this woman to write the report. She wrote it and the P.D.’s attitude when I complained was a shoulder shrug and an, “Oh, well.” Knowing her she may have asked her to be sure to write it. That P.O. put a lot of misinformation in the report and rated me with only a moderate chance of rehabilitation. If she had known me she would know there was nothing to rehabilitate, but she was caught up in the rumor mill and lies in Nome. She wrote the report without having one conversation with me, knowing anything about my background, and with much influence from the serial bullies at the hospital, I don‘t know how much she was influenced by the prosecutor. That report was presented in court to the judge to review before sentencing me, under great protest from me. My protesting about that and other violations of due process were ignored by all involved. The report was pretty much bullshit, but the truth does not matter in the justice system in Alaska, just the goals of those in power.

My second contact was right after I was released from Wildwood Correctional Facility when I thought I was going to stay there for 45 days and got released after two days. I had paid bills and only had $70. Release from prison in Alaska just means they push you out the door without a concern if you have food, a place to stay or health care if you need it. They don’t care about health care as they deny it in the prisons. I had no idea which way to even walk to town. Someone heard me say that as I walked out of the prison and a guy in truck came and told me. Gee, thanks.

I ended up in a really awful women’s shelter for a while in Kenai. The building itself is nice, but the staff are very dysfunctional, add addicts, alcoholics and personality disorders to the mix…and it is a nightmare. There were several reports of narcotics and sedatives being stolen from the drug lock up cupboard there which made me even more uncomfortable. It was a prime chance for someone to blame me again for something I did not do. The probation officer said I could not have had access due to no access to the keys to the two locks. Even so it made me very anxious because I know how the DOL and law enforcement twist the truth with false information if they want to. The next place was a room in a run down hotel in Soldotna with a bar, prostitutes, people passed out in the halls, lots of noise, etc. The first probation officer was clearly not against me and mainly wanted to check to see if I had food when he visited me. When I left there I stayed at another hotel a month or two which was not a dump and was peaceful. There is way more to all of my housing stories which I should write about soon as well.

Then I decided to go to Homer to get started on the civil lawsuits. I got another probation officer who sees people in Homer and had all of the meetings in the court house. I looked over and saw the name of the judge who did not believe me when I told her I was falsely accused and would not allow me to get my cat and property to safety when I told her what would happen. It triggered my PTSD and I pointed at the name and said something about her being the morbidly obese judge who would not listen to the truth. The probation officer could have cared less that my PTSD was triggered or that it was traumatizing for me to have meetings there at the courthouse where a huge injustice had occurred. He only cared that I said the judge was morbidly obese and for some reason was upset about it. Unless she has lost weight she is. I have Aspergers, ok, I call it like it is and when he had a reaction I told him I was overweight myself and it really was not a put down so much as a description based on reality. I often described myself at the time as being moderately obese. This is also how nurses describe people. I once had a woman storm into the ICU angry because a cardiothoracic surgeon had written in her history and physical she had pendulous breasts. My response was that I also had pendulous breasts and so did several of my coworkers and patients in that unit right then. She looked stunned, turned and walked out. That doctor said he never heard from her again.

In Homer I carefully selected a place to rent due to huge problems in the past with slumlords there. I picked a brand new place thinking meth labs and parties would not be allowed. I was wrong. Yea, it was bad. I contacted two disability agencies and did as they said to complain. The response was that I was ejected from the place. I tried to file a case based on the landlord tenant act, but the court house was in transition and the law library was dismantled over a long period of time. Then it was change to just a computer. This made working on my civil suits impossible as well. No access to the courts in rural Alaska. That is how low income people are treated in Homer and much of Alaska. I was then suicidal for the second time since coming to Alaska. I kept thinking if I could just get back to America and out of this third world country I would be OK.

I also need to do a summary post of the crazy mental health care I have had in Alaska. After a few days I ended up in Anchorage at Providence Hospital. I was being transferred to the probation office in Anchorage and I hoped being in the city they might be more progressive. I was wrong. They were just more brutal.

I had no place to live and told them at the hospital I needed to go on line to look for a place to live. For some reason they lied to me and told me they had no WiFI, so I called some places that were in the paper with no results. My probation officer in the Kenai office told me the probation office in Anchorage had transitional housing so I called the woman who was my new probation officer. She told me very nastily that there was no transitional housing like I was just making it up. She said they had a halfway house that was just like being in jail and I would not be able to leave for the first thirty days. She clearly wanted to scare me out of that idea. I told her I just needed a place to stay while I searched for a place to live. Later I spoke with two men who told me their probation officers helped them find transitional housing.

I had two conversations with this woman on the phone while I was hospitalized for suicidal ideations, she was very ugly both times. She did not even know me, she is just abusive naturally. Her attitude was that I had no right to even ask questions and that I was lying about what the other P.O. had told me about the transitional housing, I was not. I did not know yet that essentially there is almost no low income housing in Anchorage and that landlords don’t rent to those with criminal records, no matter what the truth is about their situation. I also did not know that anyone who has no job to return to or a place to live when discharged from incarceration in Alaska is just let out into the street and the DOC nor any other state officials give a shit. I had also not found out that Alaska Housing Finance Corporation staff were going to lie to me about being able to get a voucher several times. If I had been turned down I could have appealed and most likely would have won.

I had to press a social worker at the hospital about housing and she finally gave me a list, the same list of non-available or untenable housing every agency in Anchorage had. She told me she did not recommend any except maybe one. I had already contacted that one and got vague information from the newspaper.

I was discharged from the hospital having been there for a week due to being suicidal to the street and I knew nothing about Anchorage. The nasty P.O. insisted that I come and see her as soon as I was discharged. She refused to let me wait until the next day. I had to use the bus system which I did not know at all while dragging a suitcase and carrying a backpack. I am directionally impaired which is pretty common for Aspies. That adds a lot to the stress. We also don’t tolerate changes like the ones I was going through very well. I had to find Brother Francis Shelter that day, but the P.O. would not wait until the next day to see me. Why? Just to be a bullying ass. I had been suicidal because of all I had been through and the last straw was seeing the judges name, not being able to access a law library and then loosing housing again and now I was homeless again. Rather than be supportive or just treat me like a human being she did everything she could to harm me. She is the most dehumanizing P.O. I have come in contact with. Many of these people should not in any way have any contact with anyone with mental health issues of any kind, no way. They should just deal with their own mental health issues.

So, I arrived with my luggage to the Anchorage Probation Office and noticed a sign that said I could not bring my backpack, etc. in there. Nice sign since so many of the people who have to come in there are homeless. I filled out the form they make us fill out every time we go in there with the same damn information over and over, then waited and waited. They apparently aren’t real big on timed appointments there. I sat a long period of time while I was very worried as I knew nothing about Brother Francis and actually getting checked into the shelter that day. I was wondering how all the people who had jobs were supposed to keep their jobs when they had to wait there so long for an appointment.

Finally a woman called my name and I went up for the metal detector wanding and search they do every time I have gone into a probation office. I had all the luggage and she began going through it. I was not happy about that because I have no idea if her hands are clean and even if they are I don’t like it. I did not complain about it. At that time I was still having a lot of pain and had acetaminophen and ibuprofen in baggies that were easily accessible so I did not have to dig through everything to get to them if I had pain. She found the acetaminophen and began to ask me questions. “Is this prescription strength Tylenol”,…I told her it was just plain Tylenol. She then asked me that question several different ways. I kept telling her nothing was in the pill but acetaminophen and she could send it to a lab if she questioned it. I was thinking she must think they might be Vicodin because they were the shape of Vicodin, but then I realized that was not the case. Again she asked me if they were prescription strength Tylenol. Finally exasperated with being interrogated by a woman who had no idea what she was talking about with an attitude like I was some kind of an idiot in a very abusive way I said, “Look, there is no such thing as prescription strength Tylenol.” For a while I had been trying to figure out what she was getting at, then I realized she was not too bright. Who doesn’t know acetaminophen is an over the counter medication? I had made it clear to her it was just plain acetaminophen with no other medication. She then became very threatening and I was brought to the back. She told me they had to get some information from me. She asked me a few basic questions which I answered while crying. Then I asked her why they were asking me questions for basic information the DOP already had and got no answer. You see I was told to come down there just so they could be abusive to me, simple and plain.

Then I was told I could leave by this woman who was not my probation officer, she is a technician. I of course wanted to know why I had to come to the office if I was not even seeing the probation officer. Apparently this probation officer was listening and immediately appeared and became nasty just like on the phone. She threatened to send me back to jail right then because of my questions. I then told her that she could not send me to jail unless I violated a condition of my probation or committed a crime. Apparently at the DOP asking questions and making comments is considered a crime by many. A crime against their inflated egos. That would of course make me one of the biggest criminals in the history of Alaska in their minds due to my propensity for question asking and comment making. She then told me I had to come in for orientation the next day and then stay for a meeting with her. Oh, joy. When I told her I had already done orientation she told me their’s was different than in Kenai which is not true. It was done in a different way, but the content was the same, of course it is. They once again told me all the types of knives I could not have and I still have no idea what any of them even are.

At the meeting after the exciting orientation she was a snarky smartass. She mainly turned up the radio on her desk really loud and be-bopped to the music and typed into her computer while I sat there wondering why the hell I was there and that she either needed some medication or was taking too much. Something was not right, this woman was underweight and acting weird. She asked me about the Salvation Army’s housing not too far away. She drove me there and the guy behind the desk wanted to talk with her in private in the back. It was like some kind of strange spy movie. When she came out she told me they were full which I knew was a lie as I was diligently searching for housing and had spoken to him already. As we left I asked her what that was about and why being full was a secret and she became very angry. I told her I was not stupid. She then said, “I don’t play that”, this was not the first time she had used gangster talk on me. I am in my 50s. When I asked her why she talked to me that way she said, “You should see the people I have to deal with.” Did I look like them, I asked. Now I realized she had a very negative opinion of the people she worked with and no skills of communication. I refused a ride from her preferring to walk a long distance rather than suffer any more of her abuse and BS.

Ok…time to call higher ups. I called the director of the DOP who directed me to call the supervisor of the office. The supervisor wanted to have a meeting with me and the P.O., but I just wanted to get a new one, the situation was not going to get better with her. I called Kenai and talked to a former P.O. who told me that abusive woman was his friend and she was a good P.O. I clearly told him there was something wrong with her and she was very mean. I had just gotten out of the hospital for PTSD with suicidal ideation and now I was sicker than before admission from severe abuse.

So, more phone calls. I had already not been listened to about the alcoholic public defender and other issues, I did not want to negotiate about this. So I called Director White again. Then we had a meeting in which I was given a sex offender P.O. temporarily. Great now I have to carry the sex offender P.O. card around in my wallet. Then they decided to give me to another P.O. Before I even saw this person I got the call about housing in Soldotna and left Anchorage. I was then back at the Kenai Adult Probation Office. I was glad to get away from the crazy DOP office in Anchorage. I was not all that thrilled about Soldotna, but I knew the manager of the apartments was a good person. I wanted to stay in Anchorage for many reasons including the law library.

I had an abortion over thirty years ago after I was gang raped. The experience was traumatic, just like the rape, but it was the right thing to do. It was done at the Planned Parenthood Clinic at San Francisco General Hospital. After all this time I remember what everything looked like in the clinic, what was on the TV in the recovery area and the doctor's name.

Governor Parnell's Chamber of Commerce Speech: Conspicuously Missing Workplace Bullying

From the ADN: Employers need to start thinking of domestic violence and sexual assault as a personnel matter, not merely as a personal problem, Gov. Sean Parnell said Monday in calling on Alaska businesses to join his fight to end the scourge over the next decade.

In a speech to the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, Parnell said victims bear the ultimate cost of violence. But he cited national statistics showing that domestic violence costs victims and employers nearly $19 billion a year, including such things as lost productivity, sick leave, unexplained absences and medical care.

Workplace bullying is a type of psychological trauma which can be psychological or physical comes at an even higher cost to businesses. It is also a high cost to society. The audience Parnell spoke to are themselves the perpetrators of this type of violence. It is often a part of their culture and sanctioned from high up. Highly experienced and educated employees are completely taken out of the workforce and end up on disability from the psychological damage. Why did Governor Parnell not even mention workplace bullying which is endemic in Alaska and has resulted in violence such as shootings and psychological trauma such as the PTSD I have from workplace bullying at a health care facility in bush Alaska? The Republican war on the middle class has a lot to do with that.

The “lost productivity, sick leave, unexplained absences and medical care“ caused by workplace bullies is then used as an excuse for more workplace bullying often facilitated by Human Resources departments. Workplace bullying causes devastating physical health problems which can result in death. The victims of workplace bullying also “bear the ultimate cost of violence” because they often loose their jobs, references for another job, their mental health, their ability to trust people, and friends, because people don’t understand workplace bullying and blame the victim. Victims of domestic violence get sympathy and help, victims of workplace bullying get shunned by coworkers, blamed, called crazy and sometimes as in my case mobbed in the community due to false rumors spread by the serial workplace bullies and their second tier sycophants. This is a form of workplace violence that is legal and Alaska is doing nothing about it. Targets of workplace bullying often become suicidal, become chemically dependent, get divorced, or commit crimes they are arrested for when they have a psychotic break or nervous breakdown from the PTSD (just like soldiers do).

The problem "has seeped inside our offices. Domestic violence and sexual assault are invisible marauders in the workplace," he said. "They hurt employees, families, collective productivity and the prosperity of our communities and businesses."

Workplace bullying is very similar to domestic violence, especially the psychological factor. The research shows the psychological abuse is much more damaging than the physical abuse. None of these types of violence have just recently just started happening nor are they invisible.

With workplace bullying there is no support because even the mental health practitioners in Alaska known nothing about it. The victim is blamed, making them sicker, if they loose it and do something to get arrested they are then incarcerated which makes them much sicker due to the abuses in the prisons. The court system does not allow the target to even discuss the psychological violence they have suffered, my case proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt. Having to deal with the injustice and prosecutorial misconduct that goes on in this state makes defendants very ill to begin with.

It is also very psychologically damaging to be abused and harmed while the abusers have no consequences, then when you become mentally ill and get arrested you are severely punished. I suffered for a long time before I lost it and got charged with felonies. No one should have to be tortured until they are that mentally disturbed just for trying to do their job. I have been a victim of domestic violence and I was also gang raped (by 8 men) and got over that fairly quickly, but I will never get over workplace bullying, the abuse I received at the hands of several government agencies in Alaska (which is ongoing, BTW), especially the abuse from the department of corrections and justice system. Workplace bullying causes layer upon layer of trauma, especially when the justice system is involved. The ignorance in the justice system in Alaska causes great harm.

Justice in Alaska is only for the elite and wealthy. People who work for a living are not in those categories. Unions were in place to protect employees from all kinds of abuses, but for the most part have been systematically destroyed over several decades. Governor Parnell, Dan Sullivan nor the Chamber of Commerce don’t give a rats ass about employees who suffer any kind of abuse. Get real!

Alaska is just now addressing violence and abuse in the workplace from domestic violence while the rest of the country having dealt with that issue a long time ago moves on to workplace bullying. It’s like living in the 1980s up here. They haven’t decided to do something about violence against women because it is the morally right thing to do, it is because they were shamed into it by the horrible statistics about Alaska.

The Olympian reports the state Civil Rights Commission would investigate complaints of an abusive work environment.
Employees who have been harmed psychologically, physically or economically would have legal recourse.
Abusive conduct is defined as behavior that a reasonable person would find hostile, offensive and unrelated to legitimate business interests.

A companion bill has been introduced in the House by Rep. Mark Liias of Mukilteo.

SOP AT THE DOL: Last week some issues came up

The Department of Law has been holding back evidence for years. The defense has a right to all evidence the prosecutor has, but in Alaska the DOL does not believe in due process. Finally the Public Defender Agency is speaking up about it and one out of two judges actually listened. I guess the public defenders on these cases are sober and showed up for their Constitutional Law course, she said, chuckling to herself.

Waterman's defense lawyer argued that prosecutors should have shared information about allegations that one of the main police officers on the case lied under oath at Waterman's first trial, even though the defense later learned the information on its own.

The issue isn't whether the officer lied -- it's that the state was told he lied, and did nothing about it, defense lawyer Steven Wells argued in Anchorage Superior Court.

"What is the natural inference that comes from that, and that is 'what else does the state have?'" Wells asked in court Monday.
The defense lawyer said that one of main reasons people are wrongfully convicted is because of police or prosecutorial misconduct.
"That includes not providing evidence of innocence to the defense," Wells told the judge.
After sending the jury home while he considered the matter, Superior Court Judge William Carey rejected the defense argument.
"This is not the Ted Stevens case," Carey said from the bench.

Really Judge Carey? Is that because the defendant is not a powerful senator and is represented by the public defender agency? The issue is the same, evidence withheld by the prosecution? I smell an appeal.

A Kenai judge has granted a Fairbanks man convicted of a 1982 murder last year a new trial because the prosecutor withheld information about weakness of the DNA evidence against him.

The state failed to give Eacker's attorney a laboratory report related to possible contamination of a DNA sample by the laboratory hired by the defense. The state had offered to have a different sample retested by both the state and defense, according to a news release from the state Department of Law
"It is the responsibility of the state to provide all exculpatory evidence to the defense as soon as the state is able," said Deputy Attorney General Richard Svobodny.

Now, what was that you said to me Mr. Svobodney when I complained of prosecutor malfeasance in my case? That no one would ever do anything about it, called me a liar and then you hung up on me. I know you could care less about justice or due process, your B.S. will not fool me. You are just playing a game that has nothing to do with justice.

The case against him relied on an Alaska State Troopers cold case investigation using DNA technology not available at the time of the crime.

That DNA evidence is getting closer scrutiny.
Last week state Superior Court Judge Anna Moran -- who presided over the five-week trial in Kenai last March -- threw out the conviction following post-trial motions and evidentiary hearings on the DNA issue.
David Weber, one of two public defenders on the case, said charges needed to be thrown out because the prosecutor had intentionally withheld information.
"The state had been advised by one of its experts that the evidence was not reliable due to the age of the DNA and the storage of the DNA," he said. "We thought the behavior was so bad (the case) should be dismissed."

Here in Alaska most of the people just don’t understand that it does matter that everyone receives due process in our courts. People charged with horrible crimes have to get their full rights in the court room. They are innocent until proven guilty and real evidence should be used, not lies, part of the evidence or demonizing. If they don’t get their fair day in court how can we all be assured that we can get a fair shake if ever charged with a crime. Don’t think it can’t happen to you, it can. Lots of innocent people are in prison right now and some of them in horrible conditions that will shorten their lives. Good people can make mistakes or become mentally disturbed, don't ever think they will consider who you really are in the court room. The prosecutors for the most part in this country have no sense of justice or ethics. All they care about is winning, it is a game to them. The legislators stack the cards against defendants with unfair laws designed to help private prison industries make a profit off human beings, like they are slaves. State budgets pay more for prosecution than defense. The prosecutors are in control of the evidence, the police and can manipulate people to testify with threats. This is the main thing that shocked me about my ordeal with injustice, that there is no justice, unless the defendant has the money to hire a particular attorney. The rest of us are screwed.

An attorney with the state Department of Law faces a felony theft charge for shoplifting shoes from a Fred Meyer store in late December, according to police in a criminal complaint filed Jan. 20.
The Law Department confirmed state labor attorney Erin Pohland, 31, is the woman charged.

$1,020.08 worth of shoes, that is quite a shoe fetish. She must be the Imelda Marcos of prosecutors, but really Fred Myers? This must be one of the DOL’s labor attorneys Governor Parnell uses to reduce police and firemen while engaging in union busting activities.

Over a long period of time a few years ago I had on line chats with lots of people in the middle east, including a reporter at Al Jazeera. One of them was a law student in Iran who when at school was surrounded by his classmates and when at home his mother was often present. One was an officer in the military in Turkey. There were also some in Egypt. I wanted to know how they felt about the people of the United States after the Bush regime invaded a country for power and capitalist reasons. All of them said they hated our government, but not the people. They said people are the same everywhere. It was repeated often by people in many countries that the people will change things. They said they believed the people in the United States would make huge changes after the Bush regime...well we tried. While I was called an infidel by the reporter at Al Jazeera, which is certainly true, most of the people said they believed everyone has a right to their own choice of religion. Someone in the military told me that most likely the FBI was monitoring me. I did not care at the time because we were having cultural discussions. I know a lot more about the malfeasance of the DOJ and how many people were wrongfully imprisoned due to the Iraq war now, then there are the FBI raids on peace orgs. When I saw the revolution in Egypt starting I was ecstatic. They did it, after all this time, they did it, they got rid of Mubarak and took their country back. Now, if they can just establish a real democracy without U.S. interference they will be well on their way to a better life.

That is how Aspies typically are, very passionate and focused. There is a huge misconception about what goes on inside autistics. People with Aspergers are often working in the helping professions, that is because we are very tuned into feelings and want to help others. Because we start off life with a deficit when it comes to non-verbal communication people think Aspies don't have the same feelings as others, including some mental health professionals. I am so happy FLOTUS is working on this issue. The Food Industry aka (merchants of death) in this country has been allowed to sell unhealthy food for decades. The FDA is owned by them. Produce should be the cheapest thing in the store. People who have limited incomes have no choice, they have to eat the cheapest food they can find. We are in an economic crisis, so a lot more people are eating crap food. In the not too distant future food prices are going to skyrocket, especially here in Alaska due to the coming increase of oil due to post peak oil. It is insane that eating a healthy salad for dinner is more expensive than a burger and fries.

Fructose corn syrup is produced mainly from Monsanto GMO corn. It blocks the hormone that tells us we are full. The food industry adds it to a huge number of processed foods so people will eat more of their product due to not feeling full and because it makes the cheap, crappy ingredients in their products taste better. This GMO corn is also fed to chickens, cattle and other food animals. That is not what they are supposed to eat, so automatically they are unhealthy. We have been eating unhealthy meat for decades. The eggs produced by chickens which eat the poison Monsanto has forced upon us don’t have the right mix of omegas which causes many problems. Animals fed for just a short time on this corn had multiple organ failures. It also has been found to cause a dangerous condition called Metabolic Syndrome. In the Economic Policy Institute’s November 18th brief #289 entitled, “Different Race, Different Recession” they describe the difference between the white unemployment rate and the native unemployment rate in Alaska. White unemployment is 6.9% and native unemployment is 21.3%. This is a huge contributor to the social problems in the native communities. Poverty is the facilitator of most social ills. Alaska politicians brag about our low unemployment compared to other states while the Native people are having another Great Depression.

There are two very different experiences of the recession in some regions of the country. While Alaska and the Northern Plains states have had some of the lowest unemployment rates for whites since the start of the recession, these regions have had among the highest rates of joblessness for American Indians. This Issue Brief documents these extreme regional employment disparities as well as the smaller but still significant ones between American Indians and whites from the first half of 2007 to the first half of 2010. It presents American Indian and white unemployment rates and employment-to-population ratios nationally and broken down by region.

The key findings are:

• From the first half of 2007 to the first half of 2010, the American Indian unemployment rate nationally increased 7.7 percentage points to 15.2%. This increase was 1.6 times the size of the white increase.

• By the first half of 2010, the unemployment rate for Alaska Natives jumped 6.3 percentage points to 21.3%—the highest regional unemployment rate for American Indians.

• Since the start of the recession, American Indians in the Midwest (see Table 1 for the states within each region) experienced the greatest increase in unemployment, growing by 10.3 percentage points to 19.3%.

• By the first half of this year, slightly more than half—51.5%—of American Indians nationally were working, down from 58.3% in the first half of 2007.

• In the first half of this year, only 44% of American Indians in the Northern Plains were working, the worst employment rate for Native Americans regionally.

• The employment situation is the worst for American Indians in some of the same regions where it is best for whites: Alaska and the Northern Plains.

Racial discrimination took a huge backwards step under Sarah Palin and then Sean Parnell. In 2007 the Native unemployment rate was 15.1% with a jump in 2010 to 21.3%. Sarah Palin’s lack of planning and failure to take action to decrease the crises in the Native villages due to global warming along with her failure to address the problems of finding work for those who have had to leave their villages is a glaringly huge example of her lack of qualification to be president. I guess it takes more than cookies and an evangelical conman to create jobs. The conclusion is obvious:

These are also the regions of the country where the ratio of the Native-to-non-Native population is among the highest (U.S. Census Bureau 2007). These facts raise the possibility that the problem of low employment rates among American Indians may be at least partially due to larger social and economic conflicts between the two groups.

The brief also discusses why the Bureau of Indian Affairs report on unemployment in the native population has statistics much lower than their report. The BIA leaves a lot of native people out of their report. They only include those who live on or near a reservation and receive BIA services.

When I lived in Nome and I said it was like a town in Mississippi in the 1950s I was not joking. That is not true of everyone of course, there are some who very strongly believe in equality in every way. I call them “the real Alaskans“. The problem with these small villages is bullies end up taking over in a lot of different ways and they get to project their prejudices in policy and weak personalities follow along. Lesser sycophant bullies have weak personalities. Those who stand up to them are often harmed with the help of a mob. It takes outside intervention to force a change. The BIA should have done something about a lot of things a long time ago.

Al Jazeera has taken the step of discussing the violent passages from the Bible and Koran. Then they further discuss misconceptions about Islam. I applaud them. This was a brave subject for a news show in the Middle East. Discussion is a good place to begin to dispel false information. Those who have something to gain from having the people in this country afraid of “terrorists” are using Islam as a scapegoat. Rather than look at the real reasons for anger against this country, they divert attention from the truth by demonizing a religion. The right wing news media goes right along with it, without a care for the real facts.

While I am glad attention is being brought to an American form of torture in our prisons, isolation, I am about to start screaming due to the ignorance of those writing about it. Having Aspergers my favorite form of screaming is using all caps. The real story here should be that thousands of people in the United States are being held in even worse conditions than Bradley Manning. His incarceration is not unusual, except for not allowing him to exercise in his cell, yet he has other privileges such as TV that are not generally allowed.

From Mother Jones:Europe's eyes were on the curious competing theories at Sing Sing and Eastern State. A celebrity at the time, Charles Dickens visited Eastern State to have a look for himself at this radical new social invention. Rather than impressed, he was shocked at the state of the sensory-deprived, ashen inmates with wild eyes he observed. He wrote that they were "dead to everything but torturing anxieties and horrible despair...The first man...answered...with a strange kind of pause...fell into a strange stare as if he had forgotten something..." Of another prisoner, Dickens wrote, "Why does he stare at his hands and pick the flesh open...and raise his eyes for an instant...to those bare walls?"

"The system here, is rigid, strict and hopeless solitary confinement," Dickens concluded. "I believe it…to be cruel and wrong...I hold this slow and daily tampering with the mysteries of the brain, to be immeasurably worse than any torture of the body."

In the late 1800s, the Supreme Court of the United States began looking at growing clinical evidence emanating from Europe that showed that the psychological effects of solitary were in fact dire. In Germany, which had emulated the isolationist Pennsylvania model, doctors had documented a spike in psychosis among inmates. Over the last week or so I have read several articles with the theme that Bradley Manning is being held in unusual conditions and the article on the Huff Post today entitled Bradley Manning's Confinement Conditions Are 'Not Customary' triggered my PTSD and has set me off as the last straw. This is disrespectful to all those who have been and still are in solitary confinement. He doesn’t get sheets, but he gets a pad to sleep on, he gets to read the news, he gets to watch TV, and he gets regular food. I was told that at Wildwood I would not be allowed to receive newspapers because it was too much of a hassel for staff. Manning has things people in solitary confinement don’t always get, especially TV. Are they even making him wear one of those suicide outfits with Velcro?

When will people wake up and smell the roses, the information is out there. Before writing a piece about prisons it would be nice if people could do a little reality research. It is really starting to get on my nerves that so many are writing that Manning is being held in unusually harsh conditions. He is not. His conditions are harsh, inhumane, horrendous, and against everything this country is supposed to stand for, but this is what goes on in prisons all over the United States. It is the norm, military or civilian. When the hell is America going to wake up and smell the roses? When is President Obama going to do something about this? The mainstream news media says almost nothing about the fact that our country’s incarcerated make up about 25% of the world’s prison population. I guess it goes along with continuing to have secret prisons and extraordinary renditions, or decreeing the assassination of American citizens rather than arrest and trial. It also goes along with the massive surveillance of all of us and raids by the FBI against peace activists.

NPR: 1829 - The first experiment in solitary confinement in the United States begins at the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. It is based on a Quaker belief that prisoners isolated in stone cells with only a Bible would use the time to repent, pray and find introspection. But many of the inmates go insane, commit suicide, or are no longer able to function in society, and the practice is slowly abandoned during the following decades.

This practice is back and they often will only allow inmates to have a Bible, several inmates at Hiland Mountain told me of this practice in admin. seg. (only Christian propaganda was available, I even asked, they had nothing else). If I had known Palin had them run off the Wicca lady I most likely would have asked for Wicca material even though I am not Wiccan.

To say the conditions of Manning's confinement are "not customary" is false, except for the prevention of exercises in the cell. Often people are not taken outside for exercise or sunlight from solitary confinement. People are held in these conditions all over the country, not just in military prisons. This is what supermax prisons are about and many prisons have supermax wings. The private prison industry is swinging towards massive solitary confinement because they can run the prisons with less staff and less skilled staff. Solitary confinement also prevents access to the outside so the inmate can’t communicate about conditions in the prisons and lies that are being told about them in the news media.

In prisons in the United States people are put in solitary confinement, called administrative segregation to punish them for writing grievances due to violations of their civil rights, poor conditions, lack of medical care, because they are mentally ill (staff are not trained to deal with them), and demands for access to sunlight or exercise, complaints about abusive treatment by corrections officers (along with nursing and medical staff) and demands to use the law library. I experienced it myself when I was wrongfully imprisoned for a short time in Alaska and then began researching what goes on. It is horrifying. I am glad light is being shined on this horrendous practice, but for the most part Manning's confinement is NOT unusual. This is also a typical practice for detainees who are illegal and sometimes legal aliens.

NPR: 1890 - In an opinion concerning the effects of solitary confinement on inmates housed in Philadelphia (Re: Medley, 134 U.S. 160), U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Freeman Miller finds, "A considerable number of the prisoners fell, after even a short confinement, into a semi-fatuous condition, from which it was next to impossible to arouse them, and others became violently insane; others still, committed suicide; while those who stood the ordeal better were not generally reformed, and in most cases did not recover sufficient mental activity to be of any subsequent service to the community."

The effects of solitary confinement have been known for a long time. People are being harmed purposefully. If released they will be right back in prison because they can long longer function on their own, it destroys them.

The staff in the mental health unit tried to get me put in administrative segregation after being held in solitary confinement in the mental health unit at Hiland Mountain. I wrote grievances which were disappeared. I wrote a lot of them and none of them ever seemed to surface nor was there a hearing in response. The only hearing was the one with a parole officer to decide if I should go into admin. Seg. When I told her my story and what had gone on she had tears in her eyes and without even asking her I knew she had heard this story one too many times. She made me a level one (least security risk inmate) and recommended I go to open population so I could get phone calls to people and get bailed out to save my cat, save my property and start working on my defense (the public defenders never came to see me). They then held me for two more days in the mental health unit after her recommendation. The last day I was there they made me go to a group. A question was asked of everyone regarding how a situation with a difficult person was handled? I then gave my answer using psychological terms and evaluation of a relative who is an abusive, borderline, lifelong alcoholic. I knew it was going to piss them off. This upset them immediately and I got wide eyed glaring from staff. I had also told them I just wanted to stay in my cell and never come out as I enjoyed the solitude, etc. This was very disturbing for them as they could no longer use it as leverage to punish me or attempt to get me to follow along with their program of points for certain behaviors to earn more time out of the cell. My ass was out of there in about two hours. But they did not send me to open population, they put me in the orientation unit where an officer told me he could hold me for months because I complained he prevented me from going to the law library. He did a lot of other unethical things as well. But the officer who was on opposite him is crazy as a bed bug, so most of the inmates like him just because he is not her. I heard they closed that unit two days after I left the prison.

NPR: 1989 - California builds Pelican Bay, a new prison built solely to house inmates in isolation. By most accounts, it is the first Supermax facility in the country. There is no need to build a yard, cafeteria, classrooms or shops. Inmates spend 22 1/2 hours a day inside an 8-by-10-foot cell. The other 1 1/2 hours are spent alone in a small concrete exercise pen.

This saves the government and private corporations money.

When I was first arrested I was taken to Wildwood and placed in the holding area or drunk tank area for about three days. I am very familiar with the appropriate procedures for such a unit having worked in them in a psychiatric facility for mentally ill legal offenders as well as the infirmaries on McNeil Island and Purdy (Washington Women’s Correctional Facility). These corrections officers in Alaska have no idea what really dangerous units are and I worked without the special equipment these pussies use.

I had a mat in that cell about the thickness of a high school gymnasium exercise mat which was placed on the cement floor of a freezing cold cell which was full of spiders which would crawl on me, occasionally biting. No showers, tooth brush, soap or towel were allowed. I did get a blanket. The corrections officers thought the spiders crawling on the inmates was really funny, “They are pretty bad, he he he.” They goofed off, psychologically torturing me mainly due to my insistence that not only was I innocent, but the conditions were illegal. Through the food slot they told me I was a criminal, a scum bag and more. I occasionally got my medications from a very nasty nurse and ignorant nurse during my three day stay there (in less than thirty days I was in four different facilities a tactic used to prevent communication with the outside world) who made me take high doses of Trazadone and Gabapentin at the same time when I told her they would make me throw up if taken together. Then she said I threw up on purpose. She also held them in retaliation at times and I would be willing to bet documented I refused them. This and many other things she did are a violation of the nurse practice act under AAC 44.760 and AAC 44.770.

The person in the cell next to me in Wildwood went into at least a respiratory arrest and they did not notice for a while due to screwing around, junior high school behavior. She was most likely intoxicated and should have been closely watched both by corrections officers and nursing staff, most likely the reason she was in that unit. Then it was the keystone cops when they finally found her. She left Wildwood intubated on a cart with paramedics. I would like to know what happened to her. I was yelling to be let out of my cell as I spent years as a nurse doing CPR on people and experienced CPR providers decrease brain damage and increase survival. Of course they just covered my little cell door window.

NPR: 1990s - The building boom of Supermax or control-unit prisons begins. Oregon, Mississippi, Indiana, Virginia, Ohio, Wisconsin and a dozen other states all build new, free-standing, isolation units.

I slept on a metal bunk at Hiland mountain without a sleeping pad for two nights, had to beg for toilet paper, was refused a towel and soap, and fed a starvation diet of lettuce, carrots and a slice of nitrate filled lunch meat for all three meals (I lost eight pounds in less than a week). They did give me a blanket, but no pillow. They claimed a shortage of pillows, yet gave inmates who came in after me pillows. I am severely allergic to wool and had constant unrelenting itching. The blankets are made of wool and designed so it is not obvious they are. I was mainly concerned about my cat who I knew would be abused, my property that I knew was being stolen and trying to make contact with the incompetent and uncaring public defender agency, as well as not thinking right due to abrupt med withdrawal or I would have realized right away the blanket was wool. The staff knew the blankets were wool and that was why I had itching so severe I was scratching until I bled, yet they let it go on for days until I finally realized what the problem was. What kind of idiot would buy wool blankets anyway when so many are allergic? The obvious solution was to give me a different kind of blanket, but instead they told me the only solution was for me to smear lard all over myself. This was designed to degrade me more.

They had also abruptly and dangerously stopped my medication for the PTSD and Aspergers Syndrome causing me great suffering and mental confusion (BTW, a telephone hearing was held in the Nome Court during this time of confusion). Their psychiatrist after talking to me for about three minutes not only told me I did not have Aspergers, she also told me autistics do not have diarrhea, just to give you an idea of her level of expertise. This was right after the psychologist told me I had no mental illness, I was just "arrogant and nasty". The psychiatrist also made this statement to me, “I’ve seen more people with Aspergers than you ever will.” I doubt that very seriously as I used to attend an Aspie support group in L.A., and worked with autistic people at a large state facility. I also worked with mentally ill legal offenders who were autistic. They told me I had no mental illness when it was very clear I was extremely disturbed and did have a severe case of complex PTSD, yet they continued to hold me in the same conditions. Those conditions they held me in while I knew my cat was being harmed, my property was being stolen, I was innocent, and the inhumane treatment I experienced and observed have harmed me irreparably. This is not something that can be fully recovered from.

They also claimed I might be dangerous because I was outspoken and angry. I was angry and had a right to be. I have a right to be outspoken about the abuse by DA Earthman and Judge Esch that got me wrongfully incarcerated, the lies told to them by the serial workplace bullies at Norton Sound Health Corporation, the lies told to me by the public defender agency to manipulate me, the lack of response of state senators and especially the office of half-governor Sarah Palin, the incompetence and corruption of the Alaska State Troopers, the violations of my rights that were going on at the prison (as well as the violations of the rights of very mentally ill inmates). I always will be angry about it and I should be.

I was denied medical care because the midlevel I finally saw two days before I was released ignorantly told me Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ Myalgic Enchephalomyelitis is not a real illness. There were other inmates who also had it and were told the same thing. The stress I went through caused a flare up that made me very ill. CFS/ME is very much like AIDS. The retroviruses which are associated with it are activated by the stress hormone Cortisol, any stress can do it psychological or physical. This is a type of willful medical ignorance I find all over Alaska, but is done in the prisons to deny health care. Just like the psychiatrist who had no idea what a female Aspie was because she had not read any further than the limited and deceptive DSM-IV male oriented description of it.

NPR: 1999 - A report by the Department of Justice finds that more than 30 states are operating a Supermax-type facility with 23-hours-a-day lockdown and long-term isolation. The study finds that some states put 0.5 percent of their total inmates in this kind of facility, while other states lock up more than 20 percent of their inmates this way.

The reasons for my treatment: staff at prisons think all inmates are lying so when I said I was innocent it pissed them off, they were retaliating because I told them what they did was violating civil rights, I demanded medical care, I told the psychiatrist she did not know what she was talking about, I refused to participate in the behavior point system in the mental health unit and I wrote one grievance after another. One of the reasons for these conditions is to purposefully cause psychological harm, often just for revenge of prison staff who have their own psychological issues which are very similar to the workplace bullies I had gotten my original PTSD from.

It is not a secret to those who manage systems of corrections that solitary confinement and cruelty cause mental illness. They are also fully aware of the conditions that are supposed to be upheld in the prisons, yet are allowed to get away with violating them. The DOJ has done a few token prosecutions of prison guards who were abusive under Eric Holder, but it is very limited. They put inmates in administrative segregation on purpose to break the them, they even told me this is what they were doing to me. It causes people to loose their spirit, get PTSD, and become dependent. It is very devastating to someone who had a mental health problem before the solitary confinement, like myself with the PTSD. I was fortunate to only be in that situation a short time. I was also fortunate to have the knowledge base to know what they were doing was wrong and I did not deserve the way they treated me. I think those who are brainwashed into believing they deserve the horrid treatment in the prisons are the ones who never get better over time. Many have been permanently destroyed. There are people who have been in these conditions eight or twelve years, or longer. Some of them have even been later exonerated of the charges they were confined for.

I think the worst part of this whole sad story about our prisons is finding out that the propaganda we have all been fed about what the United States is turned out to be completely false. Our court systems are not the shining examples of justice that we are told they are. Government agencies along with private prison corporations/private intelligence corporations/private security corporations are using people like slaves for profit. Inmates are used for no pay or very low pay to help corporations make huge profits off their products, a kind of in-sourcing. This is why I am so broken hearted about the United States.

When will the citizens of this country wake up and realize that something is seriously wrong when huge numbers of our people are being incarcerated for profit. It is not just the private prison corporations (helped out by lobbying of corrections officers unions) who are making a profit off of prisoners, the corporations sell products and services to the prisons and there are businesses around them that profit from mass incarceration. Most people have no idea the federal government pays community jails and state prisons to hold immigrants in “detention”.

People who have been held in conditions like this can no longer function in society and many commit slow suicide with drugs and alcohol.

NPR: 2005 - Daniel P. Mears, an associate professor at Florida State University, conducts a nationwide study and finds there are now 40 states operating Supermax or control-unit prisons, which collectively hold more than 25,000 U.S. prisoners.

25,000 in 2005, I would not be surprised if the number has more than doubled by now due to the explosion of private prison corporations and other issues in the U.S. Certainly no one can say the conditions of Manning’s incarceration are unusual, he in fact has many “luxuries” others in solitary don’t have, including large numbers of people who speak out for him and actively try to pressure the government to change his conditions. Inmates who are isolated and have no contact with the outside loose everyone they had in their lives and can’t get media or legal attention. Just like the Department of Correction’s regulations in Alaska that are just there for show, the military regulations are there for legal protocol purposes. They do as they damn well please and will continue to do so unless those of us on the outside put pressure on them. Yes, what they are doing to Manning is wrong, but it is wrong for the thousands of other inmates as well.

Remember I said I was tortured in the prison system here in Alaska. I was only in those conditions a short period of time, but had already been through unbelievable stress that sends most of the nurses who are workplace bullied in Nome screaming to the lower 48 before this happened. I stayed to fight for justice because at that time I had the false belief that if the truth was told I would get justice. The catch is they don’t allow the truth to be told, that is how they control us. Justice is only for those who can buy it. It had a devastating effect on me due to my PTSD and what was happening on the outside (The state government in Alaska on many levels knew my cat was being harmed and my property was being stolen and allowed it to happen, they also knew I was innocent). They abruptly stopped my medication which was very dangerous. The most damaging thing was the cruelty from the staff including a psychiatrist, psychologist, and nurses not just to myself. For a nurse who had taken care of sick people including the mentally ill for over twenty years, seeing health care professionals be cruel to helpless mentally ill people was devastating for me. The immature corrections officers at Wildwood were the worst. Now, I have heard the DOC has said, I am not telling the truth, oh, but I am. There are many others who tell the same story over and over, interesting how similar they are to my story.

Today Glenn Greenwald discusses the DOJ’s attempt to find a way to indict Assange without having to indict the news media as well because investigative journalism would be criminalized. They are trying to avoid the issue of the first amendment altogether. They have decided to go with accusing Wikileaks of actively seeking out information from Manning. If this case is actually brought forward it will have a chilling affect on news media and bloggers. Everyone knows investigative journalists do pursue information, often aggressively. Our media is already severely handicapped and controlled by our government which is controlled by corporations. We know from Professor Janine Wedel’s work countries that become so dysfunctional nothing works develop new systems to get around the dysfunction. The internet and blogging have become this new system to bypass the often useless, slanted, and propagandizing corporate news as well as the secretive government. They are finding internet journalism difficult to control. This situation with Assange and Manning is most likely seen as an opportunity more than a problem to the powers that be.

Greenwald: In sum, investigative journalists routinely -- really, by definition -- do exactly that which the DOJ's new theory would seek to prove WikiLeaks did. To indict someone as a criminal "conspirator" in a leak on the ground that they took steps to encourage the disclosures would be to criminalize investigative journalism every bit as much as charging Assange with "espionage" for publishing classified information.

Greenwald refers to his story from yesterday about the harsh conditions Bradley Manning is kept in. Sadly these conditions are very common place in the United States and in fact there are private prison corporations who build what they call supermax prisons which have all segregated cells, as well as federal and state prisons with supermax units. I was put in a segregated cell with harsh conditions in a “mental health unit” and then told I did not have a mental illness, I was just “arrogant and nasty“. They then kept me in the mental health unit for about ten days which does not follow their own logic. Yes I was pissed, very pissed as I am sure Bradley Manning is and I had more than a right to be. Their definition of arrogant is someone who knows they don’t know what they are doing and they are violating civil rights. I certainly did have PTSD and it was the psychologist who made the above statements to me, with the psychiatrist sitting behind him? My response was it was not a crime to be arrogant and nasty or a lot of doctors and lawyers would be imprisoned.

One of the reasons isolation cells are used is to induce mental illness and make the inmate dependent on the prison staff and DOJ staff. Often inmates already have mental health issues before they are incarcerated, this makes them easy targets for this kind of abuse. They essentially destroy people and don't care. Inmates are not seen as being human, that is how the guards end up enjoying torturing them. It certainly had a devastating affect on me, making the PTSD much worse. I actually had staff tell me they were going to “break” me when they violated the 8th amendment in an attempt to have me put in administrative segregation in retaliation for writing grievances, speaking my mind about not getting medical care, being blocked from going to the law library, and more(this is what they call trouble making). At the same time the inmate is kept in solitary confinement they block communication with the outside world, going so far as to move prisoners around so media, family and prison rights organizations can’t find them. I was moved to four different facilities in less than a month while being promised each time I was moved I was going to Nome for a hearing.

Manning has a history of being emotionally confused in the past (and who would not be considering the information he was seeing) and may be very vulnerable to their psychological tactics. Prisons use harsh conditions as punishment to manipulate inmates into cooperating. They are trying to get Manning to help them incriminate Assange so they can indict him. This is kind of a stepped up version of jail house snitch tactics. We all know how lawyers, especially prosecutors, manipulate laws and demonize defendants to the benefit of their cases.

What if they used the same amount of energy they are using to get to Wikileaks staff to get due process for low income people, or gave the funds they are using to the public defender agencies, how about just using all this inventiveness to charge our own war crime offenders or gee, using the resources to go after Osama Bin Laden? Justice is selective in the U.S. to the side of money, corporations and power. I want to know what lawyers are working on this for the Obama administration, perhaps Jay Bybee or John Yoo? It’s right up their alley as solitary confinement is a form of torture.

Segregation, lack of privileges, no exercise, no exposure to the outdoors, no contact with people, low calorie starvation diets, no commissary, no heat, no running water, no mattress, no pillow, no blanket, wool blanket (and you are allergic), no showers, no ventilation, withholding of medication, laughing at you when you cry, administration of sedative drugs, constant verbal abuse from prison staff, no activity other than sitting in the cell (but they allow Bibles), refusing to allow you to have your eye glasses and a dangerous roommate are some of the tactics used to get prisoners to do what they want. At Hiland Mountain Women’s Correction Facility’s mental health unit here in Alaska they will even chain women to the floor by their ankles. I experienced many of these tactics mentioned above myself. I was not chained to the floor, but they threatened this treatment several times. They withheld a mentally ill woman's medication and then when she was out of control they called a riot squad to chain her to the floor. Before they received her in the unit they went around telling the other inmates she was "nasty" setting up negative thinking about her. Abruptly stopping psychiatric medications is dangerous and causes severe behavior issues, it is also malpractice.

They had a "treatment" program which has different levels. Certain behaviors got points and as the inmate advanced levels they got more privileges. Needless to say I refused to cooperate with their program and told them so. They would give me little slips of paper with goals for the day on them and I would flush them down the toilet and give them a grievance form. My goals were getting my medications as well as getting bailed out so I had the ability to get my cat and property safe. I also wanted to find all the witnesses I could before they left Homer as it was the end of summer. I had figured out by then the public defender agency would do nothing.

The fact that nurses participate in this abuse is extremely disturbing. One nurse told me the mentally ill were not considered patients, they were just inmates. I worked with mentally ill legal offenders in another state. When there was abuse I contacted the state and got something done about it as well as speaking up about it at the facility. It is hard to believe a nurse would participate in abuse and torture, but I experienced and witnessed it.

Greenwald: Whatever else is true, the DOJ seems intent on pressuring Manning to incriminate Assnage. It would be bizarre indeed to make a deal with the leaking government employee in order to incriminate the non-government-employee who merely published the classified information. But that may very well at least partially explain (though obviously not remotely justify) why the Government is holding Manning under such repressive conditions: in order to "induce" him to say what they need him to say in order to indict WikiLeaks and Assange.

Glenn Greenwald is absolutely right, but I hope he knows how widespread these kinds of prison conditions are in this country. The really sad thing is hardly anyone in the country seems to know after all these years, perhaps because it is so horrible people just can’t believe it. I am glad this subject is being discussed, knowing people are being tortured breaks my heart everyday.

My research tells me solitary confinement is not unusual treatment. It is used to punish people who request medical care and write grievances for civil rights violations, get inmates to cooperate, and get rid of difficult inmates (especially the severely mentally ill). This is a violation of the 8th amendment of course, but they could care less. Don't get me started on the immigration detention system or the private prison industry. Now we know why the DOJ and Obama have done nothing about this over incarceration crisis in America.

I believe Julian Assange is a neurodiverse person, most likely with Aspergers. He probably also has PTSD from all he has been through in his life. As a person with Aspergers and PTSD I can see this. He has his own way of thinking, has a huge sense of justice and is always for the underdog. He writes on walls when he is thinking, for most of us it is windows. In the New Yorker last summer they had an article which described how he would stay in the same spot and work on line all night and he did not leave a room in Paris for two months. He forgets to eat and sleep. As a child he spent a great deal of time in libraries doing research. He was described by children who knew him when he was growing up as being reclusive. In Time Magazine a woman gave this statement to a reporter, "He was really deeply focused. When you have his attention, you have it 150%, but you don't keep it for very long unless you are feeding him information that he finds interesting, at a rapid pace." He studied math and physics. Because he is able to figure out things others can't he got into trouble with hacking when young and behaves in ways that piss off neurotypical people who think his motives are the same as theirs. Assange has no home just like the mathematician Paul Ardos (Very likely Aspie) who traveled between universities/conferences and everything he owned fit into one suitcase. Assange's mother is also a person who travels around a lot and is unique.

Remember, the FDA which is the agency that regulates blood banks has know for decades that many scientists were certain Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or ME/CFS was caused by a retrovirus. When I was a supervisor at a blood bank in the 1990s in Tacoma WA we did not allow people with ME/CFS to donate. Why is it we could get to the information to make that decision yet the FDA couldn't?

CORAL GABLES, Fla., Dec. 6, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In an unprecedented move, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) patients published a half-page ad in The Washington Post today. The ad brings attention to new, HIV-like retroviruses, including XMRV, which have been linked to CFS and aggressive prostate cancer, and have been detected in healthy blood donors.

The ad was created through the ME/CFS Worldwide Patient Alliance (MCWPA), a grassroots patient collaboration formed in August 2010 with the support of P.A.N.D.O.R.A., Inc. From their beds and wheelchairs, patients spent decades watching researchers, scientists and physicians debate about the cause or nature of their illness. Now, they are adding their voice through a campaign that calls for biomedical research funding, fast-track treatment options and improved patient quality of life. CFS, also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis or ME/CFS, is a disabling, sometimes fatal NeuroEndocrineImmune disease that afflicts more than one million Americans and an estimated l7 million people worldwide.

ME/CFS first gained national attention amidst the AIDS epidemic in the early 1980s. As early as 1991, a retroviral link to ME/CFS was discovered by Dr. Elaine DeFreitas of the Wistar Institute, but subsequent retroviral research was halted by the government. Although more than 4,000 peer-reviewed articles in medical journals have pointed to system-wide immune, neurological, endocrine, gastro-intestinal and cardiac abnormalities, a biologically-based diagnostic definition has eluded doctors. The result has been a catastrophic lack of care, ineffective (sometimes harmful) treatments and a shorter life span for those who are ill. The leading causes of death among patients are heart disease, cancer and suicide. The disease occurs in people of all ages, from children to seniors, and also has a higher incidence rate in families and has occurred in cluster outbreaks.

"This can happen to anyone," said Sita G. Harrison, spokeswoman for the MCWPA. "ME/CFS is devastating and the lack of care has hurt us all. We ask the government and health care agencies that we put our trust in to help the millions of people who are suffering and to fund more research now."

A major scientific breakthrough occurred in October 2009 when the Whittemore Peterson Institute (WPI) at the University of Nevada, Reno, working with the National Cancer Institute and Cleveland Clinic, published the results of a landmark study. The seminal study, published in the leading scientific journal, Science, discovered the third human retrovirus, XMRV, in the blood of 67% of ME/CFS patients and in 3.7% of healthy controls. This suggests that up to 10 million US citizens could already be infected. This finding was later confirmed by the FDA, NIH and Harvard Medical School in a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Their results linked a family of human gamma retroviruses (to which XMRV belongs) to ME/CFS at a rate of 86.5% and 6.8% in the healthy population, bringing the total of Americans who may be infected up to 20 million people.

The CDC and NIH have spent thirty years trying to prevent the cause of this disease from being found. I want to know why. They also gave it a silly name in the U.S. so it would not be taken seriously. If anyone knows anything about how the drug companies manipulate physicians they know they are also easily manipulated by government agencies as well as the AMA. Not only do the lies and diverting of research funds need to end, the abuse perpetrated on the people suffering from ME/CFS by physicians needs to end. Some of them will have to be forcefully educated by regulating agencies because many of them choose ignorance. A large part of the suicidal incident which got me arrested and the medical abuse I received in Nome was due to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. When I got PTSD the cortisol that is released causes the virus to reproduce and be released by cells in the immune system. I became very ill. This causes "brain fog", in other words it is difficult to even think or make appropriate decisions at times. Coupled with the severe PTSD from the workplace bullying I was very disabled. When I tried to get help the doctors refused and were very abusive. Of course this was not just due to prejudice against ME/CFS, this was also due to the lies spread by the two levels of workplace bullies at the hospital in Nome. This disease is very complicated and has a lot of unusual symptoms, many doctors can't comprehend this for some reason. We are all thankful for the ones who do and the ones who even though they did not know what to do for us tried as best they could, being believed is very therapeutic. Being very ill and treated as if you are just imagining it contributes to the suicide of ME/CFS patients.

"The NIAID, the national institute responsible for infectious disease research, has yet to fund XMRV research in ME/CFS or any other disease," explains Annette Whittemore, President of WPI. "WPI has had its last six XMRV-related grant proposals turned down; despite the fact that our researchers have proven XMRV is transmissible and infectious."

MCWPA is advocating for a budget that is in line with other NeuroEndocrineImmune diseases. Currently, only $5 million for ME/CFS research is in the NIH budget, far less than similar diseases such as multiple sclerosis ($l44 million) and lupus ($121 million). Patients also ask for antiretroviral and Ampligen clinical trials that have shown great promise in mitigating the effects of ME/CFS.

Is some drug company wanting the cause kept secret as they develop a drug and don't want competition from other drug companies? Did the government block research, appropriate diagnosis, treatment and prevention to keep people for getting Social Security disability, Medicaid and Medicare? Were these viruses spread through vaccines or some military germ warfare experiments? Somehow somewhere there has to be a reason for intentionally harming a very large number of people while allowing virus to spread that is more logical than cruelty, prejudice and group stupidity for thirty years.

Symptoms

Although its name trivializes the illness as little more than mere tiredness, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), also known as chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction syndrome (CFIDS), brings with it a constellation of debilitating symptoms.

CFS is characterized by incapacitating fatigue (experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina) and problems with concentration and short-term memory. It is also accompanied by flu-like symptoms such as pain in the joints and muscles, unrefreshing sleep, tender lymph nodes, sore throat and headache. A distinctive characteristic of the illness is post-exertional malaise, a worsening of symptoms following physical or mental exertion occurring within 12-48 hours of the exertion and requiring an extended recovery period.

The symptoms of CFS are highly variable and fluctuate in severity, complicating treatment and the ill person’s ability to cope with the illness. Most symptoms are invisible, which makes it difficult for others to understand the vast array of debilitating symptoms with which people with the illness must contend.

Other Common Symptoms

I have highlighted the ones I have had or have now, the symptoms change over time.

Additional symptoms are reported by people with CFS (PWCs) such as word-finding difficulties, inability to comprehend/retain what is read, inability to calculate numbers and impairment of speech and/or reasoning. PWCs may also have visual disturbances (blurring, sensitivity to light, eye pain, need for frequent prescription changes); psychological problems (depression, irritability, anxiety, panic attacks (only after the PTSD), personality changes, mood swings); chills and night sweats; shortness of breath; dizziness and balance problems; sensitivity to heat and/or cold; alcohol intolerance; (abdominal pain, irregular heartbeat; irritable boweldominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, intestinal gas); low-grade fever or low body temperature; numbness, tingling and/or burning sensations in the face or extremities; dryness of the mouth and eyes (sicca syndrome); gynecological problems including PMS and endometriosis; chest pains; rashes; ringing in the ears (tinnitus); allergies and sensitivities to noise/sound, odors, chemicals and medications; weight changes without changes in diet; light-headedness; mental fogginess; fainting; muscle twitching; and seizures.

There are many other symptoms, some of them are strange like temporary loss of fingerprints. For years I had excrutiating pain everytime I took a breathe, my feet hurt so bad I had a hard time walking, I had severe diarrhea, severe headaches, crazy shifting sleep patterns, restless leg syndrome (and restless whole body sometimes) swelling of my legs and I was very dizzy, but I did everything I could to continue to work. Sometimes I had to cut back to part time or rest a few weeks, going back to full time as soon as I could. I would have episodes of vomiting/diarrhea that would last for hours until I tore my esophagus and ended up in the hosptial. Many of the medications they gave made the dizziness worse. They did not know then we are almost a pint low on blood, so gave meds that exacerbated the problem. The doctors would tell me it was something insignificant and my coworkers would tell me they were wrong because I looked like crap and had weird symptoms. I had a low grade fever for years. We had a rule that if a patient in the ICU had a fever that was not higher than mine we did not call the doctor because there I was working with a higher fever. The running joke was that I was sicker than a lot of the patients. The PTSD from the workplace bullying did me in, otherwise I would have kept working. Of course being a nurse put me in danger due to the immune system problems, but doctors told me this was not true, so I caught one virus after another and had severe constant pulmonary/sinus infections. It was the antibiotics that caused the severe diarrhea.

Now even though my sleep is still crazy I can sleep when I can. I am eating an extraordinarily healthy diet and taking lots of supplements. XMRV and the other mouse retroviruses associated with CFS cause cancers, especially lymphoma and prostate, this is one reason for the diet change and supplements, giving my body what it needs to mount a defense against cancer. I have taken supplements for years for this reason and was unable to take them while homeless and struggling to find a way to survive on social security, that put me in a lot of danger. I take no meds except an OTC allergy pill. I have researched what foods cause pain and which prevent it and this has helped my comfort level immensely. I have been able to figure a way to get exercise by doing it periodically while I am awake. It took years for me to even be able to read much after what happened in Nome as well as the wrongful imprisonment, harm to my cat, theft of my property (No justice for any of it) severe abuse in the prison system and homelessness (BTW, they told me CFS isn't a real disease at Hiland Mountain, so they refused to treat it). I normally read and did research all the time, so it was very depressing to have my brain not work for years. Now I am generally reading tons of articles on line every day and several books at a time.

I feel much better and my brain functions on a high level. I look very different now and have lost weight. I did this by myself, every doctor I have seen in Alaska knows nothing about ME/CFS or is abusive to me because they don't think it is real. I had an MRI in Homer only because I insisted due to neurological symptoms so bad I looked like I had MS. It showed brain lesions which is exactly what I suspected. The doctor told me the MRI was normal and tried to block me from reading the report. After reading the report I made an appointment with a neurologist who after testing told me she could not say I don't have MS. Now, she knew I have CFS which can look identical to MS and CFS brains can have lesions. Her diagnosis was the brain lesions were caused by my headaches. I told her I was not buying the headache theory. This was after she insisted I have a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea when CFS and Aspergers both carry erratic sleep problems. I am on my own completely with this. I am thankful to all the scientists, physicians, organizations and patients who post information I have been able to use to get healthier. The PTSD has gotten better, but incidents coming up in the future could trigger the retrovirus. It is my hope that my body will be stronger and I will tolerate the flare up better. Now that I can get enough sleep by just sleeping when I can my immune system should function better.
